- Hi Lovelies! I have recently started pondered the question of how much makeup I really own.. And since I am a bit of a numbers geek, I wanted to do some background checks and ultimately get an idea of just how much I actually own. I collected data from 6 years back so I hope this is as accurate as I can get it. Hope you enjoy! x

It’s quite an eye opener and a good exercise to help keep a collection in check.
You also have to factor in that many of these products will expire before you get the use on them.
This is why I admire your approach to embracing your collection through so many projects.
That video was very interesting. I think if you'd prepare the numbers yearly it would be interesting to see your progress.

I have seen a few videos like that and really like the concept. Thanks for sharing your numbers. This data is really eye opening and I use it as the basis for my low buy since my collection has grown larger and larger. Our "problem areas" are quite similar, I'm doing great in basic areas like foundation, primer, mascara, highlighter, but in the colorful areas where I want more options like eyeshadow, lipstick, blush my stash would last for many years 😅
It truly is! It was such a fun video to do, one of my favourites in a long long time 😊 coloured products are definitely the hardest to finish up, so I think a lot of us are in the same boat there 😅
I also know what you mean about different years. I have finished 13 so far this year, but last year was just a couple and never any before.
You have probably finished them this year, but much of the progress was made in the years before. I know what you mean, the result is then only calculated in the "finish year"...
Yes, you're both right! That's why I also wanted to include all the years I've been tracking my empties to try to get more of an accurate result - but it's impossible to get an exact number as you will always make progress on all the products you're not finishing too
Like eyeshadows for example, I've hit pan on about 50-100 eyeshadows per year for the last couple of years, and that's tons of usage - but it's not gonna make any difference really to a reading like this. Apart from if you then go to finish these eyeshadows the year after etc.
Such a fun video to really understand how we have so much makeup and buying any is definitely not a need, just a want/hobby.
For sure! I always say this is my hobby, because I know I have way more than one person would ever need in a lot of categories 😅

before i even go further, i have to say that this eye makeup is GORGEOUS 😍 what did you use?
now that i finished the video, i find it fascinating. it would be also very interesting to see it on a regular basis, like yearly. but i also keep thinking, sure, it’s a lot of makeup, however it’s a “practical” hobby. people spending money on some collectible trinkets or on technology/gadgets that quickly become unusable - in comparison makeup seams “reasonable” to me. also if you maybe do makeup on your friends or family, as well as on yourself for special occasions, you don’t spend on makeup artists? 🤡 we gotta see it somehow positive! 😃

I would love to see updates to see if your calcuations stay true or if your usage changes much or you declutter more/ get more in your collection.
That's such a good idea! Next year I could do an updated one with "my calculations last year said I would use up x of xxx, which meant that I had x years left of makeup. In the past year I actually used up x and my updated number is now x years of makeup 😊 that would be so fun!
I would love to see this video every year. It really puts into perspective how long it takes to use up makeup. Maybe you can take the average from the past 5 years, because now you pan more makeup than you did in the beginning of your CZcams channel ☺

I definitely think I'll keep doing it yearly, it's such a fun video, and I LOVED making it 😊 I actually think I finished up more in some ways when I started off, as I had a lot of half empty products, vs now I have to focus on a lot of products that are fuller as I've already panned the "easier" ones 😄
i bet at least 200 of those shadows are the beige colour that comes in every palette lol
i have made myself a little custom palette of all the boring shades that you get like one or two of in every palette, but you do use in every make up look.
It has a couple beige shades, a couple browns, a couple inner corner whites and a black. i use those on every make up look.
im going through a lot more of those kind of shades more quickly.
i also have almost 144 years of eyeshadow lol .
this is such a good idea. i dont have a huge collection like yours but ive got a couple decades of makeup on me. the hassle of finding the boring professional looking shades keeps me away from washing it over my lids and finishing it off. this idea is really good

I want to do this for my collection. Of course I have a much smaller collection but still interesting to see in black and white that I dont need to buy anymore! 😅

I’m currently trying to pan a Bobbi brown eyeshadow and it’s taking forever. I don’t know how I’m supposed to use everything before it goes off 😮
I know right! Lots of eyeshadows take FOREVER, especially single eyeshadows 🙈 it’s very intimidating haha
