    What I like about Feyd as a character was that he had a spoiled upbringing, where his success was given to him, like how his opponents in the ring were wounded. Yet he respectfully removes his armor to fight his final opponent on equal terms. And then respectfully returns Paul’s comment before battle.
    He definitely is a psychopath but he tries to be honorable in moments where it matters. Even if it’s all an act. At the same time, he doesn’t hesitate killing people he believes are beneath him.
    Reminds me a little bit of the concentration camp guard from Schindler’s list. When he started “sparing” people because for a moment it was an illusion of grandeur he put upon himself. But all he was doing was essentially placing a thin leash on himself that he could chew off at any moment and revert back to the animal he is.

    • @dragansnyder2786
      @dragansnyder2786 Před 4 měsíci +1

      If we're being honest the Lynch version is book accurate, but it's definitely less cinematic, I've read the books and I personally enjoy the fight from doing part 2 more because feyd still wouldn't have been able to kill Paul, for something like that to work Paul would have to choose to let his own heart stop, if he's not going to choose to die you kind of have to cut his head off, I don't think even Feyd rautha would have done that to an honorable opponent, so in the end you still get the feeling that Feyd didn't stand a chance because Paul wasn't trying, but it also still gives you a narratively satisfying fight, so denise velneiuve did something with dune I didn't think anyone could ever do, he kept the original intent of the duel, while also making it more satisfying to watch for a viewing audience, this is one of the few places where I feel like the movie was actually better than the book, sure they did kind of change the nature of Paul's threat against the spice fields, but overall this film had more of a satisfying climax than the book did

As much as I like skarsgard in his other roles he is just playing Brando here from Apocalypse Now. I do like some of the new ideas in this film but the first half of the film is just a slowed up version of the 84 dune. And that’s fine but it’s not fair to rip the movie. The new film is better in almost everything except this duel, Paul and Chani, i actually like more the old version of the duel because it looks more natural while the new one just looks like a cliche final fight between the hero and the evil boss. The old version's Paul suits more what would you expect to see in Lisan Al Gaib, the old Chani actually seems like a better depiction of Chani, honestly I disliked Zendaya as Chani.

      I agree with your take on Chani, Zendaya is the worst part of the new movie.
