They went back to the Citadel because there was water and vegetation there - everywhere else the soil was polluted and unfarmable and the water was poison. "The Green Place" where Furious lived as a child had dried up and the land was 'soured' by pollution (they literally drove past it & didn't realize). She didn't know this, hence, her dispair when the older ladies told her. This is an apocalyptic wasteland after nuclear war - almost everyone is sick from the pollution (that's why they call themselves "half lives"). Max was a healthy blood donor - no magic to it. The sick or wounded " War Boys" need donor blood to keep going after injury. When they say "live again", they mean in Valhalla (where soldiers/warriors go when they die in battle). Theres too much to explain in a comment but maybe if you watch it again you'll pick up new details
Max was not only a healthy blood donor, he was O negative, a universal donor, meaning he could donate blood to anyone - which is why he could give blood to Furiosa without danger of being the wrong blood type.
The older movies are from the 80's. They aren't as action packed, but there is a lot of interesting lore to them.
@@WarGamerGirl And the original actor playing the gang boss is the same guy playing Immortan Joe here. In the original he had a bit of a brief argument with a truck.
“I live, I die, I live again” means hes going to Valhalla… an afterlife for warriors only. The Vikings believed in Valhalla
it's also a reference to the resurrection. "Fury Road" is rife with biblical symbolism.
Everyone’s reaction to seeing the flame throwing guitar for the first time is priceless!
That flamethrower rig was the reason I didn't want to watch this movie. I saw the trailer and very much assumed this movie was going to be dumb and boring as bricks. I mean seriously? A blind guy playing a flamethrowing guitar while riding a speaker-rig? It didn't look serious, or even interesting to me, just dumb. Years later I actually watched the movie and was blown away and now I consider it one of the finest action movies ever made, and what is absolutely incredible is that the blind guitar guy actually makes sense! It's not dumb or silly, it just makes sense in the world. Incredible.
@@eligrabetter late than never 😊...have you seen 300? I saw it in IMAX and it's an EXPERIENCE!
So glad you liked this. It's a masterpiece. Now you have to see the original trilogy, to see where Max comes from. According to George Miller, the stories aren't directly related, but the original trilogy will show you Max's history.
Masterpiece I don't think so not quite bro.😅
All that mattered about Max's blood is that he was a type O, meaning he was a universal donor. He could give his blood to anybody. Joe and is war boys were all suffering from some genetic defect that demanded constant blood transfusions, so Max was exceptionally valuable as a 'blood bag'. Furiosa had been bleeding profusely from her knife wound, which is why she needed a blood transfusion, and Max had been established to be a universal donor.
He's also healthy and strong, with a lot of body mass. If he's managed carefully, he'll last a while before he dies of anemia.
Bane and Max are same actor... Tom Hardy.
Hardy was also in Inception to which they have reacted.
Fun fact: The red-haired girl is Elvis Presley's granddaughter.
She's become a successful film-maker as well as a well-known actress.
Talent & Beauty...those good genes are strong in that family.

Nominated for 10 Oscars including Best Picture but won for
Best Sound Editing
Best Film Editing
Best Sound Mixing
Best Production Design
Best Costume Design
Best Make-up.
I was so bummed that this didn't win Best Picture (it lost to Spotlight). Normally I don't care about the Oscars, but this was by far the most ambitious, audacious, creative, and flawlessly executed film in the running that year. As usual, the academy went for traditional and boring instead of recognizing this for what it was.
Since this is a post apocalyptic world that has come about after nuclear war, there is a lot of radiation which causes genetic mutations and disease(cancer). Male children in the citadel are known as "war pups". If they survive long enough, they become "warboys", but in order to increase their lifespan and contribute in the trade and war efforts they require blood transfusion. The warboys are "half life" while Max is a "full life".
Nux, the warboy who eventually joins the war rig, uses Max as his "bloodbag" so that he can participate in the chase for Furiosa. Without the blood he wouldn't be able to function.
The amount of genetic mutation and disease is also why the wives are so valuable to Immortan Joe, as he is trying to breed a full life heir to his throne. He has three sons already. Rictus Erectus (the huge guy that dies when the war rig is flipped by Nux) is physically impressive, but has the mind of a child. Corpus Colossus is mentally capable, but has dwarfism (he's the guy who's looking through the telescope when Furiosa drives off the path). And his third son Scabrous Scrotus is a psychopath. He's not in this movie, but appears in "Furiosa", the prequel that came out this year.

mad max 2.the road warrior 1981
mad max... beyond thunderdome 1985
mad max .... fury road..... 2015
this is proper viewing order
hell yeah y'all
1979 came in an original and a north american dubbed version. Avoid the dubbed version.
furiosa too. it was better than fury road imo.
The original trilogy perhaps. But you don't need any order for Fury Road and Furiosa.
@@TRUEbASNER true true i just noticed he didnt include it so i had to. just watched it a few days ago and loved it :3
Furiosa before Fury Road. The rest of the order is correct.
Why does nobody remember or recommend Water World? It was another good post-apocalyptic movie with a similar story as this one.❤
Yeah because it was considered a complete rip-off of the Mad Max series but not done as well - giant plot holes, bad acting - Costner took over directing of the film and so his character flip flops between mean and heroic depending on if he directed the scene or not - it might be a "so bad its good" kinda movie
They were lucky to get that $175 million budget back at the box office.
Cause its commonly known as the biggest flop of all time.
Love that movie!
And, it still lost money at that. @TheCrazyCanuck420
I forced my mom to watch this. She was enraptured and loved it! After it was over she begrudgingly admitted " it was ok". I'll translate mom-speak...she loved it.
I took my mom to Furiosa, she LOVEd it. Went right home and made me put Fury Road on, and loved that too. Never thought my 75 year old devout Christian mother could love movies like this. I can die happy now.
@@lockekappa500 I took my dad (who was 71 at the time) to see Fury Road. My dad likes movies that are grounded in reality; he isn't the type of guy who is interested in fantasy or si-fi stuff. But there was nothing else worth watching at the theater so he agreed to give it a chance. We saw it in 3-D. He loved it and told me he never had an experience where a movie kept him on the edge of his seat like Fury Road did. Also said it was the best 3-D he'd ever seen. I would have never guess he would enjoy a movie that is as straight up bonkers as Fury Road is
@@megaherd619 I love this. Bonding with our parents during unconventional experiences is such a joy to have! So glad you had this with your father.
This film! I saw this three times in theaters because it was like nothing I’d ever seen before and that’s absolutely down to most the car chases being practical effects. Y’all definitely have to check out Furiosa!
I've heard mixed reviews about Furiosa I will probably still see it, but probably not in the theater
@@ajlynch5235 It's worth seeing.
@@ajlynch5235it’s not in theaters anymore
This is one of those rare movies where the theater truly elevates the viewing experience to such a degree as to become necessary. It's still incredible on TV, don't get me wrong, but watching it in theaters was something I'll NEVER forget.
Ngl I fell asleep in Furiosa
It’s worth noting that, semi trucks can actually go incredibly fast. It’s not that they’re slow, they just take a while to accelerate. Just saying that in case you were still wondering why the truck went so fast.
Not to mention the rig is described as "a 2000 horsepower nitro-boosted war machine..." so, even faster.
@@russellknight5288 True
@@russellknight5288 Even not mentioning that, a lot of people underestimate how fast semi trucks can be.
What a lovely day!!
You really should've watched Road Warrior (the 2nd Mad Max), just to get some backstory.
Why? There is zero backstory necessary for this movie. Even the flashbacks don't match any previous stories. Mad Max laughs in the face of continuity-- that's one of the things I love about the series.
No need to
In my opinion ( and this is My Opinion ) the first 3 orig were the best.
The crazy thing isn't that Max and Furiosa got redemption by reaching the "Green Place" (which actually turned out to be the citadel)... But Nux found his own redemption and was witnessed entering into Valhalla by everyone who was on the War Rig, when he saved their lives and ended his by flipping the other War Rig.
The director George Miller is a mad geniuses.
All his ideas from the 80' trilligy mused through his head for 30 years and when he got the green light and the money for this new version he hit it out of the park !!!
This movie was nominated for ten oscars and won 6 .
The most wins of the 2016 academy awards.
For this type of movie, a spin off of a B-Film that's incredible !
If you look up Millers films he also made kid movies as well.😂
Tom Hardy played Max and Bane.
Intro to The Road Warrior:
My life fades. The vision dims. All that remains are memories. I remember a time of chaos, ruined dreams, this wasted land. But most of all, I remember the road warrior, the man we called Max. To understand who he was we have to go back to the other time, when the world was powered by the black fuel and the desert sprouted great cities of pipe and steel - gone now, swept away. For reasons long forgotten two mighty warrior tribes went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Without fuel they were nothing. They'd built a house of straw. The thundering machines sputtered and stopped. Their leaders talked and talked and talked, but nothing could stem the avalanche. Their world crumbled. Cities exploded - a whirlwind of looting, a firestorm of fear. Men began to feed on men.
On the roads it was a white-line nightmare. Only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive. The gangs took over the highways, ready to wage war for a tank of juice, and in this maelstrom of decay ordinary men were battered and smashed - men like Max, the warrior Max. In the roar of an engine, he lost everything and became a shell of a man, a burnt-out desolate man, a man haunted by the demons of his past, a man who wandered out into the wasteland. And it was here, in this blighted place, that he learned to live again..... (black zoom out, revealing a supercharger scoop, atop a roaring engine)
I love that at the end, it's the war pups who make the decision to bring them up.
Start at the beginning, the 1979 Mad Max movie. Then work your way through Mad Max 2 The Road Warrior. Then watch Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. You will understand Max Rockatanski much more. As a side note, most of the car crashes and such were real. They used as little CGI as they could, to keep the gritty feel of the movies. It may even be of intrest to yuo to look into the history of the making of the first Mad Max movie, the director was originally a Dr, and the main actors were an Australian motorcycle club.
***Exciting CHOICE! You would Really Enjoy "MAD MAX: Beyond ThunderDome", 1985. It's wthi MEL GIBSON, & the Incomparable TINA TURNER!
Beyond Thunderdome gets a lot flack but I prefer it over the first one.
People that trash thunderdome when pushed also trash part 1 . They're just people who like the road warrior and thats it so their opinions really mean shit
@@JohnSmith-fm3pn Ya Mad Max was a low budget B-movie but it still gives a good backstory to Max before the apocalypse as to who he was and where he came from. Road Warrior and Thunderdome were meant to be taken as Mad Max legends, stories told around the campfire so they are more outlandish and over the top. Road Warrior is really good and my favourite of the old ones as well but I still like Thunderdome as well
Thunderdome is the most quotable of all 5 films.
YES!!!!! This is movie perfection. Music, lighting, characters, plot, etc.
How come nobody watches the original Mad Max with Mel Gibson. I loved those movies.
And those movies go crazy....
They're a lil rough sometimes.
Maybe because they don’t have to

Sorry. 2 words. Die Hard
Hard for me to pick a favorite, but MM:FR, T2 and The Raid 2 always come to mind when I think about the best action films I've ever seen.
@@tuffs4it T2 loses points for the idiotic dialogue (Cameron cannot write dialogue). Die Hard would be my #2 for sure.
Screenwriter: Let's make a movie about driving thru the desert!
Director: Sounds redundant
Me: I LOVE IT!!!!
Written and directed by one man. George Miller. Edited by his wife.
Then they were all like "Let's do it again!"
When mad max holds his hand up it saved his life because the small arrow didn't have the speed to go through his hand AND into his skull. It stopped at his skull.
BJ's reaction and failure to put the experience into words at the end of the movie is basically how everyone felt seeing this. I've never been so exhausted AND hyped up walking out of a theater as when I saw this. This movie is an experience, no doubt about it. Possibly my favorite movie of all time.
Did you guys do Road Warrior yet? If not it’s a must my friends.
I just love the brilliance of this film just being a long car chase to and from .
Max blood type is 0 negative. which is the universal blood doner. Thats how he helped furiosa. The war boy had some cancer or something and fresh blood just made him feel better.
The craziest part of this movie is that the scenes are primarily practical effects.
They actually did a lot of this stuff in real life!!!
The fact that no one was killed is a miracle.
There is some CGI but it is mostly Practical Effects.
A non-stop adrenaline fueled psychotic chase in a post-apocalyptic hell-scape.
An Absolute Masterpiece and Cinematic Triumph!
The little girl Max keeps seeing is not his daughter. She just someone he couldn't save, although he tried. Max had a wife and a son in the first movie. They're not here anymore... just leave it at that. Some people think that this movie is a reboot of the series because Max loses his car in the third movie. (this is the 4th). But it's not. It's another sequel. There is a graphic novel that takes place between movie #3 (Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome) and this movie. It explains how he gets his car back and it also tells the story of the little girl he keeps flashing back to. George Miller says that this graphic novel is canon.
This is a perfect action movie. My only regret was I saw too many previews and it spoiled some of the eye candy! The new one "Furiosa" was fun too! Thanks for the review you two!
The production of the movie started originally in 2003, but was put on hold due to the Iraq war because the filming locations and air travel was limited and classified unsafe. Mel Gibson was up for the role though.
But the new version later was very good. Very little cgi. Most old school filming.
Seeing this in IMAX was INTENSE!!! Action classic
best cinema experience of 2015 with my cousin and kid bro!
I grew up with the old Mad Max movies, and I went to see this one with my boyfriend. It was WILD 😍😍 Being a heavy metal fan, I absolutely LOVED the soundtrack 10/10
Mad Max is a messiah...he comes when he needed.
Hey guys I would definitely say go back and watch the original mad max trilogy. They are older movies, there different but good. You also get to see Mel Gibson at the start of his movie career.
They got the whole band - lol
The thing about max's blood was it was type o (as seen in what they tattooed on his back) which is universal and means you can give it to anyone. nux got it because he was dying from probably radiation poisoning and furiosa needed it from the blood loss after being stabbed
Been a Madmax fan since forever. I LOVE this movie. An absolute masterpiece.
Badass shirt BJ!
7:28 That's funny, Max and Bane are played by the same character.😄
Maiden t shirt... 💥 WILL I WATCH a movie I've seen 50 times because my wife likes it so much with Asia and BJ? Why, yes I will --let's go!
Just to let you guys know - this isn't a work of fiction. It's a documentary that covers three days and two nights in the life of a milk truck delivery driver in the Australian outback.
Where's the "REMEMBER ME" Immortan Joe death scene? You can't cut that out! That was the best part.
1=Mad Max , 2=Mad Max The road warrior...3=Mad Max beyond thunderdome. This is the fourth film in the series. The first three are worth watching. Especially #2 & #3.
They were kind of the John Wick movies of their time.. nobody messes with mad Max
Both Fury Road, and Furiosa are INCREDIBLE. There is a Mad Max Trilogy from the late 70's and early 80's, which is VERY tame compared to these modern stories. It is worth watching at least the original Mad Max, to see what this franchise started off as.
******* WOMAN with Short Hair that SPITS: LENNY KRAVITZ' Daughter, ZOE KRAVITZ, now CATWOMAN.
Nothing is better than mad max road warrior
Cant wait to watch the new one!
A little hello from Canada.
Thank you for your video!
I'm learning English by listening to you talk about the film.
very good choice of film! 🎞️📽️🎬🍿🎥🍿
Might as well do the whole mad Max saga.
All the war boys in the citedal had cancers. The only thing that could keep them going with blood transfusions. That's why the blood of a healthy human was so valuable.
The most important prequel to this is actually the Mad Max video game, not the other previous movies. Like the flashback of the little girl asking "where were you" does not relate to the older movies.
If you are driving, never listen to the track "Brothers In Arms" from this movie (played while they were shooting at the motorbike guys). You WILL get a speeding ticket. But on the other hand, if you listen to it while jogging, you might hit a personal speed record. The song just makes you go faster.
The way I stopped what I was doing to watch this 😂🔥
The storyline is not spoon fed with dialog, it's there but action speaks louder than words.
This is the best MM movie.
This is one of my favorite movies! I watched it as a standalone and still got the details, which the creator, George Miller, said is fine.
Others might enjoy the earlier movies and references but they're a want not a need! Keep doing y'all!
I agree BJ. They need to play some Iron Maiden while they're at it. 😅
Mad max is a little dated because it's a cheaper made movie but I still love it. The road warrior , and beyond thunder dome are great films even today .
This was the 4th movie in the series. The other 3 movies were Mad Max, Mad Max: The Road Warrior, & Mad Max :Beyond Thunderdome.
This was one of the best action movies ever! SOOO GOOD!
Oh hell *yes* they do! 🎶Aces . . . HiiiIIIIIIIGGGGH!!!!! 🎶 🤟

Remind me to never be in Australia during the collapse of society/nuclear fallout.
My favorite thing about this movie is that nothing is explained to the audience, it’s up to you to figure out wth is going on 😂
Schlanger is an Australian insult meaning "penis", but has a double meaning in this film. Schlange is the German word for "Snake" and the serpent serves as an important symbol in "Fury Road".
Y'all don't need to Watch the first mad max movies to understand this one but yall should definitely watch the first one because it is absolutely the best of them all
I remember bringing a love interest at the time to the premiere. She never got over the fact what weird ass movie I brought her to 😅
You will have to watch the original Mad Max to understand his backstory, and the visions he is having.
I mean the mad max movies are just very loosely connected.
@@mappes1 The first one connects to them all. The others, yeah they are legends from the wasteland
Fans PLEASE read Blood , Sweat and Chrome on the making off Fury Road. I'll confess that I didn't enjoy this movie on my 1st viewing but having read the book gave me so much more appreciation. That and the fact the Furiosa adds some much needed back story makes for a great double bill .....
Man whoever your editor is did such a good job of just keeping the action going and somehow making this movie more hectic and wild than it even is. Fun reaction.
😂😂. Great reaction!! First, your Iron Maiden shirt! Love it. Second you had me rolling when you said “babe I don’t know, might want to close your eyes” , lol always enjoy watching your reactions. 👍🏻
Saw this in theaters twice. Absolutely love it. Road Warrior is arguably better, if not the best of them all
you've just watched one of the greatest action films of all time. nominated for ten Academy Awards, won six. Best Film from the National Board of Review, one of the top ten films of 2015 by the American Film Institute.
hands down one of the greatest action movies of all time
Believe it or not. . .those "savages" are some of the more civilized and sophisticated peoples in the Wasteland. That Mad Max universe is absolutely insane 😈
All i know is the mechanic motorhead welder car guys AND the stunt riders in charge of building these vehicles for this movie are probably a very fun bunch🤘🔥😀
You have to watch all of the other ones first. Great movie but you've basically just watched Rocky 5 without watching the first four Rockies. ❤❤❤
@@scaryfstball100you don't know the backstory if you don't watch the first movies. 🤡
@@scaryfstball100 you don't know any of the backstory if you don't watch the first movies. You see how they're asking all the questions about where they're at and what this place is. Pay attention Junior
Nah he is right. The old movies are great, but they are veeeery loosly connected even before mad max 4 (also, one could ask when max changed from being in control of himself to actually hearing voices). Everything you need is in this movie. It is more that this movie is extremely visual, and things are seldom spelled out. You get the backstory and motivations for everybody in this movie through the mannerisms and actions the people undertake. It is one of the reasons why this is such a great movie.
I’ve heard the Mad Max sage described as stories told around a camp fire. You don’t know if the details are true or exaggerated, the timeline or the chronological order of events. Each story stands alone and additional stories only add to the mystery of the character. So with that in mind, watching all the movies is not necessary, it’s just add more to the character of Max. But I highly recommend Mad Max 2 the Road Warrior as a must watch.
@@scroopynoopers248 yeah that is a correct analogy
Max was being haunted by his past for so long that it made him acute psychotic. That's why they call him mad.
Definitely watch the originals. From what I recall, the movies are about the world economic collapse from an oil crisis and its slow decent into chaos. It’s not nuclear fallout, unless that’s something new added to the lore. MAD MAX was actually a low budget film, and is a bit of a slow burn, but it is good. THE ROAD WARRIOR had a bigger budget and is one of the best sequels ever and is one of my favorite films of all time. It’s the one that mostly resembles FURY ROAD. The third BEYOND THUNDERDOME is okay.
1:30 This might be one of my favorite films of all time. So well done especially using CGI because of the editing, theme, shots. Just a masterpiece and they say George Miller let his wife edit it to give it a different feel
Grew up with the og Mad Max movies, however, this one REALLY surprised me. Instant favorite, NICE reaction y'all!! 🖒🖒 Much ❤
There is no literal Fury Road. It's basically like if someone said, "I'm taking the highway to hell." There's no highway (that I know of) called Highway to hell. It's a concept. It's going to Valhala out in the wild world.
Asia and BJ, you really need to watch the original Mad Max and the Mad Max series with Mel Gibson in it and then in that way you’ll understand what this movie is all about and just keep in mind that this is a post apocalypse. This is after a nuclear fallout and that’s the reason why everybody was sick and deformed because everything got contaminated and destroyed and deaden, from the radiation from the fall out but you really need to watch the original mad. Max to understand completely what this is all about anyways, I enjoy your reaction. You take care and be safe.🫶🏻💕❤️💕🤠
Like 90% of this movie is practical. All those weird ass vehicles... they actually work, including the drum car and the flame throwing guitar. The pole cats... those are Cirque Du Soleil performers. Tom Hardy was strapped to the front of that car (which he did NOT like). So yeah, they did that.
I have 3 all-time favouite movies. A 3-way tie. Captain America The Winter Soldier, The Batman and Mad Max Fury Road.
To get the answers as to where Max came from, then you need to start at the beginning with "Mad Max " which was BEFORE the world fell apart
He’s having flashbacks because this is not the first Mad Max. First 3 Mad Maxes were with Mel Gibson. He started it all. Actually pretty good movies.
Now ya gotta go back and start at the beginning, the first move is a little on the slow side and the acting is kinda bad in spots but it gets you up to speed on who Max is and why hes the way he is.
It was quite literally filmed on a beer budget, a lot of the extras were paid in beer, they didnt get permits to film at a lot of the locations so they were doing hit and run film shoots through most of the driving scenes, the total budget was under 400k but it grosed over 100 million at the box office world wide.
You'll notice a continuity break between the original movies and the newest movies and that was best summed up by someone who said that after the first film, Max's character is more of a campfire story about a drifter who showed up at the right place at the right time and helped out (often to his own detriment in the end) inspite of himself not wanting to get involved.
They actually worked with Cirque DeSol for the stunts with the guy on poles, the Pole Cats.
Mad Max Fury Road is set in a post-apocalyptic Earth where most of it is a barren desert and scarcity of water and resources except in certain well watered areas, this earth was having an aftermath of the nuclear war
This score is INCREDIBE.
