First Impressions of MANILA đ”đ - Day 1, The Philippines
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 26. 07. 2024
- Our first impressions of Manila, and day 1 in The Philippines. We explore the city around Malate and the centre of the city, walking the streets and talking to some local Filipinos. Manila has a stereotype of being unsafe and/or dangerous, so I will tell you how I feel in terms of safety. I also meet a friend who lives in the city of Manila.

Welcome to the Philippines đ”đ. Iâm sick and tired of hearing people say âoh itâs so dangerous there. Like all country, thereâs danger â ïž. Show me a country that is 100% safe. Philippines is very hospitable and friendly. If your lost they will help you find your way. If you hungry they will feed you, and yes we speak English. Have fun and be safe
ate puso mo ,yong mga.nagsasabi dangerous dito mga commenters lng yon ng ibang bansang naiingit at di p talaga nkarating ng pilipinas mga marites lng yon nagsabi non.
Agreed, I love Manila, I donât find it dangerous at all
The Most Dangerous Places is Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, lol.
Iâm going to Manila next month, first time ever đ„ł
@@Iwassavedbygrace have fun! Manila is a great city with so much to do!! Iâm going back in December and I canât wait!
Sad that you leave my beloved country Thailand. I am so grateful to your kindest words on us. đđ
I am so happy that you continue your wonderful journey in beautiful Philippines and wish you guys have joy and friendship along the way!!! â€ïžđčđ
Iâm from the Philippines and Thailand is in my bucket list to visit someday. Iâd like to see your country and also to enjoy your wonderful food.
Thai food is the best!
Im from Philippines. Do not worry they will always come back to your country. Its a lovely country, Thailand.
I still love the Manila Bay and Malate and Ermita area, especially Rizal Park. I hope they continue rehabilitating the area. Thereâs three nice museums surrounding the park. I think theyâre all free
MABUHAY â€ïž Welcome to the Philippines đ”đ and ready to INCREASE your subscribers and views! Because we support all locals & foreigners here!
Manila was too crowded for me but was a good experience. I personally prefer Cebu much better but everywhere has nice places in the Philippines and the people are happy and friendly no matter where you go.
Yeah, I actually visited Cebu back in 2018 but would love to go back!
It depends on where you go in Manila. Some areas are extremely crowded, yes. But other areas are really quiet and not crowded- like Marikina, Alabang, BGC, parts of Quezon City and Parañaque.
@@Joelfriend
Go to Makati BGC
Where in Cebu? Because i would choose Manila over Cebu City tbh
@@myra8158 I like Cebu because thereâs so many beautiful places and nice islands. The city is quieter too. But if you like cities then I agree Manila is better but I like the quieter life visiting the falls and stuff like that.
that filipino kid in red sooo cuteđ€§đđ aww yah asian kids are really cuteđ€§đ
Actually as an expat that just moved to Manila, I kind of feel safer here than in Los Angeles.
Never been to the US but have watched alot of videos from Facebook. people in America are so crazy there's always a fight at supermarket or fastfood chains. Ppl are warfreak. Random people holding guns. rarely see that things here in the PH.
agree! LA is scary
visit the modern areas like BGC, Makati, Ortigas, Eastwood when you come back in Manila, Enjoy PH!
Thank you, we can return to these spots at some point đ
As long as you have a local friend to come with you and guide you around while touring the city, then you are pretty much safe wherever you go in Manila
Even without a local guide, it is generally safe for foreigners to explore the city.
Locals usually respect foreigners when they them, they just hello to you when they pass you by.
They dont need to. Its a safe country. Anywhere in the world just be careful and vigilant.
Welcome to the Phillipines 1 million percent you might like it,,every country there a place not safety at all,But in the Philippines is not dangerous country ,people are friendly and hospitality..enjoy and more nice, beautiful island..have to offer you ..
Haha! Guesting in your channel is so cool. It was nice meeting you again and Emilia. Please enjoy your stay in Palawan. There are so many places to explore in the Philippines. I hope you can visit most of them soon. I'm so looking forward to your videos. =)

Hellow, welcome to the Philippines,It' s good you have a Filipino friend to tour you around Manila. Goodluck on your journey to our country.
Heya, mabuhay/welcome! Brit-born Fil here. Welcome! Seems you went to our version of Peckham or Tottenham (nothing against those places), or the Bronx. The old city (despite it being considered the old centre) has that same nuance or connotatio. Please don't expect that area to represent the entire metro, we have much nicer places here like BGC, Makati and Ortigas, which we consider to be the central areas of the modern metropolis; and along the peripheries, MOA and Alabang in the south, Quezon City in the north, and Marikina in the East (which is a typical quiet residential area if you want to see how most of us live). The trick to Metro Manila for us locals that we'll share with the travelling community is to avoid the old City of Manila itself, not unless you go to Binondo, which is the world's oldest Chinatown. The food and atmosphere in Binondo is amazing! Apart from that, Metro Manila's central area is actually BGC (premiere district) and Makati (the Manhattan of Manila) :)
Ahh awesome we got told not to stay in Makati this time as it would be closed due to the Easter holiday but next time we could stay there
@@Joelfriend Hey mate, oh yea it gets pretty dead during Holy Week here, many people take it super seriously here, TV and radio literally stops and you see people doing stuff like penance in the streets. It's pretty intense, but it's all back to smiles and normality afterwards. BGC is definitely the best possible area to stay in, but it's a bit pricey. You can get decent airbnbs there (about ÂŁ20-30 a night) though so it's not too bad. Poblacion Makati is def a great place to stay at too, especially places like Z Hostel that have rooftop bars. That area's got a bit of grit and liveliness and is fully authentic, but it's not rundown like the old City of Manila (Malate, Tondo etc) is. If you want to have a comprehensive feel for the metro, I'd recommend visiting different districts in a day, Metro Manila is like different game zones all smooshed together. You could start in Binondo in the old city in the late morning to around lunch time for an explore of the winding streets and try some of the best authentic Chinese Filipino foods around, head to the madness of the Divisoria street market in the afternoon (watch your bags there though, no violent crimes to speak of there, but there are a few pickpockets in that area), and escape to the modern chillness of Bay City and Mall of Asia for some Aircon shopping and to ride on the MOA Eye Ferris wheel (the world's biggest IKEA is there), or ride one of the Manila Bay boat rides at sunset. Then head for Bonifacio High Street or Uptown Mall in BGC in the early evening, especially on weekends, to check out the liveliness of what's pretty much like the Siam Square of Manila. They have great craft beers there too :) you will feel like you visited 4 different countries in a day. Then there's the Pasig River ferry, which is free I think, and you can take it up and down the river to get a feel for the city in a raw state. If you get on at the old city next to the historic Jones Bridge, and go up river to the large LED screens of Guadalupe ferry stop, you'll get a good feel of the metropolis. There are great things to see in the old city, it's just not the spot most of us hangout at, or would recommend to first timers in the metro. Sorry for the essay, but lemme know if you need any ideas on places to visit here :)
Good one JOel ! enjoyed it a lot. consider to go to the philippines as well...
Actually that is the oldest City in Manila. When I was in the philippines the modern City are located in Bonifacio Global City, Makati City, Okada Manila in Entertainment City, Eastwood City, Bay and Star City in Pasay where Biggest Mall is located.

That perception of Manila as dangerous stemmed from an old stereotyping. The capital region is safe and crime against foreigners is so rare. You will encounter friendly people instead.
Agree
Went there a few weeks ago and it was amazing and I never once felt like I was in danger

Congrats ! I started right before covid when the recession hit. I held those stocks and made a killing. I bought dividend stocks and made a lot during covid.
I'm convinced that the big investors and analysts are trying to scare us to keep us poor and ignorant to the market.. because its steady doing good after all the jobless and market crash talks
Congrats and wishing you the best .
The one effective technique I use is staying in touch with a financial coach for guidance, it might sound basic or generic, but getting in touch with a financial adviser was how I was able to outperform the market during the pandemic and raise a profit of roughly $40k
@kim sun When I was 20 ,but you need a finance Pro if you donât want to loose and if you want to be more successful.

OKADA is a shopping center, a 5-star hotel and cadino.
Best time to visit is after Sunset.
Welcome to the Philippines guys and enjoy to explore
I believe the bird's a rufous night heron. It's most probably there to look for some fish. I've noticed a lot of them frequently appearing there ever since the Manila Bay rehabilitation. There are also migratory birds showing up as well.
When will Manila bay rehabilitation be finished?

The of City Manila is in Manila, and Manila is a region that consisted of 16 Major Cities. During American and Spanish colonial time the city of Manila and 23 municipalities are included. Manila is now commonly known Metro Manila (National Capital Region). Many Filipinos were confuse that they only know that old Manila or the City of Manila (Capital) is the only Manila.
Welcome to Manila!
Enjoy and be safe.. đ€

To say that Metro Manila is âdangerous â is a sweeping generalization. Everywhere you go, I donât care if itâs in Europe, Asia, Africa, North or Latin America, there are areas that are safer than others. Not all of Metro Manila is âdangerous â - whatever âdangerousâ means. And just like in other cities around the world, but particularly in the Philippines, thereâs no shortage of locals who will help and even defend you, if needed. However, nothing beats common sense. Safe travels. âïž
Manila has a lot of snatchers and your taxi driver sucks. You are not allowed to wear jewelries and use cellphones everytime. Mas Malala pa nga dati na may tanim bala pa na pahamak sa foreigners.
Yah... Phoenix is more "dangerous."
@@mariyatatsu3752 Filipinos are overly sensitive and butt hurt about the dangerous comment. As someone who lived in manila for years, I agree. Have several experiences where the other person in bus / jeep had their cellphones stolen. Sometimes people experienced getting their bags slashed. Butt hurt Filipinos don't understand what crime rate is. And while places like Singapore isn't generally crime free, it has significantly lower crime rate than manila. And yes a lot of taxi drivers in manila suck. A lot of them don't even bother giving change. Problema mo pa pag wala silang panukli.
Nice to watch, stay safe and God Bless
