    On several of the Air Force websites in the career section, it says that one of the qualification for Dental Assistant 4Y0X1 is "Completion of a minimum two-year American Dental Association-accredited degree awarding
    Dental Hygiene program." Is this something you had to complete beforehand to qualify? I feel like most of the videos from others who have this career did not have to have any sort of certification. I'd be interested in doing that schooling, but that would push basic out at least another 3 years or I'd have to choose a different #1!

    • @Aaaalliyyaah
      @Aaaalliyyaah  Pƙed 3 lety +8

      You do not need this to qualify. You just need to be at least 18 with normal color vision. However, prior knowledge does help you secure this AFSC.

    • @Aaaalliyyaah
      @Aaaalliyyaah  Pƙed rokem

      Congrats and welcome! You can become a hygienist through the Air Force and a CDA. To do hygiene you have to be accepted into the hygiene program and meet those requirements. For CDA (it’s almost like RDA you can look up the differences.) you should’ve taken the IC and radiology danb tests. If you passed both all you need is chair side and you’ll have your CDA!

      Reese Orr thank you for watching! I’m not sure exactly about how many dental jobs come available, but I know medical jobs can be hard to lock in (that’s just from what I hear) I don’t know if that’s factual. Being prior assistant, we did not clean teeth, however, when you become a senior airman in the airforce you go to Prophylaxis training and you can clean teeth. Not as extensive as a hygienist. As a civilian, you’d be a dental assistant but you can get an opportunity to be sent to school to be a hygienist.

      @@plmkon2892 you have to be an assistant and then apply to hygiene school if you want to go through the Air Force’s program. If wanting to just go to any school for hygiene and not the program the Air Force provides, you can be any AFSC and use your tuition assistance or GI bill.
