I would really like to thank you for your demonstration. I did my military test a few years back. I was under prepared , didn't have no guidance towards what was the test about or how it was solved in it's algorithms. I also had my basic math. When I entered the test center with confidence without studying, lets just say even though I have the pre-requisites, my confidence is no longer there.. Learn from me because I messed up the first time. Never enter the military test without being prepared. Be prepared in English, math, Spatial, Verbal. Thank you for your help.

For the sequences and patterns: I try to find one concrete rule and then eliminate as many answers as possible from that. Then look at the difference between the remaining answers and find a new rule relating to that difference. Rinse and repeat until there's only one answer left.

In the second example another rule also applies. In each consecutive square, second shape is something new that's not present in any of the previous squares. So, as per rule #1, correct answer has to be B or E. Then if you apply this third rule, result would be again B.

I know it's an old video but still relevant to this day. I just did my SOVA test and your insights really helped me. I kept thinking though, how do these tests correlate to a better employee, especially the logical reasoning test. have there been reliable studies on the matter? My test didn't have a time limit but they say you should complete with 15 minutes, which is impossible without hours of training. Even the verbal reasoning seems to be less relevant for higher level positions: they force you to only read the text and not take in your actual life experience and knowledge. I had to constantly remind myself to focus on the text only and even if my experience told me the answer was obvious, I had to stick to the text.

First, thank you for your video! It really helps with practicing. I had a question about the second practice exercise. My answer would have been D, because I thought the pattern for the first figure was 3-sides, 4-sides, 3-sides, 4-sides, etc. And then lastly, when you would apply the rule of the figure with the most sides shaded, this would also be true for D. Could you perhaps explain to me why this (D) is the wrong answer?

Thanks for this tutorial, although I'm still confused on the first example. I've written exams countless times and failed and you came in to lighten my heart. Thanks so much, I'll continue watching other tutorials to perfect in it.
Let's go back to the given task, the answer is "C". From the pattern each line from horizontal to vertical consists of ten (10) lines and for each option a single line is removed from horizontal to vertical. Therefore, from the lines in the question, I'll say 'C' is the correct answer because, it is 6 lines vertical and horizontal.
    Question 2 is B
    Question 3 is C
    Thank you!

C, B, C. First one: one line less in vertical and horizontal. Last figure shows 7 and 7, so you're looking for the one with 6 and 6 (C). Second one: the ratio is 2:1 between the circles in the different pictures (figure 1 as 2, figure 3 has 4, figure 4 has 6). So you want one with two circles in. At this point, you notice that the pattern is always full and stripes. Last thing to notice is the direction of the stripes, which is always in alternation (B). Last one: the small square inside the figure always rotates of 90 degrees. The pattern inside the figures is in alternation (stripes up, stripes down), as well as the direction of the stripes inside the circle (right-left). So the answer is C. Am I correct?

The video clears my worries and anxieties. Thanks for the tips. Q1: C (group changes in pattern) a reduction in 1 vertical and diagonal line as the sequence progressed. Q2: D (application of rules, rotation and movement of objects) the object increase in even number, shaded and black dots are even in each box but the shaded pattern alternate for the shaded dots. each box is started with shaded dot. Q3: C (singular change in sequence, the black square rotates anticlockwise, the shaded circle alternate patterns but the last pattern in one box is the same pattern in next box.

There’s actually another rule to the example where “the object with most sides is shaded”. The rule I used was that the center object is always a new one that hasn’t been used in any of the previous sequences. That also gave out the correct answer :) Thanks for the video, it really helped me out.

Thank you sir for your help...I actually was in need for such a good tutor at this time of pandemic...And according to me the answer would be option (C) as it contains six horizontal and six vertical lines
In the first figure there are 10 lines and in each figure 1 line is decreasing in horizontal as well as in vertical manner and also all the first vertical line is close to the horizontal lines in all the question figure .
Hence I would go with option(C). Am I right??
