I really don't like the German accent in American movies. But in this movie, the German accent wasn't too strong and kind of melancholic. It really fits into the movie :-)

your English is perfect! :) Yeah I really loved their accents in the movie (I'm not German so I don't know exactly what they should sound like) but I know the boy who played Rudy is actually from Germany and the girl who played Liesel sounded very much like him:)

Look at his collar bones! He had to lose a lot of weight for this role; I read about it the other day on Zusak's blog.. He was incredible in the movie, perfect for the character. You will love it if you haven't seen it yet.
Wow I was not expecting his voice to be so deep. He was whispering the whole time in the movie and he was faking an accent so there was no way I could tell.

Just saw the movie last night, and Max was my favorite. I loved his relationship with Liesel; it was sooooo sweet.
I know, right!? The first time I watched it I never really thought about it, but I watched it again a few months ago, (and read the book) and I thought, "Okay, he's kinda cute!"

I thought I was the only one haha. Just the way they smile at eachother is so adorable.
According to what Markus Zusak said, in HIS universe they didn't end up together mostly because he felt that if Rudy couldn't have her, no one could. I guess it makes sense; Liesel's whole story is full of relationships and their parallels. Rudy was the friend she had and the one person who loved her in a non-platonic manner. In a way, Max was the brother parallel (the nightmares and all) but I don't see how Liesel could have made a life with anyone else but Max after what they had been through and the love they already had established for each other. I definitely don't think it happened right away, maybe when Liesel was about 20-23 and they felt something else on top of their brotherly/sisterly love but in MY universe for the story, those 3 children she had were Max's AND, maybe I'm being over analytical trying to find supporting details for Liesel and Max's relationship, since Markus Zusak wrote "In her final visions, she saw her three children, her grandchildren, her husband, and the long list of lives that merged with hers. Among them, lit like lanterns, were Hans and Rosa Hubermann, her brother, and the boy whose hair remained the color of lemons forever." Take note that those relationships listed were the ones that impacted her life the most. Conveniently, Max is missing, and you would be silly to deny that Max impacted Liesel's life so much so that he was remembered in her final moments, so when I read that passage I automatically linked him to the role of husband.
But whatevs ^.^ I love that Markus left the book so open and it allows fans to create their own stories. YOU get to fill in the blanks so wether you agree with me or not, neither of us is wrong. (***** mostly meant for you :} Id love to hear what you do think happened with Liesel and how her life went after the war)
