  • “We used to point to the excesses in Belgium, in Holland, as a cautionary tale, but it's now Canada that's become that. The policy direction is to offer euthanasia as an alternative to addictions.”
    Jason Kenney is the former Premier of Alberta and a Canadian conservative politician. He sits down with Steven Edginton to discuss the state of his country, including new euthanasia laws. Watch the full interview above or listen on your podcast app by searching “Off Script”.

      16:40 he had his chance to be truthful. He said the hospitals were full when anyone getting treatment for cancer etc. saw they were empty! He said Alberta allowed people to worship! Only Mosques were not harassed. Yep, shortly after 16:40 in this video is where I couldn't listen anymore. Unbelievable, these politicians think everyone is a moron or they just don't think we have an power at all to influence anything.

    I can't believe he has the audacity to play the victim card after watching so many suffer under his leadership. He was voted down with a leadership confidence vote because an overwhelming majority of Albertans got involved in politics because of his negligence in leadership. Our healthcare was suffering for over 30 years in Alberta and now it's even worse. I will never forget, nor will I ever forgive. What Kenney did was like most western politicians, is abdicate his responsibilities as a Premier. He stepped aside and let an unelected health official make policy and 'law' during the recent world flu. Instead of taking into account their opinions, as well as people in other fields and make a decision himself as elected leader. He also brought in v mandates weeks after claiming he wouldn't. This is why he's not current Premier.
    He buckled.

    • @Sylvie_M
      @Sylvie_M Před 5 měsíci

      The law at the time as described by a recent court finding stated that the Medical Officer of Health had the authority to make health policy. Non-medical politicians do not have the knowledge and at that time did not have the authority to impose health policy. He is not Premier anymore because a faction of far rightists called the Take Back Alberta movement took over the committee and deposed him.

    Kenny always struck me as an opportunist. Because he always had his sights set on federal politics he never could bring himself to make the policy choices and tough decisions he needed to make for his own province for fear it would negatively impact his national ambitions. In that respect he was not fit to run Alberta as he didn't place it's need above his own. At least this is the way I saw him.
