Volcanic torrent always hits for 2 by the way, because by the time it resolves you’ve already cast two spells this turn (itself and the cascaded card)
Rarely will hit for 1 if you choose not to cast the cascaded card, but can assume at least 2 most of the time!

my favorite mosswort bridge moment was in an abzan deck and I hid away an Inkshield... someone craterhoofed and jokily asked if I had a fog with my 2 green mana up... it was so satisfying
Favorite card from this list is Reckless Fireweaver, I actually have it as a backup win con in my cedh Malcolm/Kediss deck. Make it a Pirate with Malcolm on the field? Bam, you’ve won the game in a single treasure generation because it makes a loop that kills the table making treasures and repeating. I LOVE that common! Definitely a budget bomb!
Hey I run that exact tech in my Malcom/kediss deck. It’s so good in that deck. Even if you don’t have a type change in hand putting a curiosity effect on it can be insane.

@@kstandish42 yes for maskwood no for Magda. I keep considering putting it in. I don’t run the Niv win-con but I do have some pretty great utility dragons.
Also sigil of sleep on Malcom or fireweaver is super fun.

@@benglatt1389 even if you’re not playing any super valuable dragons, Magda with the maskwood nexus means you tutor all your pirates to field at instant speed so you can grab something like Glinthorn Buccaneer whenever you need to end the game! Worth playing at least for me in cedh. But super happy to see someone else love the lizard paired with Malcolm!
@@kstandish42 oh that is an awesome combo! Mine is sub cEDH I took out glinthorn to avoid the easy combo win. But yeah they are such a fun pair.
This series is actually super useful. Sometimes I don't notice that some of these very good cards have become so cheap. Thanks for the suggestions!
If you guys havnt talked about it some pretty cool budget bombs:
Dragons rage channeler: in edh? 1 mana+surveil is insane in non combo artifact decks. The evasion lets it swing over people and the surveil works great at filtering draw while playing artifacts.
Prowling geist catcher: how is this card bulk? Its really strong in any deck that runs sac outlets. Goes infinite with a ham sandwich for combo spikes (karmic guide, kikijiki, revilark) and for less combo spikes, lets you flicker your board of many enter the battlefield creatures, while having a "leavr the battlefield clause" which lets you ephemerate effects the card or makes it uncounterable to exile effects.
Witch of the Moors is a bomb in Ayara for sure... Sheoldred Jr except in Ayara it might as well be Sheoldred.
Witch is better, 5cmc is good rate, shreold just cost too damn much

I built a deck about 4 years ago with Momir Vig as my commander. I had Master Biomancer in the deck and regularly had creatures entering the battlefield with millions of counters on them. Very fun card indeed.

I have an Osgir deck that I absolutely HAD to get the foil version of Reckless Fireweaver in foil for, even though it's 10 dollars. The foil version just hits different

Escape to the Wilds is a pet card i jam into anything with gruul colors. It warms my heart to hear Wild Growth getting so much love.
I played mosswort bridge for the first time after buying it because i was curious. I got an infinite mana source and was able to flash it in so it didn’t have summoning sickness and it was instantly my favorite new card
I remember passing on witch of the moors in a budget deck because it used to be pricier(around $5 or so), but I'm glad to know that it's gone under $1.
But I also like theiving amalgam in my Satoru Umezawa deck since he's best used for getting high cmc creatures out easily and the deck also has a card stealing sub-theme. I think the amalgam's 2nd half effect is pretty decent as long as you can reliably keep stealing opponents' creatures with recurring etb effects on agent of treachery or sepulchral primordial.
I also have volcanic torrent already going right into my spellslinger copy deck
I don't know why rampant rejuvenator is still cheap right now because that card is absolutely staple ramp potential in any deck that uses green, especially since green gives out +1/+1 counters like candy on halloween
Dude, I didn't know Xenagos was budget now either. Last time I looked at him a couple years ago he was around $6-7

Great episode! Imprisoned in the Moon is taking off. I'm telling people they gotta start running bouncelands again; it's secret tech! I also recommend Master Biomancer in Volo decks, even though it won't get copied; it's just good value.
Whooo Volcanic Torrent. That’s one of those cards I adore but never see in other decks at the table. Also notably for Volcanic Torrent X=3 it just requires one thing before it and the thing you cascade into being worth casting (I have had a sad time or two of hitting a like deflecting swat).
Feels like this list is a tribute to Cherries' Faldorn deck. Hope we get to see it in action on Shuffle Scuffle soon!
I love Witch of the Moors in my Gyome deck, it does some work.
Good call on Volcanic Torrent. I run that in a Jhoira Storm deck. So far, my record is 27 damage.
I thoroughly enjoy imprisoning commanders on the moon, especially in my Tameshi deck and when they get rid of the enchantment I like to say, ''That wizard came from the moon'' LOL :P
Had to grab Escape to the Wilds, a cool 19 cents. It’s nice to have a burst of card advantage that isn’t boardstate dependent in those colors.
One time somebody wheeled with Notion Thief on the field. I was the only one with 4 cards exiled with a removal spell. Won that game. Next time pay more attention, besides asking “how many cards in hand?”. Great spell!
As far as the Volcanic Torrent, I myself was kinda put off by the 5 mana value but I didn't really factor in the cascade value. Definitely going to try it out now

I have reckless fireweaver in my Jolene Treasure Tribal deck and it is insane value.
I love mosswort bridge in my yarok deck! Double hideaway triggers or more with spark double or one of the sakashimas. You can cast all the cards under it with one activation too! I confirmed this with judges

I've got Thieving Amalgam near the top end of my Myrkul deck. Funny thing is, Myrkul doesn't care if you owned the creature when it dies in order for you to exile it and make an enchantment copy
Archetype of Imagination is my favorit way to give my Team flying. yes it dies to almost anything but the upside of your opponents loosing flying is soooo huge.
It's interesting to watch you write off Xenagos' Ulti like that, because he's generating mana vs. affecting opponents in any way he's easy to forget about and I'm regularly able to Ult him and drop 3+ fat creatures off the top of my deck for free. It's relevant, he has almost no down side
White also has a version of imprison in the moon that turns them into a treasure.
Blue recently got 2 in new kappenna that turns them into a 1/1 with no abilities and another that turns them into a clue token.
Imprison is still better than all of those, by the virtue that it turns the creature into a hard-to-remove permanent type. The other 3 are all fairly easy for the controller to get rid of, while Imprison can shut down a commander for 4+ turns easily.
@@lemonsnek9393 I mean both the clue and treasure one does still get the commander dead and get more commander tax on them. Which I think is more of the point.

Lae'zel also doesn't specify that it needs to be an effect like on doubling season, so when you tick up a planeswalkers loyalty it still applies.
A thing 90% of the people I've seen use doubling season don't realize is that a loyalty ability adding counters is a cost, not an effect, so doubling season doesn't apply to it.
My favorite home for master biomancer is in the mimeoplasm. Now all of your creatures are the mimeoplasm.
I'm often confused if a card is good on budget vs not a budget. The way I usually figure that out is looking at if it costs more than any combo meal from a fast food joint.
Remorseful cleric is a nice lad who strikes people in the air and then boom no more graveyard for you mr rakdos reanimator

Rampant Rejuvenator can be such a bully. Throw it sideways at enemies and they have to decide if they want to ramp you or take damage. And I Chishiro this plant just keeps growing.
Lae-Zel is on deck in my Torens deck.... it's just so hard to slot in and i don't want to willy-nilly it. I have so much counter synergy it's going to take some time... and that's why I think it's so low right now. There are a ton of competing creatures(and non-creatures) in that slot.
I really like remorseful cleric with quintorius and if we ever get more lore hold. I'm doing that with Tiana/quintorius. Graveyard LTB

I love Witch of the Moors in my Queza deck. It's crippling against voltron decks, which Queza is very vulnerable against.

Volcanic torrent is in my prosper deck. Lots of cheap spells, and loads of treasures. It's easy to deal 4-6 damage to all opp creatures
Also it could cascade into Delayed Blast Fireball, which is auto-include in those strategies

Rampant Rejuvenator is going into Mimeoplasm for me... Imagine a 10/10 or bigger version swinging every turn before getting blown up and ramping for 10.
Witch of the Moors is a weird card, I definitely wouldn't say it's better than Sheoldred, but in the right deck it certainly is. I remember when it first came out, it cost enough that I just couldn't justify it, especially as I was trimming out life gain from the deck that would want the effect the most. It might be worth a look in a deck that can gain life more consistently, it's a strong effect obviously.
Thieving Amalgam IIRC is bad card draw too. You can flip those Manifests according to Gatherer, especially if your deck can make off-colour mana, you get something better and it's still going to have the drain on death.
Rampant rejuvenater is an all star in my kodama of the west tree deck
Remorseful Cleric is a mainstay in my kykar deck

I was looking at witch of the moors just yesterday, as I bought my copy around $12. Not mad it went down, just sad noones playing it...
I actually want to buid tha liara poryr deck now but I dont know how to build it lol. Its pretty versatile, you can build it for stax, arrifacts, extra combats, or just good old fashioned beat downs. A myriad deck might also be really good.
I've built mine as a super aggressive deck that casts really cheap artifacts and dominates the early game

I was playing a game on mtgo and my opponent cast primal surge. I had mosswort bridge on the field with casualties of war hid away. I caught concordant cross roads and akromas memorial then they scooped. As salty as the ocean.

While wild growth is great an better than llanowar it’s still the same issue. Can’t really say it’s a llanowar with haste cause if turn one you play a forest, tap it to cast wild growth and enchant your tapped forest. You still have to wait for your next turn to get anything out of it. It just better because it’s harder to remove from the board
Well turn 1 It's like llanowar elf, but every other turn you just enchant an untapped land
