  • In this video Josh will take you through the techniques used to work back flat cuts left by reducing the top of developing material that is getting ready to begin bonsai work. Often times when we remove the top half of the tree we leave some very un natural looking cuts and we need to work them back, heal them over and make it look like they were never there.

What an excellent video. I've never seen the topic of trunk chopping covered in such detail. I know it will help me in years to come. Thank you Josh.

That's an excellent tutorial on using wound sealant. I don't think I've seen a simpler explanation 👍

I have learned so much from watching your videos! I love how Josh doesn't try to do too many things to a tree in one video, but takes the time to make sure the viewers thoroughly understand the skills and concepts. We hear not just how to do things, but why we're doing them and how it sets up for the future. Thank you.

That's if I still have the tree, it was purchased as stock to sell in the nursery and to make that particular video. But once I get it potted up it might strike me as a tree to keep here for another few years and develop it into a specimen tree then sell it after that.

Invest in a Dremel, cutoff discs, random bits, and Kutzall Rotary Burr. Way faster, cleaner, and healthier for the Bonsai. Later Mate!
