  • Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Aroma 8-cup digital rice cooker and food steamer.LINK TO Aroma 8 cup Rice Cooker: amzn.to/1L0o6zb It measures 9 inches tall by 8 inches wide. It is lightweight.
    There are programmable digital controls. There is a 15-hour delay timer and white rice and brown rice functions.
    The unit includes a rice measuring cup which is a ¾ cup standard US cup. steam tray, spatula, user manual with recipes and coupons.
    The inside has a teflon coating and the pot is aluminum.
    This cooker makes 2 to 8 cups of any variety of rice. Vegetables and meat can be steamed above while rice cooks below. You can also make chili, jambalaya and soups in the cooker.
    When the rice finishes cooking, the cooker automatically switches to warm mode to keep food warm. Rice should not be left in the cooker on Keep-warm for more than 10 hours.
    I’ll test the cooker by making 2 cups of rice. Fill the water to line 2. It took 35 minutes for the rice to finish cooking.
    The beans I steamed and the 2 cups of rice were cooked perfectly.
    The Aroma 8 cup digital rice cooker and steamer is affordable, easy to use and a great value for money.

    I know this video was a long time ago, but I'm thrilled I found it. I bought this same cooker at a thrift store; it's new, but didn't come with an instruction manual. Fortunately, I found that online too, but this was great to watch. Thank you. sj

    I cook brown rice in mine, with a couple of frozen chicken breasts in the steamer rack at the same time. When the rice is done, the chicken is fully cooked. The newer10-cup version of this cooker has a convenient delay timer.

      Why do people think we give a sh*t what they cook in their steamer? " I cook human organ tissue in my steamer. I just add diced human kidney to my organic, non-gmo, responsibility sourced, no more tears, dolphin safe, kid and mom approved, and 4 out of 5 dentist recommended, brown rice".

      So just for the record to all the people that gave a thumbs up for this post.... I wouldn't recommend putting raw chicken in with rice and cooking it. And on the same note I wouldn't try cooking frozen chicken. Little thing called salmonella lol

      Travis Norton 200° F is more than hot enough to kill salmonella. Does the temp inside the frozen breast get to 200° after 15 minutes in a rice cooker? I don't know.

    If you are cooking rice, specially short grain rice, when you are away, use the delay setting. White short grain rice will start to turn into "rice pudding" after a couple of hours on the keep warm setting.
    For firm short grain white rice that is mostly popular in the Caribbean, the ratio is 1:1. One cup of water, one cup of rice. Rice cookers require less oil than traditional cooking and stir the rice before adding salt to avoid salty spots.

    I love this cooking pot!! It really does cook rice to perfection and I can do so many types of rice, I just add my desired ingredients after rice is cooked and then leave to keep warm for a few more mins. White-Brown or Yellow rice with corn, with vegetables, peas, etc. Definitely one of my best buys of 2015. Will try the steamer today, hence my bumping into this vid ^^

      Mine used to also 🙊🙈💩unless i bought minute rice lol but as much as my family and grand babies love rice and i learned to make fried rice also and as much as we eat and as often .....minute rice could get pretty expensive when a large box would only last a cpl days lol literally!! But i found out why it would get so gooey lol thanks 👍to you tube !! 😃😁lol wished ida known long ago 😒.....lol years ago!!! I didnt know you have to rinse rinse rinse and rinse some more !!! Before cooking i never realized 😲just how much starch rice has in /on it!! Lol once i found out and actually tried it out ....YES MOST DEFINATELY!! YES IT Definaty needs to be rinsed VERY VERY GOOD!! but anyway once i did this ive never had any issues with gooey sticky rice again!! Lol so anyway hun my advice to anyone having an issue with cooking REAL rice ...is to make sure u rinse it really really good !! I do till the water runs off it clean / clear and cook as directions say and you should have perfect rice!! 😋 Yummy!! My favorite kinda rice is JASMIN. ....OMG Sooooo DELICIOUS!! Oriental Fried rice . Using Jasmin is my all time favorite 😋and oh so easy❗OMG all this talking about it has made me really craving it now !! 😋Yes i must make some now!! Lol enjoy everyone! P.s. also minute rice is fine ina hurry but it just aint the same!! And yes you can definately tell the😖 difference!! Lol enjoy !🥂

  • @EdwardDreyfus
    @EdwardDreyfus Před 7 lety +8

    The water levels in the pot are not accurate measurements. The two cup water line in the rice pot is actually 3 cups of liquid using a measuring cup. I suppose that is because the plastic cup that comes with the rice cooker is only 3/4 of a cup. Why is it done that way? I suppose one could use a full cup of rice and 2 full cups of water with the same results, just more rice. But I am curious why this has been done.

    • @user-ww6cn3iu8i
      @user-ww6cn3iu8i Před 3 lety

      This whole "cup" thing with rice cookers is ridiculous! Its not a true measuring cup. Ive just recently found this out. I bought my rice cooker at a thrift store years ago and it had no instructions or "measuring cup" so I had no idea about the discrepancies. I never payed attention to the water lines on the pot. Ive just always done a 1:2 ration of rice and water using a REAL measuring cup and it has turned out pretty good. But yeah Im with you...why on earth have they done it this way? Too confusing. When they talk "cups" everyone is naturally gonna assume an 8oz measuring cup. If you find out the why please post, LOL.

    I like your video. I did watch the entire video. I do own an Aroma rice cooker. My recommendation is that you update the title to 'tutorial' or 'product demonstration as it is not truly a review. A typical review would intro with the product name and model number and the list of features. Then after you test the features, then you provide the pros and cons of the product. And there is always a con or nice to have. And then the statement is that there is a product for everyone so then a reviewer would indicate the recommended buyer that they feel could still benefit from the product even with the cons.
    I said all of that to say... My Aroma Rice Cooker is an awesome product! Buuuuuut I have to make sure to get the water to rice ratio perfect or it will burn and/or turn my rice to mush. Also, today, I tried something different. I used the recommended water to rice ratio based on the bag of rice and used measuring cups to put the water and rice in the cooker annnnnd you guessed it... It came out perfect!
    So, in either case, thanks for sharing your experience and happy reviewing....

    I really enjoyed your video! I’m seriously considering buying this rice cooker. I wanted to ask, what is the life span for this product? I’ve heard that some rice cookers develop issues like a warped cooking pot.

    My Aroma 3 cup cooker has the glass lid...and makes a horrible mess with the steam escaping the lid (during boiling part) despite the little steam hole on the glass lid. I see that this unit you have doesn't have a steam hole. Q: How does the steam escape on this model? thanks. 🤗

    Could I cook my rice and steam vegetables at the same time, and could I put corn in the bottom vessel but steam another vegetable like broccoli on top at the same time?

    • @bestkitchenreviews
      @bestkitchenreviews  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi, yes you can cook rice and steam vegetables at the same time. It is best to wait for the rice countdown at 12 minutes and then add the vegetables to be steamed. I haven't tried putting a vegetable in the bottom vessel and steaming another on top. It should work but the vegetable on the bottom would be sitting in water. Hope that helps 😀
