  • Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Aroma 8 cup Digital Rice Cooker. This is the latest model with a Quinoa function. LINK to this Rice Cooker: amzn.to/2stGXWg If you want to see the other 8 cup model review: • Aroma Rice Cooker and ...
    With any rice cooker, the cup amount means cups of cooked rice, so an 8 cup rice cooker will give you 8 cups of cooked rice, not 8 cups of raw rice.
    The steam vent is right in the middle. Push this button to release the lid. Hold the handle and lift up. Here is the inner pot with a non-stick coating, there is a max line marked so don’t fill above that. A plastic steam tray is included as well as a measuring cup and spatula.
    When you first get the unit, wash the inner pot and all accessories with warm, soapy water and dry. The outside can be wiped with a damp cloth.
    This is the condensation collector. It pulls off and you can empty it after cooking. On the panel, there is a white rice function, brown rice which is for longer cooking whole grains, quinoa, quick rice which cooks about 7 minutes faster than the white rice function, oatmeal, saute then simmer, slow cook which can be set from 2 to 10 hours and steam which runs from 5 to 30 minutes after water has boiled. With the delay timer, you can set the time to have white rice ready in 1 to 15 hours or brown rice in 2 to 15 hours. When anything you’re cooking is finished, the unit will automatically go to keep warm mode. The keep-warm function for rice is up to 12 hours.
    The measuring cup holds ounces of rice or grams. This is a standard US ¾ cup measure in case you lose it.
    You can cook rice and steam at the same time so I’ll cook rice and green beans. This is 2 cups of long grain rice measured with the included cup. Rinse the rice and drain it. Put the rice in the inner pot. Fill water to the line that matches 2 cups of rice. Close the lid. Plug in the unit. Press the on button. Press white rice. The light will illuminate and you’ll see a chasing pattern. This is 8 ozs 235g cut up fresh green beans, put that on the steam tray. There is a chart with steaming times for meat and vegetables in the manual. There’s also a chart for rice cooking times. The 2 cups of rice takes about 35 minutes to cook and the beans take 15 minutes to steam. So, I set my timer to 20 minutes and put the beans in. Open the lid and put the tray in, close the lid. The display will countdown for the final 10 minutes. When the cycle is finished, the unit beeps and switched to keep warm mode. Open the lid and stir the rice to distribute any moisture.
    I hope you found this review helpful. Please subscribe and I’ll see you next time. Thanks for watching :)

    Thank you for the review and demonstration on the use of this rice cooker. I just started looking into these because I got tired of my rice water boiling over (I get distracted often) and under cooked rice. For ease of use, quality construction, minimum bells & whistles, and a good price, this one seems to be the best for my needs. Thanks again.

    I’m so happy I watched this video 😆 bc after measuring 2 cups of rice and putting it in the pot along with the vegetables (green beans), I pushed the steam button assuming it would cook both at the same time ha ha. So I am supposed to cook the rice first, and then put the veggies in ha ha...”Got it!”.

    Wow! I really like this little perfect size for one or two people rice cooker/steamer! Thanks for showing that rice must be rinsed at least twice or until the water is clear. Most of the bad reviews about rice cookers sputtering and bubbling over causing a big mess was because the water still had too much starch in it. I just watched a video where a reviewer didn't rinse the rice but she gave an Oster rice cooker/steamer an EPIC FAIL when in fact it was she who deserved the EPIC FAIL! :) But she's not alone. You can see a half dozen or more negative reviews of huge rice cooker messes due to user error! Thanks for your correct instructions!

    Thanks for this great demonstration! I just bought an Aroma rice cooker (not this one, but I’m thinking about getting the one you just demonstrated). Can you put frozen vegetables in the steamer or directly with the rice?

    This was a really great review. I’m surprised it took so long for the rice to cook. I’m wondering if you could season or add butter to your vegetables since it sits over the rice. You did a great job of covering this device. Thank you.

    How do you use the delay timer ... I tried but I don’t get it

    • @HabuBeemer
      @HabuBeemer Před 4 lety

      The delay timer gets set to the time you want the rice to be ready, not the time you want it to start cooking. Ex: If you set the delay time to 3, the rice will be finished in 3 hours. If it is two o'clock now and you set it on 3, rice is ready to eat at 5:00.

    I always pull the pot out right away when done or it will start burning on the sides.
