Energy drink is such a generic label, just like the word charged. I've even seen it applied to something that just has vitamins in. The whole "giving you energy" is silly and the word caffinated is so much more clearer and precise.

Ive had a huge amount of caffeine today, and im a 53 yr old smoker. I decided to put the caffeinated soda down & drink some herbal, non-caffeinated tea instead. Thank you ❤

I never got a charged lemonade from Panera, but when I went there I nearly had a heart attack when I saw how much they were charging for a grilled cheese... and it was extremely mediocre
the food prices there are bonkers. I remember spending roughly $20 on half a blt, some soupy mac n cheese, and 2 cookies. the cookies were fire but everything else was as you said, mediocre

what blows me away is the fact that it was one of the drinks that you could get unlimited, unmonitored refills for if you bought a certain cup. leading people to believe they could drink multiple of these. from what I know of, there were clear listings of the caffeine content on the label. but the problem I see is that I highly doubt the majority of people really know how much caffeine 390mgs actually is, if they even read the label. truth is, if I wasn't addicted to caffeine to the point that I see different energy/pre-workout brands as numbers of mgs. I likely wouldn't have any idea that 390 is the average persons hero dose, or overdose for that matter. that being said I would love to try it lmao
The amount of people that consume caffeine daily yet have 0 idea about the consequences of chronic/excessive caffeine use that i meet on a daily basis is mind boggling to me personally
@danielrodrick4318 I would imagine it has to do with the fact that it's not often you hear of stories about people having severe complications from caffeine aside from extreme cases like the panera one, especially if you don't go looking for them. Much less frequently than other drugs or alcohol. Which likely lulls people into a false sense of security around caffeine. I would assume some amount of denial plays a role in it, too, for those who are heavily addicted. Even if they know the possible consequences.
@@silentdiscretion2657 absolutely, but caffeine related overdoses/reactions isn't the only thing I meant, was mainly referring to cardio related illness like high blood pressure, blood sugar issues, heightened risk of stroke and heart attack etc...
@danielrodrick4318 I know exactly what you're saying. What I'm saying is that you rarely hear of any information whatsoever regarding anything about caffeine related issues unless you go and seek that information out. Which I highly doubt very many people do. Unlike the abundance of horror stories of hard drugs or the widely known effects of alcohol abuse. Which causes a lot of people to steer clear of those substances. I believe this isn't quite the case with caffeine.
As an American, this is eye opening. I drink about 150-200 mlg of coffee a day. This is spread throughout the day. One time I had 300 mlg of caffeine and it made me very irritable after consuming it to the point where any slight irritation or discomfort made me enraged. So hearing what had happened to that one guy who checked into a hospital feeling overwhelmingly anxious and shaking after having 4, 17 oz cups of this stuff had me quite concerned. I don't even want to imagine what 400 mlg will do.
Just a quick question, do you mean 150-200 mlg of caffeine of just coffee? Cause one cup of coffee is about 150ml which is about 150-200 mlg (using very rough calculations seeing as 1 L of water is very close to 1 kg)

I would drink 2 cans of monster over a day and that is too much, but to have 4 cans worth of caffiene in one drink is insane
2 cans of monster is pretty comparable to this drink if Lewis is right about it being around 900mL. Two cans of monster would be 1L and 320mg caffeine compared to the 0.9L and 390mg of the charged lemonade

As an American. If you go to any fast food, or "drive thru" food business. They will always default to the medium size, and only ask to upgrade to a large, I don't know any drive thru that openly promotes "small" sized combos. I always have to tell them I don't want a medium, I want a small and the price difference is usually nothing.
I have become far too reliant on sugar free monster, I need to start making a change as I enter my 30s next year. Shit is getting serious and I just know that all the shit inside those cans is wreaking havoc on my body.

I regularly drink monster but you'd have to drink 8 500ml (8 500ml = 4L) cans to get the same caffine content as one of those 800/900ml lemonades. I never have more than 4 a day, and thats rare. (UK btw if you wanna check the drink contents youself)

You're off on those numbers bro, each monster can is around 160mg caffeine, so it's more like 2½ cans, not 8. I also hope you don't actually drink four cans a day because that's 640mg which is over the daily limit of 400mg and can cause damage to your heart

One of my first concerns was that most of the time in the USA, adderall (a medication thats about 3 steps away from being meth) is the FIRST and sometimes ONLY stimulant prescribed for adhd, and people taking the medication are told to avoid caffeine as much as they can since its such a powerful stimulant (I'm pretty sure its not even legal to prescribe in NZ, since it wasn't an option when I was testing medications) Theres definitely a shit ton of people in the USA taking that medication who would probably get serious health problems from drinking that bioweapon while on that medication, or any stimulant medication for that matter.
They prescribe riddilin and Vyvanse too
My sister went through meds testing in aus and before she was even allowed to try stimulants she had to have a heart check, had to see a psych and a bunch of other tests just bc they can obviously affect the heart. But the America is just handing the shit out

When people outside of the US say that the United States is "crazy" for things like selling a 20 oz. lemonade, it always makes it sound like every other country in the world is so utterly boring that hearing about an international 20 oz. lemonade seems wild.
Guess where I live is boring because I can’t buy a litre of lemonade in a cup and my schools and public spaces don’t get shot up on the reg.

At the Panera bread that I went to they had labels up for the charged lemonade clearly displaying the amount in mg of caffeine on a sign in front of the drink. I've seen similar pictures online of signs clearly displaying the caffeine amount for the charged lemonade on the drink dispenser. I haven't been to a Panera bread in two, maybe three years but last time I went I got a caffeinated lemonade, I think mine was peach flavored or mango maybe and it was labelled with the mg amount. I drank one and got a refill then felt wired, and I was a heavy coffee drinker/energy drink user at the time. This was before the first lady that had heart problems drank too much of it and died. These people just needed to read the signs, man. They've been on there. I'll give a pass to the mentally disabled man because he would have difficulty quantifying the numbers on the label and knowing how much would be too much. As a sidenote the Aussie government really regulates your caffeine intake big time, a strong cup of french press coffee would put those numbers to shame easily. Cheers Lewis you big sexy man.

I love the timing. I bought a full sugar Coke today by accident and took a long swig of it and just went "Gross', whats wrong with this coke?" I realised it was full sugar and looked at the contents and it contained 50g of sugar per bottle etc. I just threw it out after one swig (tbf, almost half a bottle) and still had a headache a couple hours later. I'm used to drinking almost a litre of coffee a day too.
I have a slightly funk heart too but don't drink energy drinks.

As a pre workout consumer 390 mg of caffeine didn't seem immediately wrong to me then I realised that people are having it without knowing with a coffee or whatever other caffeine they have in their day it becomes horrendously bad. I have 200 in one sitting then im done for a day because I know how much I've already funked my body.

Im Canadian, and when i visited the states recently and got american energy drinks, they were so strong. At the time i was a regular consumer of them, but their regulations are so loose, its wild.

In america it is common to see people with 30oz, 40oz, 80oz, (~890ml, 1120ml, 2.4L) water bottles, and plastic cups in sizes these large are at the average convience store, and theyre designed to fit in your car's cupholder. We also have a malnutrition problem. It's fucked.

I used to have a Panera unlimited drinks membership and I would have a large charged lemonade almost everyday after work. they were tasty but I did shake sometimes so it's a trade off y'know
