The Original Band Prism from Canada, was 1 of the greatest bands in the world, , it’s so sad with the loss of lead singer Ron Tabak his voice can never be duplicated, and the rest of the band member’s were all great together, Canada, came out with many great bands, like April Wine, Trooper, Of course Prism, The Guess Who, and so many singers , I always loved the Canadian bands, I’m in the USA, but still wanted to hear what Canada came with👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️❤️❤️❤️

Hi all.. I am singing backgrounds with Ronnie on this track. I knew him well and yes his leaving this world is totally due to police brutality and the failure of proper inverstigation and procedure when he suffered a seizure at the police station, he should never have been there and should have been at the hospital because he had been hit by a car riding his bicycle. I also worked with Robbie and his sister Cheryl, The Raes ... all history now and much of it filled with melancholy and sadness. I am so glad you keep him in your hearts. Nancy Nash

Hi Sazacha, and thanks for your comment! I have spent over a decade researching the band, and host an archive called "Fans of PRISM: The Ron Tabak Era" on Facebook. I am very aware of who you are and your incredible contributions to Prism recordings and "The Rae's" variety show for its entire run...(alongside so many other popular Canadian songs throughout the years). This footage is part of the entire series that I personally acquired from Cherrill Rae. I would really like to talk with you about your times in the studio with Jane Mortifee, Bruce Fairbairn and PRISM...and the other songs like "You Walked Away Again", "Night To Remember", etc... Likewise, I have numerous bed tracks and demos which might bring back some good memories of those times. Please message me and please join my Facebook page if you like. It would be a thrill to talk with you anytime!

@daaf63 He never got his second chance to take Prism to the next level. I suppose I have mixed feelings of anger and sadness. Anger at the industry for not providing these musicians with more support and less pressure to produce sales and fill concert venues. And sadness that he went so young and he had such a bright future.

I saw Prism on Terry David Mulligan's music show in the 70's before they hit it big. They sounded average, but once they found their sound with Tabak's incredibly unique voice, they launched. So high that they were soon playing the Martian Astrobowl :) My brother had the 8-track with the song Take Me to the Kaptain. Listened to that over and over and over.

Tabak decided to cycle to Harlow's home on Christmas Eve 1984 as a way to get some exercise. This turned out to be poor judgment, as the roads were snow covered and he rode at night without a headlight and helmet. It is believed that on the way, Tabak was struck by a passing vehicle, fell and hit his head on the pavement. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital where doctors did not detect anything wrong with him. Upon being released, Tabak abruptly became abusive, prompting two police officers at the hospital to arrest him on the belief he was drunk. He was later discovered unconscious in his jail cell and was rushed back to the hospital. A second examination discovered a blood clot had developed on the right side of his brain. Tabak died on Christmas Day 1984.

Ron was clipped in the back left shoulder by a pickup truck with extended sideview mirrors as he was riding along causing him to crash onto the roadway. Yes, Ron had no lights, but why the driver wasn't charged with inattentive driving I'll never understand. If they were paying attention, they should have seen him. Probably came from a money family which would explain why they never faced any type of charges. Then again, Driver/Cycling laws were really lax back then compared to nowadays.

Personally I think his death was due to the hospital calling the police due to his combativeness,(might have not happened though if he had not been drinking and had the strong smell of alcohol ) but he should have at least been restrained and x-rayed and examined..... but alas, none of us were there, so making these call now are a moot point... he is truly missed for sure... I have several of their vinyl albums..... as well as CD versions

Great sound, great songs, but appearance is so important, more so back in that era, they look like accountants, not rockets, they would have done far better with a stage presence.

+Glenn Thomson You are correct about the timeline here. Your contender is someone who has an argumentative history on various comment areas. My earlier reply was addressed to him. Thanks...
