Very interesting. A follow-up covering what these applications (OnionShare, mkp224o etc) actually do would be useful. For example, does the ToR network use something similar to DNS to map an onion URL to an IP? Is TCP/IP even used? A technology comparison to the clear web would be interesting.

Awesome guide as usual, thanks Chuck! and i totally get the Coolness of being able to do this, despite all the naysayers and conspiracy theorists out there. In my naivete and lack of {suspense opening music} Dark Web knowledge, it would appear an excellent method of sharing a website with family and close friends that isn't google-able and is under lock and shared Key. Need to watch the first two episodes now to get more of a feel for this dark web stuff as it is fascinating! (from a tech point of view)

I'm getting all kinds of errors, and warnings that the repository doesn't exist. I've consulted the kali repository page to no avail. In fact none of my tools work: Metasploit, Apktool, fluxion, nothing. Appreciate any help with repository.

Maybe they're not necessarily seeking anonymity. It's a cheap perhaps even free and independent way to host a website without paying for a domain and being reliant on domain registrars... as long as your audience can access it of course. Brave Browser now has Tor built in - if other browsers follow suit we could just publish websites there. Good for freedom from censorship...
Are MacBooks safe/good for this kinda stuff. I want a laptop but I’m used to using windows but Ik Mac is preferred by a lot for stuff like everyday or school related.

Is there a way to use my IOT stuff like Alexa, Ecobee, etc where it has the ability to connect to internet so I can use them away from home but where only I can access them? Not the dark web but the Tor network. Doesn't the term dark web refer to the use of a platform and not the platform itself because the platform is the Tor network.
Dark web just means you don't have a DNS name attached to the server
