    ones of the best things about nikon is that they also do firmware updates that improve their camera features.

    I own the Nikon Z6III it is fantastic. I am hearing that it is not a Partially Stacked BSI Sensor but a Partially CMOS Sensor. Have You heard about this also? Tony Northrup did a video about having less Dynamic Range. I have noticed in HLG 10 Bit 4-2-2 ISO, is set to ISO 400 like the Zf. Haven't tried the Higher Modes yet. Cheers!

    I've had my Z6III for a month and love it! The only thing I don't like, that I hope a firmware update changes, is I can't record video to both card slots at the same time, that's irritating. But that's the only thing for me so far, otherwise I love it.

    Haha thumbnail reminds me of the famous Breaking Bad line "Say my name!"
    Z6III is on my 2024-25 list, once sales & promos kick in. I have the Z8 & Zf so not in a rush. I love the semi-stacked 9ms sensor and mechanical shutter approach, best of both worlds. Some have said the mechanical shutter is really only there for flash, and perhaps fast FAST action. Another innovative release from Nikon 😎 Great discussion, thanks guys!

    Love my Z9, a high resolution + high frame rate camera + high end video camera..now Nikon made a baby Z9 in the new Z6III, it's great for both photos and videos, not handicapped or crippled like other brands unless maybe you go up the chain of the flagship models, I can just literally bring this to my next Mediterranean/Europe trip as both for photo and video. Oh that flip out screen, imagine 4K 60 full frame vlogging anyone? lol...overall great discussion guys!

    Blackmagic jumped into open gate with a slow sensor that performs badly in low light. And though I like the occasional flexibility of getting verticals from 3:2, the more serious reality is you have to get good looking shots in less time, with less help, meaning fewer lights and modifiers. So to me low light performance tops my list and it looks as though the Z6III brings that and a complete slate of internal codecs, and solid autofocus, in an affordable and compact size. The last of my Blackmagic equipment went to MPB today and I will be shooting Z6III and Z9 for run and gun from now on (yes I already own Z lenses) and I will look to see what happens with mid-tier cine cameras to firm up my “full pro” package. At the moment I have a preorder in on a C400, but let’s see what happens with the FX9 as that replacement is due to be announced soon. The Nikons aren’t perfect video cameras. They lack shutter angle and other niceties but I know how to work around that stuff as long as I have a top performing sensor to back it up.

    I'm glad Nikon's doing what they're doing, it's gonna force Sony/Canon/BM to step it up even more.
    If I had to nitpick though, I don't like the dynamic range performance. When shooting in 10bit internally, the dynamic range is the same as a Sony FX30. When shooting Nikon Raw (and after denoising), it has as the same dynamic range as the FX3's internal 10bit.
    Personally I'd take a 4k image with more dynamic range straight out of camera than a huge 6k file that I have to denoise and spend more time rendering, just to be able to reach the dynamic range of a 4 year old camera.
    Given Sony's already established camera line up and lens ecosystem, all they have to do is update their cameras to shoot 6k. Internal raw would be a nice addition but not necessary in my opinion.

      @@SystemParanoia it’s good to know you are using the D3300 well, keep it up I’m sure the kids will love the memories you’ve captured. I used that camera 10 years ago it’s taught me a lot. I used it with the 20mm f2.8 AI-S, 24mm f2.8 AI-S, 50mm f1.8 Pancake AI-S, 105mm f2.8 Ai-S, 80mm-200mm f4.5 AI (Rectangle Rear), 200mm f4 AI-S, and 300mm f4.5 ED IF AI-S Manual lens… eventually I sold it in 2016 and bought a Canon 6d but I still used all the Nikon lenses on that Canon. Switched to Sony and Blackmagic in 2017, then switched to RED in 2019. I still use the 300mm F4.5 ED IF Nikkor today. Hardly anyone knows about it, only 7 glass elements, has 1 of them with extra low dispersion.. and it has leaded glass back when lead wasn’t outlawed meaning it is capable of 3D pop unlike some of the plastic/synthetic glass everyone’s using today

    It's a glorified video camera and a very good one. Don't get me wrong but there are so many good video cameras out there currently and I don't think I would be buying a 2 1/2 thousand dollar US or 4 1/2 thousand dollars in Australia for this camera No thanks for that kind of money. I can go medium format in Photography or I could go a really high and Fuji camera for video. Why would I buy this mismatch mishmas, camera that just doesn't sit anywhere I would buy a Nikon Z72 over this camera and they are similar prices. I think hybrid cameras are a bit of a mistake to be honest because if you talk to a lot of people and I don't know if this system majority or not but most people have a dedicated video camera it's usually a 20 megapixel crop sensor camera that they love video I mean man you can do some amazing video now on an iPhone and then they have a dedicated high megapixel Photography bass camera or a smaller camera like an X100v something and maybe I'm biased towards Fuji but Fuji have choices. Not just locks you into one camera and doesn't give you much, and that's why I left the system

      Almost every camera has more than enough DR for 99% of users

    • @Eyeofkamau
      @Eyeofkamau Před 2 měsíci +1

      It’s not sub par at all. It just looked like it on the tests because of the amount of noise in NRaw which lowered the snr rating. Once you actually work with the footage, it’s pushing 13/14 stops like every other camera in its range. That’s one thing people need to understand about DR - it is largely effected by post production

    • @robvision3888
      @robvision3888 Před 2 měsíci

      @@Eyeofkamau cameras in its range? How do cheaper cameras with cropped super 35 sensors like the FX30 without RAW have more DR than the the full frame Z6iii?… whatever you can do post production to lift with the Z6iii you can do even better with an FX30
      Z6iii
      11.4 Low
      9.89 Med
      7.48 Med-High
      FX30 DR
      12.7 Low
      11.3 Med
      9.58 Med-High
      Seems Z6iii is a good camera but DR is set back to the mid-late 2010’s era of cameras. Why the hell did they do that??? Probably Sony just trolling Nikon (Sony manufactures Nikons sensors). Well, just make sure you have some quality neutral density filters on hand and utilize good lighting techniques and you should be fine with the Z6iii

    • @Eyeofkamau
      @Eyeofkamau Před 2 měsíci

      @@robvision3888 that’s not how it works lol. You’re comparing the ratings of a RAW image vs highly compressed fx30 image.
      A RAW image has little to no noise reduction done in camera, so there is more noise in the image… being the reason that noise based Xyla21 test gives it a low rating when the RAW image is unedited.
      The FX30 on the other hand, as well as every other sony camera, has tons of noise reduction applied to the image, natively. You can’t even turn it off to have anything remotely close to the organic noise-full image that the nikon provides. So of course the DR is better straight out of camera - and no you cannot lift the DR even higher in post with the FX30 because it’s majority of it has already been done in camera. Apply the level of NR that the FX30 has, to the z6iii, and you have a fair comparison… one that the z6iii wins at

      @@robvision3888 that’s not how it works bro lol. You’re comparing a RAW (with little to no noise reduction) vs Highly compressed (with a lot of Noise reduction), in xyla21 readings which are highly influenced by noise. The FX30 has tons of NR applied to the image natively, it can’t even be turned off. So no the DR cannot be lifted as much as the Nikon’s can in post because majority of it had already been done in camera.
      Apply the same amount of NR of the fx30 to the z6iii and you have a fair comparison, one where the z6iii clearly wins.

    This dude is hating on Sony because they’re the only one who’s innovating and has been since they pushed the mirrorless technology, Sony also took over canon in the low and market and is Z-cam those are low end cameras that’s why the put way too much useless tech in their cameras and hope people buys them. Sony is leading for a reason and they are doing something right. Nikon made the right move by buying red but they are behind and need to make a name for themself in the video market so yes they will toss a lot of great features in their camera and price it nicely to attract attention. Not a fast elite action-sport wildlife photography /professional work. It's all %110 marketing. I have since Diss photography equipment podcasters. They all spout from the same script. That's after I had the Z8 for 2 soccer matches and a Mobile phone conference/launch. I litterally felt digital steps back. Great size and weight though. I appreciate that though.
