Me too. I saw the first in the theater, and it seemed at the time that the second was going to be a lesser movie for not having the two main lead actors, but I have always loved the second more and feel it flows better and is more rewatchable to this day.
The speech about you can’t reassemble something when you dead is one of the powerful things I’ve ever seen and I’m 50… short circuit 2 makes me cry to much but love both films.
Same..I won't watch the sequel. It makes me cry when he gets hurt. It's amazing how attached you get to his character and really forget that he's just a robot.
We watched Short Circuit.2 in elementary school and I remember roaming the halls by myself bawling - i had to leave the classroom so no one would see me cry

This was filmed in Astoria Oregon and the Columbia River Gorge. You can rent this home, its air b&b, he has refurbished it back to this style. Also the Goonies home is near-by.
Funnily enough the 'Body' for that model is/was actually freely available to 3d print . I had started to look into making one but needs about $200 of electronics...

War games also has Mathew Broderick! It was a great film! Teaching a computer and hopefully people that War is not a solution. It's a cool movie. And that sometimes kids can be smarter than adults with better common sense!

Aw yeah! This was my favorite movie as a kid! I was born in 88, and I literally wore out the VHS the number of times I saw this! It's such a great, feel-good movie! The actor that plays the Indian-American friend is actually a white American actor, but he spent months in India learning to speak with a believable accent from I believe the Delhi area. I'm not certain off the top of my head, but it always struck me that he respected the type of person he was portraying. And Johnny 5's design is always cool! Love you guys, and thanks for the hit of nostalgia today! I needed it!❤❤

I owned this movie as a kid and "you're momma was a snowblower!" was always my favorite line lol. But those robots shooting at him freaked me out so much. What Johnny 5 turned them into was hilariously cathartic. Also, my guess is that BJ was about 5 in 1986 more or less. We seem about the same age.
I saw some of the other comments about how Short Circuit 2 made them cry, but I liked it even me - especially the ending. The two movies should always be seen back-to-back, and I believe I saw a DVD released that did just that in the late 1980's.

I turn 60 next month and watched this movie over and over with my 2 kids when they were little. To this day I still use words and phrases from the movie. Growing up, Friday nights was either Family movie night or video night. The whole family would pick a kid friendly movie and with this one, everyone loved it. I remember my parents being just as excited when Short Circuit 2 came out as is kids.
I remember the first time I seen this... It was my first ever drive in theater experience... I was 7, and my brother, 13 years older me, wanted to take his 17 year old girlfriend (and future wife) to the drive in, but her parents (rightfully so) wouldn't let her go "unsupervised"... So they agreed to take me and her younger brother, who was my age. along with them... To keep any "extra treats" from being served... It was a double feature... "Short Circuit" and "Karate Kid 2"... My brother and his girlfriend were inside her parents station wagon, and her brother and I were watching the movie on top of the car... Her brother was "innocent" but lets just say that I was there because it was not the first I had to run "blocker" for my brother... I had to keep her brother's eyes on the movie, and not checking on what was going on in the car below... My payment was 2 free movies and all the free popcorn, candy, and soda I could consume... Her brother got all that too, but he had no clue as to what was going on in the "Big Picture"...
Steve Guttenberg was such a star in the 80's. Three Men and Baby was another favorite of mine from that era with Guttenberg. You guys will love that one!

When I was a kid, my dad took us to some sort of robot convention thing that was happening at a museum, or maybe a college, either way it had homemade robots at it. Some were made from Erector, somewhere actually made out of Legos, all sorts of fun stuff like that. And one of the things they had was the Johnny 5 puppet on display. Somewhere in my many piles of old photos is a photograph of it.
I grew up watching this film with my baby brother (rest his soul( and now that I'm a dad I watch it on the reg with my kids and they all love it and it'll be a treasured memory for everyone

I was a Sophomore in High School when I first seen Short Circuit. I loved it. Shoutout to one of my Teachers who was also my Case Manager got me hooked to this 80s Flick.

John Badham who was the director was also the director of Saturday Night Fever so hence why they showed the dancing scene. This movie reunited Steve Guttenberg with G W Bailey who were in Police Academy. John was the cameraman when the news was interviewing Stephanie. They had 20 robots built along with spare parts for the entire movie. Was filmed in Astoria Oregon same place as Goonies. Tim Blaney the voice of number 5 did say he was hoping there would be a Short Circuit 3 but nothing yet. Hope you guys do Short Circuit 2. It also took 25 people wearing telemetry suits off screen to get number to move arms head and other parts. Great reaction. Absolutely correct that was the Bee Gees and El Debarge. This movie was an absolute staple of my childhood. That being said, I've never actually seen it from the very beginning.
This one and Short Circuit 2 are my favorite live-action films from my childhood. I still snort laugh at Ben's "Nun soup?" comment.
I was a Sophomore in High School when I first seen Short Circuit. I loved it. Shoutout to one of my Teachers who was also my Case Manager got me hooked to this 80s Flick.
This movie was a huge inspiration for the Pixar movie Wall-E right down to the way he looks and how he repairs himself
El Debarge did the song, "Who's Johnny." It was so popular back then. Movie theme songs were the best in the 80's.

John Badham who was the director was also the director of Saturday Night Fever so hence why they showed the dancing scene. This movie reunited Steve Guttenberg with G W Bailey who were in Police Academy. John was the cameraman when the news was interviewing Stephanie. They had 20 robots built along with spare parts for the entire movie. Was filmed in Astoria Oregon same place as Goonies. Tim Blaney the voice of number 5 did say he was hoping there would be a Short Circuit 3 but nothing yet. Hope you guys do Short Circuit 2. It also took 25 people wearing telemetry suits off screen to get number to move arms head and other parts. Great reaction. Absolutely correct that was the Bee Gees and El Debarge. Who's Johnny is how number got his name Johnny 5
I watched this roughly a million times as a child, but haven't seen it since... oh, around 1988. Had to watch this review just to see what I did and didn't remember.
