The MTA 484 used to be the one that went to Pomona from Los Angeles. The Foothill Transit 480, 482, and 2 others were also the LA buses. Silver Streak took over most of those routes.
Used to drive the 684,great line, not heavy, really kick back and enjoyable!!Too bad we gave all the good stuff to foothill,ah well, remember the 471?Did that one the weekend before it got sold to foothill, see, the good ole days are gone!
A twinkie on the 684...LMAO!!! I remember the 471...I rode it a couple of times when I was in high school...back when they had the 25, 27, & 2900s running out of D9
Rest in Peace 684. Your brother and sister 484 and 490 better not go to heaven too. They are the last 2 MTA routes that are in the Pomona area. The Flexibles and TMC RTS were the legends of the MTA. The Pomona Division was near the LA/SBD County line at Mission Ave near were the Foothill Transit headquarters division is today.
You must one of them New Technology people. The DDEC Series 50 was based off the 6V71, 6V92, and 8V71 engines. If it was not for those, you wouldn't have the S50s
Yo man.....EXCELLENT RECORDING!!!! Damn I miss these engines in NYC. NYCTA repowered them to DDEC Series 50 EGR engines which suck ass on a hot steamy day
Why did they change those routes?484,490,the ones that started around the Cal Poly Pomona area?I remember them there in 2007.A year later they were gone.
Being around them everywhere I go in NYC,it gets boring quick. There are some buses that sound good with a 50 in em but nothing beats some classic bus action.Sorry dude.
WRONG AGAIN! The Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine block were constructed in 1980s about 1986 plus 1987 plus it were used then as well. The Series 50 were made off the originale genuwine 60 series block = 2(-) chambers from that Series 60 and plus it were also experementale in there 1980s. there Series 92 plus there Series 71 no canshaft in there curret location for on there Serioius 50 and 60 engines plus that crankcaser and gearline plus rockers as well!
Man you trippin!!! The 6V92TA, 8V71, and 6V71 were the best damn engines out there. You never had to worry about bullshit breakdowns like you do now!!!!!
Wrong absoluty wrong. there Detroit Diesels 60 series were absoluty NOT base off those old engines which have been around for much much longer so has been very diffrents a well. plus your would still get the series 50 from that series 60 as well because it basis were NOT form the old series 71 nor series 92 Detroits. please thinks first before type please.
Cool.
Love L.A.

The RTS's are now diesel powered.
I don't know why people knock the LA MTA public transportation in So Cal. I rode the #20 from La Brea to Downtown in less than half an hour.
@MVRTA108 You're right. But it always depends on the bus.

Exactly who knocks LAMTA?Whoever they are are ignorant. They're one of the best in the nation.
FYI,the DD50's were the dirtest engine's ever built.Thats why they dont make them anymore.Dont believe me,ask around.
nope.....DD60 wasnt made til around 93-94...what I mean is technology wise youi wouldnt have the DD50....
