Prolly becUse u didnt have the biggest in the business sending u free shit all the time
It's edited, too.
everything you guys are doing to this car is exactly what i wanna do to my 78. keeping this series saved for later when i hit those spots in my project. :)
You guys are the best. Gosh, imagine we had your setvices and expertise in South Africa, awh man
Ja boet true hey
Very interesting to watch these Videos brings back great Memories.
I was a Muscle Car Builder back in my late Teens, back in the late 70s Living in South County Lemay, St Louis Mo.
My Best Muscle Car I owned was the 1969 Orange GTO Judge, that I built and Blue Printed myself with the Help of Richard Kurtzenborn, and his Anything Automotive Machine Shop in St Louis, Mo. Not Bragging anymore, but I was the Fastest Street Car in Lemay County.
It Sported the 455 SuperDuty Engine from the Stock rated 390HP Grand Am.
Bored over 0.30, Forged Steel Crankshaft, Forged Pistons, 4 Bolt Mains Delivering @ 650HP, with Ram Air IV Heads and Doug Thorley Custom Headers, Sig Erson's Cam 450 Lift, 286 Duration Low and Mid Camshaft, 1:65 to 1 Roller Rockers, Using a Stock Jeted Quadrajet Carb. Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission, B&M Shift Kit, with Heavy Duty Parts. Rear end was a 3:55 Chevy 12 Bolt, with Steel Axles, heavy Duty U-Joints and much more that I can think of.

I now am a Computer Technician for the last 20 Years.
I still own the 1980 Turbo Trans Am.
These guys shop is like paradise to me. Boy I wish I had one like that
Lovin' the TA build!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Nice! I plan to rebuild or replace the rear diff in my 76 Vette soon
You dudes should have a million subs!!!
I enjoy watching these shows after doing mods on my car on my day off, while knocking back a few cold ones!✌✌👍👍👍🤛🤛🖖🖖🖖✝✝✝✝☮☮☮☮♥♥♥♥♥♥
Nothing like some old additives, The older you get the more you need em haha
When I was 17 in 2982 I bought a 1977 Z28 with a lot of miles and a three speed automatic and I was so happy with it. I didn't get in any trouble with it either.
Did you get an anti-grav unit installed so it could fly the super skyway?
Buddy of mine back in High school,,,left us over an axel sliding out on a curve over one those 10 bolt rearend c - clip failure.... I have ran many always thought about Rick Holmes over years...
Best thing about efi on a cold morning? You guessed it,...NO FAST IDLE WARM UP TO WORRY ABOUT, with a traditional carburetor...👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
Pretty cool to hear all the similarities. I'm an Australian and am a Holden fan, that's a GM owned company. We've had the 10 bolt diffs in a tonne of cars, and our usual thing was take it out, and put a ford 9 inch in. And I bet you guys wouldve done the exact same swap out lol..Cheers and great T/A
Y’all notice the power nation streaming channel only plays the same few episodes on repeat? Lol
I am doing the same conversation on my 78 Trans am. Great information here, however I see you mounted the driver's side caliper outboard. That placement will hit the driver's side shock. How did you overcome this? In addition, thanks again on the spacer specs, it is all that I lack to finish up this conversion. I will share what I did to overcome the staggered shocks in the rear once I hear from you.
7:00 - Chewbacca
Do you see what can be made with leftover parts?
You can drop it off at my house I live in Ohio LOL I do love it
What a beautiful car 🤤
powernation guys made film about yours boxes which are in the background. what inside drawers?
That's what dreams are made of!!!!
Very impressive.
It’s beautiful
I did rear axle bearings and seals in my 2000 v6 mustang and the abs sensors were stuck in there really bad
Cars looking very nice my the winter enjoy it.
When will you all have the next episode about this T/A?
Gah I LOOOVE that powder blue engine paint!!!! The 78 T/A would be in my collection for sure.
"Thats how you do it from drum to disk" 👍
Anyone know if the parking brake cable needs modification to work?I guess I'm doing that to my 73 Maro now!
how are those brakes disk brakes going to work with the staggared rear shocks?
My 79’ had rear disc and the same shock mounts that came from the factory that way. But I can’t remember whether the calipers were staggered or not.
What’s the best place to order parts for a 98 trans am
I am really surprised you did not toss that 10 bolt for a 12 bolt .
8.5 10 bolt is almost as strong if you run the 30 spline axles.
My buddy runs an 8.5 10 bolt in his BBC Camaro drag car that runs 9’s. They are strong when built right.
@@mayosturgell4474 yeah alot of buicks do as well. seen plenty of 9 and 8 sec turbo regals run them. i think they get bad rap cause of the oem gov locks the trucks used.
I love these shows. When is s1 e5 going to be posted!?
Samething i was going to say...
I dont know if anyone is reading these comments, but I was wondering if its possible to see a SMC solution with Tubos' I keep reading thats its a complete waste of time to turbo as small block chevy because there is no timing ignition or certain ways to make turbos work properly with small block chevys/ But i keep having a dream of a twin turbo'd 327. Ive researched and its very very rare to find any 'decent' information on this. would make an AWESOME show if its possible!!!

Yes sir
When u guys going to do a 4.3 v6 chevy?
Uh- Never.
No 8.875" 12 bolt?
So they're not using the parking brake set up on the rear end?
Sitting here with mouth throbbing from double root canal.
That sucks. I prescribe a few fingers of whiskey. Repeat as needed
Replacing the leaf springs with coilovers?
I wish i can drive that here in philippines...
Kind of like it in red!
I didn't realize the conversion to disc brakes on my '78 TA could be done this easily.. I've been looking at over priced conversion kits and the few stock rear axles out there that have disc brakes like are on my '80 that people are parting out and want $400+ for.. I just need to figure out how to fabricate that aluminum piece!
Hey Joe, where ya been?
that thing is 10 times better then anything over 10 years i work on here. stuff is just rusted to somethingunrecognizable
Boy I’d like to see a set of the turbine wheels on this car. I think they look way better than the snowflake wheels. That’s just me though.
I would love too own a 1978 Pontiac Firebird. Very little of them left in South Africa
Very few left in the States that aren't rusted out. The good ones are quickly becoming out of the budget of a large portion of the car community. Partially because everything from the muscle car era is absurdly expensive and everything else is following suit. Even mid 80s stuff is getting pricy.
@@bmstylee absolutely right sir, I have a 79 Firebird Formula that is still a project car from when I bought it back in 2006 slowly working on it and fixing things here and there, would love to have it fully restored but the cost is crazy even if I tried to buy one already restored just can't afford it. I won't sell mine either I must keep working on it.
Seen a few muscle cars here in south africa that is for sale and its out of the ordinary car fans budget
Ill take it
11:53 At least some of those land yachts are mixed up. I don't think that first or second one is a Fury, maybe Newports. The red "Monoco" is a Sport Fury and they spelled "Monaco" wrong. The black one labeled as "Polara" is a Chrysler Newport. The brown one labeled "Newport" with the PLY472 plate is a 72 Fury.
No E-Brakes?
Show starts at 11:10
The old man sounds like he’s been wobble pops!!!!
Interesting the home of muscle cars using UK brake pads an AU calipers (PBR).
I havent heard the term mouse in years, mouse can make good power and rat can make tons of power but a raunchy mouse can eat an unsuspecting rat on the street
wow....do you want to bring the metode to indonesia
What happened to pinion depth? Or you just throw it in and watch it explode! Numbnuts
How can you enter to win this car?
You need a time machine.
Is that the original 6.6 ?
Why not rebuild the original block ?
I would leave it Red. You know Burt had a Red TA in one movie too
I agree, the red looks good. Nothing against black and gold, but black and gold is kinda generic for a TA.
Racer nut in the yoke inch pounds?
lsd additive in an auburn????
I feel like stating how much torque a drive train piece can handle would be more relevant that HP. Am I wrong? Obviously, I'm not a huge gear-head, so be nice to me.😁
I JUST TURNED 49 SEPTEMBER 1ST AND GOD WOULDN'T IT BE NICE TO HAVE THAT CAR AND BE ABLE TO LOOK AT SOMEBODY AND SAY HEY MAN THOSE YEARS AREN'T OVER YET STAND BACK LET ME SHOW YOU WHAT HORSEPOWER IS ALL ABOUT
MoPaR's "pony car" is NOT the Challenger. It is in fact the first of the pony car class to make it to market, the Barracuda. (3 weeks before the Mustang)
The Barracuda and later named 'Cuda are the low mass sporty performers, where the Challenger is the Grand Tourer, more like the Cougar and the 4-4-2.
Hello
Last 😎🤓
Nice how you don't explain how you converted to non staggered shocks...
I'm just not seeing how that efi is any better than a carb. It's not like it's multi point efi.
Controlled squirts that change depending on demand unlike jets on a carb
@@skeletonracingandgaming3407 I think he means that it's more of a glorified TBI setup than a true multiport fuel injection, injector per runner.
Why would you put an automatic in the car
Targeting the Boss 302 with a larger engine, in this case 340 SixPak vs. 302 4 bbl. ..is typical of the illusions created by Dodge.
What about the emergency brake
Sometimes these guys confuse me. All that work on the axle, but didn't do a C-clip eliminator. /boggle
There's my baby I wish I had it
I'm still waiting on the project Overtaker prt2 . why not use a 1" 4 hole spacer plate under that carb that has notch cut out on top of each divider ? 1 for the primaries and 1 for the secondaries ? it helps with intake pulses and with HP and torque and throttle response
@@bigboreracing356 I bought a 30.00 spacer and modified it = low buget 😁 and works great . open holed spacers dont work for all engines ! some dont respond well to them
@@bigboreracing356 you dont us NOS because chevys slow like a rock 🎵🎶

My Dream Car would be a 69 Dodge charger
Videos like this make people think they can work on their own can. Then they tear apart an axle and have no clue how to make sure everything is right.
With a Haynes Manual, the right tools, a modicum of understanding of how cars work, and patience, there isn't anything they're doing in this video you shouldn't be able to do yourself.
@@hualni yeah. But most people nowadays can't use hand tools without losing an eye and atleast one didget. This stuff isn't rocket science. You just need to be detail oriented, be able to follow instructions, and learn how to keep things clean. Most large auto parts chains have a loan a tool program so no excuse there. Now wiring on the other hand. I run away from that like the plague.
@@bmstylee Wiring is the devil incarnate.
@@hualni it's probably not the hardest thing to do once you understand it. It's just intimidating
Anyone who is into GM vehicles know the 10 bolt isn't worth investigating a dollar on if you're making more than 500 hp.
My 10 bolt is bullet proof in my 79 Firebird.
Not the 8.5 10-bolt.
I love the red, dont paint it black!
Would you take my 1986 country squire, 302, stored 30 years, 11,678 miles, and help me win SSRRC 160 mph bracket, and keep my cost under 55$K??
I wish HP TV, Detroit Muscle and the other shows would stick to the main subject of the show and stop diverting to other subjects in the middle of the show like showing a Challenger in between the Trans Am. Messes up the flow of the shows.
Interested to hear from ppl in the field of automechanics; Is this educational or just one big giant infomercial? For a non mechanic I see lots of product plugs that are meaningless, pretty cars, and guys that appear blue collar but can talk with precision on technical details of the products they promote.Do any of you car mech ppl gain practical knowledge from this?
That side exhaust on the Challenger looks like shit imo....
I agree!
how did Dodge design the Challenger to go up against the Camaro and Mustang. Step 1 ...steal silhouette of 1969 Csmaro.
Anyone else think Joe is hammered?

boring to much talk.
It's more what the car should have been in production. They went backwards from the 60's. But then we wouldn't have had the government regulations to OBEY.
It was a shame how smogged down this car was from the factory. We had a Y88 gold 78 with the w72 Pontiac 6.6 in it for about 17 years. Just removing all that emissions garbage and changing the exhaust turned it into an entirely different car. Wish we would have kept it. You never see any around my city anymore. Was a torque monster even from the factory and even more fun with a few mods
