  • The rather interesting opening scenes and title of "Charley-One-Eye" (1973), a little-known blaxploitation film starring Richard Roundtree and Roy Thinnes. Obviously PETA were not on the set during the filming of the dog fight! This is from the Australian VHS release by Global Video, circa 1985.

I remembered very clearly seeing this movie with my dad Behnan Masud back in the early seventies with my brother. It also featured Jim Kelly (enter the dragon flick). The title charley one eye was the name of a rooster with one eye. I have not seen this flick in forty years. Very good movie. Wish I can get a copy.

An unusual film, passed off as "a Western". Richard Roundtree and Roy Thinnes were
excellent in their roles as outcasts. The movie was closer to arthouse than blaxploitation,
as Richard then was at the height of his fame as "Shaft".
The bleak twist at the end of the film is probably the reason why it remains an obscurity,
which is a shame because it is worth checking out. I bought a new copy for three pounds,
    in a mainstream shop.

Not A bad movie. Ran a crossed it today can someone explain to me what happen at the end with the Indian and shooting the chickens? How did he get so many chickens (only had 2 or 3 after Bounty Hunter shot his pet) did the bandits give them to him or did sell out Roundtree or what?

I got a copy of this excellent movie on Ebay and it was in decent quality and well acted by the three main players. I really is a religious biblical type tale and has all the elements to hold ones interest. Like the fact that in the later part of the film it is an old abandon abode church they find themselves. The symbolism is dead on, and a surprising ending. Should have been a better known film. One will not recognize Roy Thinnes (The Invaders) as the Indian, Richard Roundtree is in top form.
