- This video is about how Old Firm bigotry and segregation is slowly but surely dying in our modern day society,recently highlighted through the passing of the Celtic legend Tommy Burns. Both the reaction of Rangers FC and their fans and the gratitude from Celtic Fc and their fans at such a warm,decent and dignified display, has been a catalyst for change from our segregated ways.
No one is suggesting we will be best friends, we're footballing rivals and we're not eejits lol, but what has been strongly highlighted (and shown from the messages left by both sets of fans on the TB video's, which i have compiled both below and in the video)is that rivalry may remain but Sectarianism, Bigotry and hatred may not. It also highlighted that a growing number of Old Firm fans are friends away from the footballing world and would gladly rather be a united rather than divided old firm supporter
The bigots are in the minority and many messages were also attacks from both sides on 'their own' (if you can even call them that) when they stepped out of line..an encouraging attitude beginning to develop.We must all remember this if real change is allowed to develop. We must get rid of Bigotry and sectarianism.We must get rid of the poison that exists in our country, before it kills it.

As a Celtic fan I am deeply moved by the warmth and respect shown to Tommy Burns by Rangers fans. Respect guys. I hope we can all show the misguided minority...and they are a minority...that we need to move our two great clubs to a higher plane.

A sad, sad day. I am a Rangers man, as you can see from my name. I watched the Service and it was very touching to say the least. Tears were shed here for Tommy, a man I always respected and greatly admired.

In the world we live in, there is no room for bigotry and hatred. It is unfortunate that it takes the loss of a great man to bridge the protestant catholic gap amongst us. Forever will you be in our hearts tommy burns.

Aye a bear here too. Nice guy, one of those guys you simply couldn't dislike, he is sadly missed. The decent fans amongst both side respect tragedies, then others are a disgrace to their club. I'm 1 for shouting and balling back and fore during the 90 mins but it stays in the stadium

I remember the Uefa Cup Final being the day before Tommy's death. We were travelling home on the day of the fifteenth when me and my mates on the bus got a text of the news. We took a different route back to Ibrox, one that took us past Celtic Park so we could pay out respects. R.I.P Tommy

A fantastic video. I've seen this a few times over the years and it always makes me cry. And like so many other Rangers fans, I had just got back from Manchester, already hurting after the defeat to Zenit. But the news of Tommy's passing blew all that hurt away and offered me that one thing that levels all playing fields. Perspective. Not since the passing of Davie Cooper had I witnessed such unity in grief amongst the OF fans. RIP Tommy and Davie. You'll never walk alone nor ever be forgotten.

Rangers and Celtic are both fantastic clubs and despite their historical political and religious differences, they are forever intertwined....it’s the history that captivates the worldwide audience. There’s nothing wrong in knowing your history but it’s important we learn from it. The Old Firm is arguably the greatest derby in the world...but for the players, there is a mutual respect at the end of those 90 minutes. If the fans would show each other the same respect and appreciation, it truly would be the greatest derby on the planet. History, tradition, civility and respect. only seeing this video and I only heard about Tommy while in the airport in Manchester on my way home from the final and after hearing from about Tommy I had no more thoughts about what happened the night before. Tommy was a celtic man through and through and deserved the respect he got not only from rangers and celtic fans but football as a whole. I'll never forget the day of his funeral. A workmate of mine, gers thru and thru, didnt believe his fellow gers would be as respectful as him, so we went to Parkhead and were overwhelmed at the support. it moved us to tears.
We spent th rest of the day at a pub talkin bout Tommy. We are season ticket holders for our respective clubs and are die hard fans but that didnt matter. We were now 2 pals, drinkin to a great man.
We can beat this, thanks to Tommy, and for Tommy. God bless big man.

Its like when Davie cooper died,both sides went to the funeral,i dogged school to go to it and almost all of the present celtic squad from that time were there + scores of celtic fans.just shows when it really comes down to it we`re not fenian this or orange that we`re human and have the same feelings.
Tommy was a lovely guy, he is a Celtic legend, always admired Tommy, when he gave his all against my team Rangersm but always a classy guy, taken far too soon, Walter Smith looked upon Tommy as a son, still to this day a sad loss.

As a Rangers fan, Tommy Burns was a legend but more than that an exceptional person with a wicked sense of humour. Being on one side of the old firm does not stop you having respect for the players and fans on the other side. We are all gods people and there are things that go deeper than what team you support
I have great respect for Rangers and Celtic. Brought up in Glasgow I've supported Manchester United since I took my first breath but I also watched the Old Firm regularly. Sure tensions get high. I've been part of it and was attacked by 12 Celtic fans when I was just a wee boy after a Hampden Cup Final but was then helped out by other Celtic fans. The majority on both sides are great. I was lifted over the turnstyle by a Celtic fan when I was a child @ Jinky's and Bobby Lennox's testimonial when Celtic played United in 76.
My best mate (RIP) was a Celtic fan and his hero was Tommy Burns. Always Tommy Burns, not Jinky or Larsson. My pal also adored Manchester United. It was normal back in the 70's and 80's for Celtic fans to like United and vice versa. That's the same for my era but it seems younger fans don't share that so much and United and Rangers now have a much warmer relationship as was proved in CL games.
If Tommy's passing has helped to prevent even one incident of sectarianism then that's great. Glasgow should have much more to unite it than divide it. RIP Tommy Burns.

Tommy Burns was a fantastic football man, and a fantastic human being in general. A credit to his family and a credit to the sport he lit up for years. It does not matter who he played for, who he supported, what religion he was - taken away by a cruel illness before his time and it should never be forgotten what a remarkable person he was.

Thing that bring us together proper is dignity..we all hate the rascals, hard men or wind up merchants from the" other side" . As an unabashed Rangers supporter, my condolences to Celtic and to the football world, we all lost a great man in Tommy Burns. I remember watching Tommy as a boy (albeit from the other side), and I also remember Davie Cooper's death and seeing scarves from both Rangers and Celtic outside Ibrox in rememberance of him. That left an impression. Despite all the talk, the singing, the posturing and the (often pretend) bigotry- most of us really just appreciate the football. RIP Tommy- legend.

A week from we lost Walter Smith and I've always said, that image of Smith and McCoist carrying TB's coffin just shows rivalry goes out the window at these sad times. I remember very well where I was when I heard the news of TB's passing and I thing as a Rangers fan no matter who you support, no one should die at a young age like TB was. Rangers did a fitting thing on the day of TB's passing which I think was correct. YNWA TB

I never saw any Rangers banner mocking Tommy Burns death - this is lies.
I went to Parkhead to pay my respects on my way home from Fir Park after Rangers had drawn to give Celtic the advantage.
There were a dozen or so other Bears reading the messages of respect & chatting to Celtic fans. I remember standing next to a couple of Celts and one said to me "If there is any good today it's that we are together".
They were both in tears and I hugged them then left. I won't forget that day.
Tommy was a true gentleman and will now be playing footie in heaven with jim bater and davie cooper and managed again by jock stein.

It suited the ruling classes in Scotland to have these football fans hate each other for all these years, while the majority of both Rangers and Celtic fans lived in tennament slums and worked in heavy industry they were too busy fighting each other over 'religion' then fighting for better pay, housing, working conditions etc etc. Keep the working classes divided with religion & football and they will be exploited.
