The Don Giovanni Hotel is atrocious, I really agree with that one. Thanks for the fun video!
2:01 just cracks me up :) you guys always bring a smile!
I don't think the Quadrio shopping center at the Národní Třída tram stop is necessarily ugly, especially with the open square in the back with the rotating Kafka head. It's just a modern, functional building. Yes, many of the buildings in the area are Baroque and stylish, but that's one of the things that's great about Prague. You have the old and historic beside the modern and functional.
Communist architecture yells DEPRESSION. In an earlier video you showed us apartment buildings from HELL.. I would have to say those were the worst buildings. Also I would say "NO" to CHARLES SQUARE CENTER, does not belong any where's in Prague. It's like a sore thumb. That big angled glass building was not fitting to be in Prague either. I am still GOBSMACKED how big Prague is!!! Another great video Valery!!!🌹👍
I thought the Žižkov tv tower would be in the top 5. Sad to see quite a few modern/contemporary structures in New Town. The Billa store featured would probably be not out of place on the eastern part of Holešovice, which I assume is predominantly modern buildings.
As for ugliest building in the place where I live - everything is hideous except a dozen or so buildings. That's about 9,999,999,988 ugly buildings. :(
the new building of the National Museum is a pretty interesting one as well
My vote would be for that big assed needle thing that dominates the Prague sky. Thanks again for a great video!!!
Most of the buildings in the video will fit nicely in Las Vegas. Prague demands class.
3:37 - that dog has backpack full of cocaine
I completely agree! You did in fact pick the ugliest building in Prague in my opinion. And unfortunately it is very visible from a lot of view points around the city
Skvele, zajímavé stavby
Komercni banka in Stefanikova is what I consider the ugliest building. It looks like it turned up to a fancy dress competition without a clue what it wanted to go as.
Interesting about it is that the whole Smíchov should look like this but the Velvet revoluton came in before the communistic goverment did it. This particular building soposed to be new tresury of socialist Czechoslovakia.
Ugliest building in London must be Shard .I know it is unpopular opinion.
This Quadrio is quite nice and Don Giovani has great interiors.
The London/Dubai/Moscow architecture trend is appalling. It is almost as if they all have the same architectural firm working on their new buildings...
@@stevemcgowen Exactly
There are NO ugly buildings in Prague .....
....
....
....after enough really good Czech beers.
The National archives was a real pain in the eye - a complete winner for me...
Actually most of them aren’t so bad. Except for Crystal. That one really sticks out like a sore thumb. In America our bad architecture was evident in the concrete multi sport stadiums. Even the grass on the playing field was fake.
You would like "Hotel Olšanka" then.
But unfortunately it was made somewhat more colorful during reconstruction so it's not ugly as it was before. But whole area around Olšanské náměstí has "Communism in Romania" esthetics.
I really like the cristal monstrosity it's very interesting kind of a building it's hard to find something that oreginal in Prague. I agree it's not pretty but interesting that's why it has the value for me
I think that the Charles Square building is not even that ugly, It is just misplaced. I love the.Quadrio building. At the looks of it, it is a piece of beautiful modern architecture. Also the Don Giovanni Hotel I do like and so I do like Crystal.
Maybe I am the odd duck? But I love the Real Prague Guides CZcams Channel, so maybe not.
You are never wrong.
nope you don't look like hell
Pretty pretty actually!
👍 👍 👍!!!
ahoj good vlog restaurace faust is good on na morani remember im,m coming in august U KALENDU U AND WENSCA A KOSKA
Agree with your architectural leanings totally
I can't find vintage buildings ugly because they were designed with some style or purpose- like the Kotva building.. New, ugly buildings, however, just seem to be drawn on a whim, with the architect just trying to be different or outlandish- like the crazy outfits you see at high fashion shows, or the V tower... The Tesco building would actually look cool if it had a massive tv screen on the plain side. It would look like a building in Shibuya, Japan...
I like that buildings have some natural shapes it.
Birds tend to crash into glass surfaces, so I don't like that, especially for that reason.
..
When they took down a builiding in Oslo, called Y-blokka, it was a solace to come to Prague and rest my senses.
The Y-blokka (Y-block) was a candidate for UNESCO World heritage, but others had voted it to be one of Oslo's ugliest. Many artists, dancers and photographers stood up for its preservation. So I feel there is good reason to be a little cautious about condemning architecture. Let it stand for fifty years, so people get used to it. If there is NO increase in appreciation, maybe it has good reason.
The hotel, you showed us was interesting. You might wwant to look deeper into what that architect was thinking.
Praha ❤️
The ugliest building in Prague definitely the Tesco building the creepiest building have to be the tv-tower. It´s impossible not to react when seeing David Cernys giant ailien looking babies crawling up the tower. It´s a nice, well made creepy sculpture as is & it´s sertanly doing it´s job as a decorative pice when it comes to giving the audience something to feel or think about even on the ground in Kampa park but on a building.... seriusly...nightmares?
The architect wanting it to look like a broken heart--BWAHAHAHA---I would love to have been at that pitch meeting.
Wanna see some ugly architecture? Go for the Astronomical clock! ... in Brno. :D
The "l" in the word "clock" is excess...
Building DPP is masterpiece!!!!!
KOCHKA
I liked #2. But the rest of them are horrible and insulting to the populace
co by pražák naprosto souhlasím s výběrem nejošklivější budovy a zároveň bych vyzdvihl, že je nejošklivější i zevnitř a principem, ke kterému je zneužita
I agree - all the buildings on the top 5 list are awful - they're just in the wrong city, they would look fine in a city dominated by modern buildings.
Im a architect they do look ugly, the 1st bldg looks like the sister of the cia bldg in langley va.
Communist buildings seem much less romantic if you come from a(n ex-)communist country.
Žižkovská věž je TOP stavba🦾😎
THERE,S NOTHING WRONG WHITH PRAGUE,...I AM THE UGLIEST CONSTRUCTION IN THE WORLD .I,M SO PERFECTIONIST,WHEN YOU ,LL SEE ME THERE YOU WILL REALIZE ...THEN .!!!JOKE OF CORSE!PRAGUE 😇😇😇🌿🌿🌿✝️🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹!!!
Modern fart.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dude, get some rest.
I think they are all fine, they are not attractive but they are functional and fine. They just look more modern than the ones around them which is normal.
the tv tower is for me
As for the rest of the world 😎
All these buildings would look great in New York, but not in Prague. For me the Andel shopping center, the Zizkov Tv Tower and The Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord could be nominated as well...
Personally, I really like the TV Tower. I know that for many it looks like a rocket ready to launch but I like the clean lines, rounded edges and its contrast against the surroundings. As a Praguer I am not able to imagine the hill without the Tower anymore, it would be flat and empty. I have nothing against starships. Sorry guys
Most modern buildings everywhere in the world are ugly. The same boring, cold, dehumanizing blocks of glass and steel. Sometimes the architects twist or tilt them here and there a little, in order to "add some art". Time shall not be kind to these abominations.
In Bratislava there’s this building of the Slovak Radio with the shape of a pyramid but UPSIDE DOWN… I mean… wtf? Its sooo ugly
