  • "Catastrophe" was a documentary film released theatrically in 1978 about natural and man-made disasters from throughout history, and presented by actor William Conrad. Here is the opening title sequence showing numerous catastrophes highlighted in the film. From the Australian K-Tel Home Video VHS release of circa 1986.

I had this on vhs until the tape wore out. I was hoping the whole show was on here. I haven't watched it in a decade but it's still my favorite disaster show of all time.

I can see why K-Tels have such an attraction now. Man they released some crazy stuff, I love them! The opening sequence here is amazing. That dude with his introspective stance is just hilarious.
Speaking of K-Tels, picked up Meatballs 2 just yesterday for $3, original box and all. Not sure if it's a rare one but I haven't seen a copy of it for ages.

I grew up watching this. It'd freak the poor kiddies out nowadays, especially "The Danger is...we will waste away." ending.

Haha, some good observations there, Darron. I found it rather odd that the final scene shows a controlled building demolition, which is not a catastrophe at all. I have never seen a copy of "Meatballs 2" in my life. Thus I would imagine it to be very rare!

Please can't someone post a copy of this film? I miss it so much and it is out of print.

I know you posted your comment three years ago and may already be aware of it, but the whole film is currently available to view on CZcams. This documentary is one of my all-time favorites, and I just now watched it again for the first time in a number of years, and it is still just as great to watch as in the past!

@@NYWF thank you, I will have to look for it. It has been so many years since I have seen it. I have so many great memories of when I was a kid and watching it on HBO.
