Druig and Makkari's relationship in the movie was adorable. It wasn't a full romance, but it was clearly more than friendship. I loved them together.
I couldn’t agree more, I’m obsessed with them now😭 hopefully we get to see more of their relationship explored in the future.
When Druig first met her again and asked "Did you miss me ?" while cheekily smiling at her, i almost died. Ugh so cute. They are so cute together.
The reason I thought they were better than Sersi and Ikaris, was because Sersi and Ikaris “only” loved each other romantically. Druig and Makkari was best friends and then they also loved each other romantically.
Love Makkari and Druig chemistry I felt that Sersi and Ikarius relationship rushed I am not sure if it because they had to get it within a certain time frame or not. Where as makkari and Druig had a build up
That Thena and Gilgamesh platonic love had me in SHAMBLES
They were my favorite couple. Thena almost had me crying a few times.

That moment when Lauren finished describing Thena's character and Angelina looked at her and said thank you to her in ASL. That's so lovely. Everyone was so respectful to each other yet so close and comfortable to work together. It really shows in the movie and I love it!

It isn't her husband I think. Her husband was the asl consultor for the movie but is not him on this because i saw him in another interview and it wasn't her husband. Also i think she posted a picture with him once so yeah. But they work really well together and i love to see it! (sorry for the mistakes, english is not my language)

Lauren's interpreter is the MVP!
Druig and Makkari, Thena and Gilgamesh were the best couples, their chemistry was sweet, you can see how much they love and respect each other for little details such as the way they looked at each other. I didn't feel a lot of connection between Sersi, Ikaris and Dane, even tho they are the main love triangle story.
I didn't feel it from Cersi.
The heartbreak yes, but not the love part.
Druig and Makkari had the best chemistry. I was literally blown away by how wholesome they are, I wish there would have been more scenes with them together 🥺

Eternals is less of a superhero movie, but a movie about a family. And that's why I love it. The powers also reflect their characters.
* Ajak is a motherly figure, and despite her little screen time, you can feel her presence throughout the movie in other characters. She affects their feelings and actions. She keeps the truth to herself and bears the pain on her own. That's why her power is to heal.
* Thena, in my opinion, represents a person with mental illness. She wants to continue being who she is, despite her vulnerability. Her ability to create and use different weapons shows her flexibility in overcoming challenges.
* Gilgamesh is like a gentle giant, who dedicates his life to take care of a person with mental illness. His brute strength represents the mental (and sometimes physical strength) needed to accommodate the person he cares for.
* Druig is like an ideal pacifist, who comes to realize the very fault of humanity and becomes cynical. His mind control ability reflects his desire for people to follow his mindset.
* Kingo is like a happy-go-around person, but the most insightful and sensible at times. His power requires charging, showing that aspect.
* Ikaris is the person who is tormented by love and responsibility, I want to hate him but I also understand his action. His power is linear and destruction, representing his strong, destructive devotion to his mission.
* Sprite represents people who have complexes about their appearances and their insecurities. Her ability to cast illusion is a mirror to her desire to hide herself and projects a different self to others. Her young appearance also represents some of the younger generation who feels the need to create different images of themselves to the world.
* Phastos is a person whose happiness is his small family. He, who wanted to create many miracles through technology, comes to realize that the best miracles are the smiles of his loved ones.
* Sersi is a gentle woman, whom is perceived as weak by men. She represents romantic love and love for others, which become her motivation to bring her forward. Her transmutation ability represents her ability to make changes to those around her. She is also the successor of Ajak and chooses to do things differently. While Ajak keeps the secret to herself, Sersi chooses to share it with others. In my opinion, her succeeding Ajak is a transition between a motherly woman who is unable to take action, to a woman who dares to make changes for those she loves.
* I don't have much opinion about Makkrari. While she is a lovely character, I feel that she is underdeveloped. She hardly makes any decision on her own. I hope to see more of her character in the next movie.
I think Makkari is mostly defined by her curiosity. While Sersi is the most involved with humans from an emotional standpoint from the very beginning, she is the most keen to get to know more about their artefacts and art. As in, getting to know how they develop and change without feeling the need to speed up the process or intervene in their decisions, like Phastos or Druig. Within the dynamics of the group, she mostly occupies the space of the middle child: trying to find the common ground between her more opinionated 'siblings'. Also, because of her deafness, she is most likely talked over quite often, and gets crucial information delayed compared to the others, so it makes sense that she is more like a mediator than the one who makes the decisions. In my opinion, her relationship with Druig is very telling of her tolerance and perceptiveness, as most of the others does not seem his idealism as a good thing but she can appreciate him with the knowledge that it also comes from a place of love towards humans. I'm not sure how her powers factor into this, but it might be so that it gives her direct advantage despite her disability (as hearing isn't really useful if you are faster than the speed of sound) and emotionally it reflects on her dynamism and propensity for changing fast if the situation needs her to change.
(I agree that she deserved more screen time, they should have brought her in sooner in the present timeline.)
@@UmbraKrameri Yes, I love her interaction with Druig. It was surprising that the somewhat-stubborn Druig has a soft spot for Makkari. I agree that she is somewhat of a "middle child". What I meant in my earlier response is that, her screen time was not sufficient for me to understand her well enough. Regarding her power, I think it is about going through things at her own pace, albeit alone.

the beautiful thing about gilgamesh and thena's relationship is, they're both equally strong.. the only reason Gilgamesh can stop thena is because she didn't really want to hurt him, and he knows all of her moves, i think... and i like how despite thena is in a weak state mentally, Gilgamesh didn't treat her like a fragile thing or try to control her...
angelina doesnt have to show any skin - YET her SENSUALITY just pervades forever

Definitely agree, I thought Makkari was a stretch at first, like forced diversity, but she turned out to be such a powerful and cool character. I also really liked her relationship with Druig, the ending where they reunited was cuuuuute!!

I love how Angelina Jolie deflected the question when about what’s similar between their characters and them. She’s really classy. Actually all of this cast is. I liked Kits self depreciating humour a lot too. If you had a bunch of tiktok stars or people like jake Paul or someone the answers would be lot different.

seeing this ensemble have that much respect and adoration for each other shows just how good Marvel is at fostering lovable dynamic amongst whom they cast.... we've seen family-esque relationships from their previous ensemble and we know for a fact that this one is a lot similar to them in this regard
If you haven't noticed. It's just a tiny detail, but every member almost always wears color-coordinated outfits. Sersei with green, Druig with black, Sprite with aquamarine, Thena with white, Gilgamesh with brown, Makkari with red, Ajak with blue/gold, Ikaris with Navy Blue, Kingo with purple, Phastos with Dark Blue.
What an amazing cast. I’m already excited for their future in Marvel and sequel as well.

Eternals is a profoundly moving, smart, and beautiful film. To label the film a Marvel movie has not done it justice. Like any great film, it takes more than one viewing to take it all in. The acting is not overdone and the imageries are memorable. It deserves to be praised for what it is not trying to do.

I love roundtables like this because it humanizes the cast so much. There are so many huge names in this video and they all just talk amongst each other like a real family. It’s just really good to see these people being human because I hope that one day we can start treating them like that as well. Fanbases can often become like worship cults, and these videos really help demystify celebrities and maybe inspire us normals to be more in touch with what makes us human.

Man I just saw the movie for a second time, the rewatch ability to this movie is insane. You notice the little things they set up from the beginning, towards the end of the movie and so many other things make sense to you. Im not sure if it was due to different approach of storytelling for Eternals from other Marvel movies, but first watch was not enough for me too - like im still left confused. Then i came for 2nd viewing everything truly makes much more sense,like u mentioned, they will set up some situation or dialogue that will be used again / further explained. Personally for me it was Ikaris. I thought the actor is too stoic for the character but upon 2nd watch and observing all of his actions throughout the story...damn.

I don't read comic books (although I love the films), but it is said that there's a machine that can bring back the Eternals who are killed (with memories or without). Giving the fact that, this is Marvel's Universe and not a Christopher Nolan's film (which I love), we can have Ajak and Gilgamesh back.
And I want them back!!!!!!! They are ETERNALS for Christ sake.
