- "Joseph Conrad's The Inn of the Two Witches: A Find" is a gripping short story that delves into the mysterious and supernatural. It revolves around the discovery of a manuscript by a British officer, which recounts the eerie events experienced by a young man, John, at a desolate Spanish inn during the Napoleonic Wars. This inn, run by two sinister old women rumored to be witches, becomes the setting for a series of unexplained and terrifying occurrences, including the mysterious disappearance of guests. As John becomes entangled in the inn's dark history, he encounters a beautiful but ghostly woman, leading to a climactic revelation that intertwines love, betrayal, and the supernatural.

These get sent to my daughter on a weekly basis. She LOVES these stories ❤
I am a Greek with English Language and Appreciation! I enjoyed this very much! Greetings from Athens Greece!😊
What a great surprise to see a compatriot have such fine taste! Cheers from Athens ^^
Conrad, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy?! This surfer dude has serious taste and I love it!! Congratulations on having one of the best sites that expound the greatest literature ever written. One thing I hate is...Use of AI narration. It is soulless and devoid of any character and they often cannot pronounce words correctly. But the stories are great. Thankyou.
WELL SAID! ❤
IT'S AN A.I.? THEY SHOULD PUT 1 TO REPLACE SLOW-JOE.
TRUMP2024
Heart of darkness by Conrad was high comedy as most of his tales
Apocalypse now movie was way off the mark odd
Narrator is good but Spanish ‘si’ is pronounced ‘see’ , not ‘seye’.
What a gift 🎁 we ALL thank YOU!
For a a guy (me) who is in a constant state of anxiety over being 59, and knowing that the end is closer than the beginning, really resonated with me.
At the beginning when he starts talking, he provides a small diatribe on the pros and cons of being 60, and the attendant fear, depression and anxiety associated with getting old.
He philosophically articulates the hope's and fears of being 60. I have never heard anyone articulate someone's quasi-tormented state of mind at getting older, expressed in a kind, sensitive and compassionate way, like he understands the profound emotional duress that is associated with getting older.
Yeah lm 55
Thank you kindly ❤. I really appreciate the people who gift us these gems 😁. Happy vibes 🎉🎉
Too many commercials. Takes me out of the story.
Josef Conrad. Absolutely genius. ....from heart of darkness to his short stories and novellas ..the greatest novelist of his age and on the podium of any age. So influential...I can listen to Conrad any time...
I first heard of Heart of Darkness in 1970 from a wonderful English teacher, Mrs. Kelker, Beautiful Soul💫
Thank you for the brainwave reading. From an underpaid professional ( 34 years teacher) who appreciates a well-told story, I thank you for these fantabulous stories ❤️
Lovely narration; whimsical tale for the “horror” genre….
CZcams Controls ADS NOT channel creator!
I can't believe this. Maybe you can explain to me, why some channels, lets say yoga or meditation have one or more ads, when others have none.
@@CarLa-dn9mssometimes the ads come from CZcams and the creators get nothing from it other times the ads are split a creator can choose to have 5 or 10 ads on a video an hour long and CZcams adds on top of that with there own ads. Other times they deem the video to be unacceptable for ads and won't allow it. It's a whole mess I've watched a few videos on how it works because I have no life lol
I don't pay for cable...I pay for youtube premium...see zero ads...when I watch tv...it is 90% youtube and about 10% other streaming. Cheaper than cable and never see ads! ❤
Excellent narration of fascinating story. Conrad would be more than pleased.❤
I really enjoyed this story!
I have no complaints_ just ~1,000 thank yous~ for your providing us with these literary gems🔥
Yous , lol
@@Dada-ip2jt when have I EVER used that word?
Great story.
Listening for the second time as the narration lulled me to sleep. Absolutely lovely voice. Subscribed.
Is it. Free to subscribe ?
@@karensmith2204 yes
Great story!
This is great. Just found your channel! Subbed and liked! Thankyou!😊
Thanks for doing this. no criticism but if you are reading more about the navy or seagoing, you might like to look into the pronunciation used in this industry: Forecastle - foc'sal; Coxswain - Coxon; boatswain - bosun etc
It's an AI naration...not a reader ..it won't be long before we won't be able to tell..the computers are taking over audio books .. what will libravox do then ...
@@user-zo5um2vu1z thanks. some language will be lost
Beautiful voice
I just found this channel, and I absolutely 💯 love it! Love your voice, not to mention great story! Thank you for putting it out there for us all that refuse to pay for great stories- knowledge! 😊
Way too many ads!!! I'm outa here. 😢
Great story. Commercials such. Too new for my Patronage
Good trick for getting rid of ads open the video and if you get several ads close it open it again immediately close and open again works for me 9 times out of 10.
Unfortunately, too many interruptions of lengthy ads ☹️
CZcams Premium is 14.99 a month… Get it and Quit complaining about ads
Agreed!!!! Have You Tube Premium instead of cable.
🦀 you'll never get a penny outta me!!
MASTERFUL Narration of a Gripping Tale! Bravo!👏
If using AI for narration means more great stories like this one are available on CZcams then I'm all for it. There are some human readers of audiobooks that are so poor I can't listen to them.
This voice is my favorite one too!
I've seen a film of this story, possibly in the 1960's. I'm unable to find it on the net
In the silence of the night, may you find serenity and comfort, wrapping yourself in the blanket of peaceful slumber. Goodnight, dear friends, and may the dawn bring you renewed vigor and enthusiasm. 💤💤💤
All the people complaining about ads...first time on youtube or internet in general? CZcams premium worth the cost. Many cable stations have commercials and cable is way more expensive.
Love you too 😘 💓
Farewell and adieu to you fine Spanish ladies.
Farewell and adieu to you ladies of Spain...
👍🇦🇺
Is that Toast of London?
1 more ad and i'm gone.
Channel has No control over ads. Only way to avoid is by getting UTube Premium. CZcams controls ALL ads.
And ask for your money back.
Passed….way too many ads…..
That's unfortunate. Zero ads with yt premium though. It's truly worth it imo.
YT Premium. A necessity if you watch YT often
I pay 8.99 a month for you tube premium . No ads ever!
We’re not entitled to free entertainment, as lovely as that would be. A monthly fee to CZcams eliminates all ads.
Download and listen to it without net on. Simple.
I will not buy any product that bothers me with their commercials because I hate f****** commercials
Lord Jim
The reader good, but the pronunciation of a seaman, see if you hear😊
probably a good story, wouldn't know. Way too many commercial interruptions.
Bye 👋
You are entitled to free entertainment? Ok then. ($9.99/mo eliminates ads.)
I have no problem with commercial advertisements, but this particular stream has an extreme amount and they are not your typical 15 or 30 seconds, they are infomercials
The narrator sounds like Dominic West
Dat Kanye’s Bro?
@@JoeBamaSmokesCrack Unless Kanye is white, I don't think so bruddah 😂
Not even!
This is the guy from Rock Star/300, no?
Ads ads ads 😂😂😂
Ads. Arse
When one man alone, decides to retranslated things differently that entire contingencies and teams of scholarly translators had previously translated another way, my alarm bells go off! He speaks in scholarly language, makes grammatical and syntax references as if the teams of scholars that previously translated it to the way that we generally read it as today are wrong, I just have to shake my head and walk away. You have to have some kind of ego to think that you know more then the majority of Scholars
Joseph Conrad wrote in English. This was not translated
Not sure what you mean
Boring 👎🏻
Whaaat. Conrad boring.... He's not modern best seller .it's classic lit
The ai naration is grim..they all are.
Indeed this is got a very similar plot’s device (not the plot itself, just the basic thieves m.o.) to a Wilkie Collins story “A Very Strange Bed”, and at least two other famous Gothic Ghost-Detective writers’ stories, whose exact authors and stories names I can’t quite recall off the top of my head: one about a mill hotel, another about a French Hotel where some former Napoleonic Imperial Guards are rolling tourists (unless that’s the Wilkie one and I’m mixing it up with another).
Great stuff in either case, as I LOVE RN genre and Gothic genred tales.
Cheers, Redux! Glad I’m a newish sub and rediscovered your chan with this upload!
This was a great Conrad story, usually I can’t stand his moribund plots. Thanks!
Lol, missed this: “look at the telephones… for shattering our… peace of mind” - irony of ironies, considering what many of us are using to listen and comment, and it’s comparatively devastating impact already.
