  • What was life in Nazi Germany like for people who didn't believe in the movement? This film, based on the book, follows Liesel (Sophie Nélisse) and her foster parents (Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson) through her coming of age in a small town in the midst of a war that Germany is destined to lose.

I completely agree filming it Germany was a wise choice :D I spent five weeks there and watching the movie after coming back home overwhelmed me, because it looked so familiar and reminded me of the little town I spent those five weeks. :) Great interview :D

Saw him promoting the film on Craig Ferguson the other night, he's a great guy. Bummer he didn't mention a word he learned in Germany "Schnapsidee", he seems to love it, would have been fun to hear another take on it in this interview. On the other hand this is an appropriately sober conversation while the talk show gig was more upbeat.
