On Elliot Anderson, to put into perspective he was out on loan, playing in League 2 two years ago. He was retained at the club last season, was brilliant in pre-season, and this was going to be his real break through year. Unfortunately, he suffered a back injury, and is only just coming back. Sad thing, with a fit Joelinton or Willock, he will struggle to get in the side. I mean no disrespect to Spurs or Villa, but the amount of injuries we've had to key players this season is off the charts, with only half the injuries, I doubt either of you would be fighting for fourth place. As it's panning out now, I'll be happy finishing above Man U, 6th would be brilliant after the season we've had. 5th might be enough for you to qualify for the Champions League, which would be better than you got last season, so chin up mate. Great and honest summary of the game, and respect shown to Newcastle and some of our players.

Agree with this, this video appeared on my recommended ended for some reason. I expected the usual “longstaff shit and we made him look good, who the fuck is Anderson etc” but this guy actually recognises these players are well drilled and we’re 6th for a reason despite the shocking injury issues.

Another Maggie here, I don't know this particular fan---but kudos to him, his reasoning was lucid and extremely well thought out + he nailed it with one sentence.....Spurs just did not energize their midfield. The result was amazing for Newcastle, but I really feel for all those London fans who had another wasted day out---Brilliant post.

    Absolutely spot on analysis.
The 121 approach taken by Howe worked an absolute treat in a high risk/high reward strategy.
There's parts you only see at the match, like Spurs having a goal kick, lining up as 424, NUFC going man for man and then Schar following Son all the way into the RWB position to win the ball high - that was after about 3 minutes

Well Eric Dier exposed a lot of the issues we have in a recent interview. He said the players don't work on any tactics. All week they just work on shape, and how we will play, but nothing on the opposition and how to expose their weaknesses. It's precisely why we have no plan b, or play to the weaknesses of the opposition. It' the same every game, and we are so predictable it's criminal. You just soak up a bit of pressure, and before you know it the huge gaps at the back will be exposed time and time again.

Buy isak? Newcastle paid 70 million for him. Lets be real here, will levy pay the 150 million it will probably take to get Newcastle to accept a bid? If Newcastle were willing to accept bids around there then only city once haarland leaves to spain, real or Barcelona will be able to pay that. Newcastle are aiming to be the best, they have a fantastc keeper pope, 2 amazing full backs in tino livramento and tripper, 2 excellent midfielders in bruno g and joelinton, 2 excellent wingers kn Gordon and barnes and a excellent striker. 11 injuries most of the season and they are only 10 points behind. Newcastle are not the Newcastle of old, taking their best players maybe a thing of ghe past for 99% of clubs.

Time to play 433. Maddison has offered next to nothing going forward for several weeks now and we’re so leaky in defence (and midfield) so go with 3 out of Bentancur, Sarr, Bissouma and Hjobjerg as a midfield 3. To go and perform like that after the embarrassment last season is absolutely disgraceful.
Our level of performance has been average to poor since about December so this has been coming. Even the games we’ve won, we’ve struggled to control the game or had to fight to come back and win it. It’s always a struggle. Why is this? Why are we unable to dictate the tempo AND win the ball back or break up counter-attacks?
I’m all for entertaining football, but if we keep opening up like Danielle Lloyd whenever she saw a PL footballer in the 2000’s then we’ll never get anywhere. I can’t wait until this season ends as there needs to be a massive improvement from us defensively as a whole.

I can see Ange lasting until the summer, but without a plan B, His reign could be short, but the real problem we have, and have had for years, we manage to put out a group of players, that all have a rating of around 3, at the same time, based on todays game, not 1 of them would walk into any top 4 team, we have 3 games upcoming that I cant see us getting a point from, we may hold onto 5th, but I wouldn't bet on it, set them up the same way, next game and itll be lambs to the slaughter

How does a manager get this far with that little acumen? I think he’s a manager not a coach. Guardiola, Klopp, Howe and Arteta are the best four coaches in the PL. Ange is like an old school manager who’s just telling them what he wants to happen, not telling them how he expects it to.

A very honest non biased opinion which is refreshing for a change, personally I think spurs jst don't have enough aggression in their 11, you need the ugly players who just rough the opposition up a bit, Richarlison is of that ilk but yous need another 2 or 3 with that tenacity and aggression like Bruno or Joelinton and willock and Anderson, blend that with the likes of Madison and son and you'd have a good good side, what's missing is 100% tough tackling ( not dirty ) aggressive players. And you need at least 2 or 3, but good video mate .

It will be interesting to see how the Ange reign pans out over the next season or so. Pep and Klopp had their issues with their footballing philosophies and styles of play when they came to the Premiership. Essentially they needed to make major changes the to squads they inherited by bringing in better quality of players for their respective systems. The question is will Ange learn to become savvy enough to make adaptations when needed or persist with this high risk high reward football.

Supported ange all season and still do but Fulham was awful…put that down to a one off blip but it’s not a blip. We’ve been bang average since the Chelsea match derailed us…other than a second half v villa we’ve not played well for some time. We’re either getting smashed now or grinding results out by skin of our teeth but we never control games. We’re lacking leadership, a quality striker, our midfield looks flimsy and Werner while not completely awful…is not going to get us where we want…..at 0-0 he wasted a decent chance and same against Fulham…Id also cash in on Romero think he’s overrated…use money from him and whatever we have in the kitty to buy a solid cb like Guehi, a 6, striker and another wide attacking player.

Nearly 500 accurate passes to their what 140 maybe. Ange's system will work better when we have the right players in the right positions, Firstly Son back on the left and not with his back to goal where his is completely wasted, Use Werner and Richy up front as they can play better with their backs to goal. Lets face it they dont really score enough from the left either, But at least we get our best player in Son in his best position where he can affect games and also then in turn help out more with the pressing in midfield

We may only get up to 6 points from the final 6 games... Terrible run of opponents coming up and teams now know how to exploit us...along with Porro being injured is bad news man. I've loved this season but I'm not holding any expectations of top 4, because unless we get a spectacular play and managerial substitute decisions bang on every week and most opponents go down to 9 men on the day🤪 we're toast. A perfect display til the end of season is a lot to ask from us this year.

If Ange cannot see those weakness he will not last the 4 year contract he has signed for. I want to know why most of them have lost their early season form and just cannot seem to get near it ! God, that was a woeful performance by Spurs and I don't think Newcastle were particularly exceptional yesterday. What did we have, one, two shots on goal? I'm no good at tactical analysis but Son is no striker; he plays his best football outside the box, I think. Also, was Van de Van our only Centre-back?? He is blamed for a lot of the goals but what was Romero doing? He seemed pretty absent, although I won't blame him for the 2nd goal as it was 'assisted' by Porro. Dire football by Spurs and I hope Poste is suitably furious about it and we see a proper reaction next game.
