The first time I seen The temptations it was at the Latin casino in Cherry Hill the second time I seen them it was in Philadelphia Pennsylvania that's when they had Glen Leonard as the lead tenor but Damon Harris was a very good singer but for some reason we'll feel and very strong used him a lot less than Eddie Kendricks and I wonder why okay his his high notes were on point but for some reason you know he did not stand out at The temptations to leave tenant but nevertheless they were good and when Richard Street replaced Paul Williams he replaced a legacy he replaced one of the most dynamic singers and choreographers in the history of r&b and soul and pop music once again I love The temptations I will always be a temptation

+713skywalker, It's a shame that you all claim that Otis could not (cannot) sing.........The success of a group is as good/bad as the worse singer. Which proves that all the Temps had good voices and could sing. Just because he fired David did not take anything away from his voice. I love David Ruffin, BUT he allowed his success as the lead singer to get to his head. David joined the group after it was already formed. He replaced a member who walked away from the group, out of frusration, of not getting a hit song from Motown. And he should not have tried to hold the group hostage to change it's name to David Ruffin and The Temptation......It's his ego and his drugs addiction that led to his downfall. With all of your rave about David's great voice, he had only two hits over a ten year period.........WITH ALL THAT BEAUTIFUL VOICE OF HIS......He did not achieve the success he wanted or thought he could have had as a solo artist, so get off Otis' back

+713skywaker......I also give him credit for keeping the group alive and a household name for over 50 years, adapting and keeping up with the changes in the music industry. Damon was the closest to sounding like Eddie slight different if you dont pay attention you coukd have mistaken him for Eddie. Eddie just had his own thing, Damon was very underrated though he had a beautiful voice. Leonard is good too but you can tell the difference, his voice was different from Eddies which is a good thing because there was only one Eddie

Ruffin, Eddie, and Paul, 3/5th's of the classic Temptations were gone by this time. This was the first major recast of the group from the Golden Age of Motown, which set the bar for black male vocal groups. While they were commercially successful, the true essence of the Temptations, what they did with the original five, in the time they did it will never be duplicated. Of course, subsequent iterations of the group with only Otis as the sole survivor, are little more than an Oldies act, riding the crest of the hit wave that was David, Eddie, Paul, Melvin, and of course Otis...THE Temptations! 👑🎸🎵

Actually Richard was an original member. When he & another member left, enter David. He came back again to help when Paul started drinking too much for shows and he returned permanently after Paul was out. But he was an original member

@@reemj3675 no. Richard was a member of Otis and the Distance. Never was he apart of The Primes. The Primes then added Otis and Melvin and Al to their group and still went as The Primes until going as The Elgins and then The Tempts. Also Paul had sickle cell so drinking was his cope

Motown had so many great vocal groups : The Miracles, The Spinners, The Isleys, The Contours, The Originals etc. but The Temptations were, arguably, the best. Yes, The Wonderful Miracles had the "Immortal" Smokey Robinson, but The Temptations, over the years could boast the voices of Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin, ex-Contour Dennis Edwards (seen here), Paul Williams, Melvin Franklin and Damon Harris - Stop! Check Please! I'm privileged to have seen the guys live on several occasions - every one a Memorable experience. This performance takes me back to my early 20s, Oh Boy where did those 50 years go? Belated Thanks for this upload - Very much appreciated!
