Tropical update: Beryl to hit Texas coast as Category 1 hurricane, forecasted path

- No major changes to Tropical Storm Beryl forecast with the Saturday 4pm update. Strengthening is still expected to happen prior to landfall on Monday morning. The forecast Category 1 hurricane should come ashore near Corpus Christi. Those along the coast will see storm surge of up to 5 feet. Everyone in the FOX 26 area should be prepared for 5-10 inches of rainfall with isolated spots getting 12-15 inches. Sunday should still be relatively quite, so finish those last minute preparations and settle in for a stormy Monday.

The storm isn't what concerns me. It's the power outages that come with it. A couple spotty storms rolled through the area earlier, and power flickered twice. Our grid is crap!
We can take 150mph winds but yes the power grid is getting worse and worse that's what scares the crap out of me

I'm so glad I moved to DFW area, we have our weather problems but I never had to run from a storm. I actually ended up in this area running from a storm and I stayed down here and never went back.
So far we are still looking pretty good here in Beaumont. Prayers for all those farther south in the Corpus and Victoria areas, please prepare and take cover. Get away if you can.
So, get cash, gas, a generator, ice, candles...and games/books for the kids bc they dont know how to live without social media😅

@@dalemills7926 well if you have to leave Texas, then Florida is the way to go. Nice to meet you. I think all of us in the Golden Triangle will be fine or at least have only minimal damage. The lower lying areas closer to the coast are most at risk if we get the storm surge this far east of landfall.

@@MM-km5zf oh, neither do I. But to add to your list....batteries, water, bread, charcoal maybe or propane, pet food and baby food/diapers. Refill any meds, charge all devices and battery backups. Find your flashlights and fans(if you have a generator). Secure anything in your yard or patio area that could fly away. Today I trimmed dead limbs from the back yard trees. . Check on your neighbors and family too. Good luck everyone!

The streets were flooded around the church and that's why they couldn't open it up until the flood waters went down...make sure you know the whole story first.

Texas power here lately has been terrible as it is without a hurricane so im definitely not looking forward to this, not to mention how prone to tornados texas has been lately, im hoping it doesn't stir up more destruction as it makes landfall. Prayers go out to all that have dealt with beryl and those yet to deal with it.

AMEN. I’m so over power outages. The freeze did me in. I’ve never been so cold in my entire life. I got excited for the snow- originally from KY where we had seasons. It was all fun and games til the power went out for 3 days. Told my husband to start looking into whole house generators. Has he done it? NO. And he lost four tanks full of tropical fish! So he’s no longer the generator czar. I’m taking over!

I have lived on the gulf coast 60 miles north of Houston for the past 50 + years. EVERY YEAR the weather people in this area try to talk a Storm into the most dangerous thing since the A bomb. Houston will get some rain. Storm will make land fall west of Galveston. Sick of the fear that they try to instill in the public.
