    Been using cruise control on the highway and been averaging 25-26 mpg in my 22 trd pro. Def a turtle but driving it slow rewards you in the gas mileage department. Interior doesn’t have all the tech other trucks have but imo a truck should be simple and easy. Still has knobs for heat and ac which will never get old. Try turning on your heat with a touch screen when your hands are frozen from being outside all day. You’ll thank simplicity then.

    The seats sit too low on the floor,and the roof is low. You have to mash the gas peddle just to merge onto traffic. Fuel economy isn’t much better than a 1/2 ton truck. Transmission downshifts every time you hit a slight hill. Reliable or not, I can’t imagine torturing myself with a Tacoma.

      Seat jackers, retune done, I went with kd maxx pro, head room could be little better I have the sun roof version just little awkward getting in. As for fuel well most people upgrade both the wheels and tires 2,3, even 4 times the tire size bigger, add bunch more weight inside or around, on top, underneath, that reaches the payload capacity or pretty close to it, all these upgrades are great for looks, comfort, protection and performance, but in no can anyone expect the same or close to around the same in mpg its just basic knowledge. I have to admit I'm getting between 15.5-20 mpg on my slightly moded 2017 trd orsb 4x4 but that is with mostly driving at speeds of 70-85 mph highway miles.

    As far as looks go, the Tacoma blows all the other mid-size trucks out of the water. In TRD PRO trim, it's just badass. All Toyota needs to do is upgrade the powertrain like Nissan did to their Frontier before they started selling their next generation Frontier and upgrade the interior with better technology/materials. Do that and the current generation Tacoma would be tough to beat and would probably still outsell others in the midsize segment. Oh, and the Tacoma's key fob is seriously outdated and looks like an aftermarket viper fob or something. That definitely needs to be upgraded too.

    • @mowgli6345
      @mowgli6345 Před rokem +2

      @@weirdshibainu Yeah. I get that their cars are statistically more reliable, but that only goes so far when it comes to factoring in a vehicle.
      If you assume you will drive the national average of 12k miles a year, most cars from other brands will easily last 10-15 years anyway. Toyota will keep it's value more, but is 20k over the span of 10-15 years really worth living with a low tech car while other manufacturers are advancing?
      At this price point, I would say it's definitely worth considering, whereas before going Toyota was a no brainer.

      I went in the opposite direction. I assumed the new frontier should be much better because it was recently redesigned, and I was so disappointed. I was not too fond of the suspension on pro4x. It was stiff soft, and something in between simultaneously, plus the terrible turn radius and impossible-to-turn steering wheel, I felt car sickness after a few minutes. 10minutes on TRD PRO with the fox suspension sold me on Tacoma, just the perfect suspension which you can't get on Nissan. You get a truck that Toyota perfected over the last 8 years, with excellent after-market support, reliability, and resale value. One thing that I miss is the Heating steering wheel. Besides that, I couldn't find any clear advantage to the Frontier. I don't have any issue with the power train, and if you watch this video, there is no single unexpected down/up shift, it was an issue in the past, but it doesn't exist in 2023, and Tacoma is definitely not slower than Nissan.
