The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl is a movie and film by Robert Rodriguez the man behind such classics as Spy Kids, Spy Kids 2, and Spy Kids 3D. It follows Max and his dream journal and hilarious terrible hijinx ensue. Today on Spilling The Milk, Jack and Eden dive into this nostalgic romp of a film, see of the awful CGI and green screen effects which it is filled with. George Lopez' Mr electric takes center stage as a giant robot mess. Taylor Lautner is awesome!

I agree, the sequel is worse than Sharkboy and Lavagirl (the sequel is called We Can be Heroes)
6:46 ha! Well, that kinda didn't age well now seeing how one of his friends actually just died recently due to Cancer!
R.I.P. Technoblade! 1999-2022 🐷👑🪦🎗️

Spy Kids when
Can you guys react to Bee and Puppy Cat?
This movie was made by Robert Rodriguez as a present for his kids.
Much of this movie was written by actual children. Explains so much.
At least it’s authentic
Ironic, since this was written by kids, and yet there are movie that are awful and written by ADULTS.
It managed to keep me entertained so they did a pretty good job in my opinion
Wait, REALLY?!
It has a good hook and is watchable
Kind of weird that a boy raised by sharks grows up to be a werewolf.
I legit want a web animation that does a crossover of Twilight boy an Shark Boy
where its half this movies acid trip wonderfulness an the other is trying to be edgy
Doppelganger
He's just a wet werewolf
@@senritsujumpsuit6021 what’s it called?

This movie is the definition of “it’s so bad it’s good”. Also I forgot how over the top Linus’ acting is, it’s amazing
“MR ELECTRIC HAVE HIM EXPELLEDDDDD!!”
MISTER EEEELECTRIC, SEND HIM TO THE PRRRINCIPLES OFFICE AND HAVE HIM EXPEEELLLEEED
Despite its low budget, it’s got a lot of heart
Linus is still the best character in this. The sheer freaking confidence to wear a walking L on your shirt in school AND be a snitch AND be a bully?
He's got Lex Luthor-level charisma. He's gonna grow up to be a billionaire supervillain.
Even as a kid I wondered why he said she had purple flames for hair, but they gave the actress hot pink hair.

I didn’t even know they came out with a second movie for this masterpiece.
spoiler alert, it bad
@@joaomanoel7983 No way 😱😱😱😱😱
@@joaomanoel7983 They don’t even got shark boy and lava girl 😭
It breaks the dream canon suddenly everything is real and they are goverment sponsored superheroes
Uh masterpiece? I'm sorry what
I loved this movie as a kid, in fact I had a crush on Shark boy when I first watched it lmao.
It obviously doesn't hold up nowadays, but even though it's pretty bad, it still is funny, even if it is a "so bad it's good" sort of funny.
Also, the "Shark Boy Dream" song just fucking kills me everytime I see it, I don't even know what to feel about it.
I didn't even know there was a sequel, but I'd love to see you all react to it.
Dream drwam dream dream dream
A fellow "homie", I see
okay but when the twilight movies came out did you hate jacob? Asking cuz that'd be funny.
Same I also had a crush on sharing as a kid
Nah the thumbnail of this video hits different
Idk how you guys didn’t notice the whole river of spilt milk they showed, when they rode that cookie on a the milk river? Somewhere there’s a big bottle of spilt milk endlessly supplying that river.
🤨🤨🤨 hmmmmmmm
It’s a dream, it didn’t have to make that much sense.
There might be no bottle
@@jareththegoblinking3191 and that might not be milk 😏😏
It's a cum river
@omarvasquez4922 They were too busy calling it...other things
The kid who played Linus/Minus is goated. He’s wonderfully camp and confident and I love him.
I don't feel like this really fits the definition of "so bad it's good". It's more like, it's enough fun to watch that it doesn't matter that it sucks. It's pure "we're gonna do this because we think it rules" energy, and no matter how awful it is, I'm down with that.
This is absolutely one of the childhood movies of all time
I’ll be honest, when Lavagirl did that 360 neck twist I never connected it to her lava powers and the fact that she’s I guess semi-liquid apparently. I’m 23 now and I truly thought that the reason she could do that with her neck was because she and Sharkboy were imaginary. Now that I think about it that’s an insanely creepy thought. Picture any of the friends from Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends doing that sh*t lol
I vaguely remember watching this movie when I was a kid and I got sick and was running a fever.
I couldn't really keep up with what exactly was happening, so I don't really remember much, but I thought the plot was about finding out the kid was the god of the dream realm, and Sharkboy and Lavagirl were trying to get him to remember he was a dream god.
Even if that was the plot it wouldn’t be as far off from the original Lol
... is that not the plot???
17:24 is feeling pretty accurate. Also, I'd recommend the Spy Kids trilogy over the sequel. It just has more of that old movie weirdness.
10:58 I know you aint laughing at my boy Minus's *drip.* Look at that supervillain cape, *Megamind approved.*
Cringe, you so wrong for that 😂
No capes darling!
This movie feels like a weird dream and that's exactly what they were going for. So it's not bad in my opinion
so fun fact, the guys kids actually helped write the movie, it was basically made by kids for kids
Like kidz bop
Yes! I was actually there for this one live! This was my childhood movie! I loved this movie as a kid! Watch it over 100x!
Also Fun Fact: this was Taylor Lautner's first role!
Also there's a sequel?
Yeah, and the sequel is even dumber lmao
@@doubleace11554 I feel like this and Spy Kids (and 3D) is those kids movie we all know as a kid but the CGI and plot doesn't age well! We might've like them back then but as adults we're like "wow! This is dumb"!
@@ShadyRK9 Yeah, exactly. Like, there's kids movies that we had that we can still enjoy as adults, but with a deeper meaning.
But this are movies that you only like as a kid that doesn't know about cgi and doesn't care for the plot lol
@@doubleace11554 this is also giving me a Neverending Story vibes NGL but aged much worst with the CGI!
Don't watch the sequel.
I remember drawing shark boy a lot as a kid because I always lost the last drawing. I drew him like 6 times.
Fun fact miramax was sued by a wrestler named sharkboy who trademark the name before the movie came out it was settled out of an undisclosed amount in 2007
I saw this when it was new. Aging has nothing to do with it. It was always incredibly weird.
*touches the soil * something strange happened here...
I loved this movie as a kid. I watched it so much that I had my parents sing me the dream song every single night. Oh man, those were the good times 😔
This movie is like a crackfic in the best way possible.
16:08 "This is the dumbest movie, everybody just runs outside of their house during a tornado."
Nah, that's the most realistic part of the movie if you're from the Midwestern United States
Fax
The scratch and sniff thing they gave out while seeing this in theaters was an experience
The what
They gave out a lottery ticket thing with numbers on it when you bought a ticket and paired with your 3D glasses a number would appear on screen corresponding to the scratch number meant to be sniffed with that scene lmao, it was like an early 4D experience.
I remember renting this movie as a kid and watching it in 3D on our living room tv with my mom. That era was especially bad for kids movies because they were leaning really hard into the 3D gimmick so they all aged terribly.
If you had the DVD as a kid, you would know there's this sort of documentary or whatever in bonus features which goes into depth about the man and his kids, I dont remember it fully but I think it explains he lets his kids write this and why.
THE DAD FROM THIS MOVIE IS DEWEY FROM SCREAM!? WTFFF HAHA
"This is off one Welch's fruit snack bro" Funny how that's been said while I just finished that fruit gummy snack goodness only for me to screech afterwards
I admire the restrain of the writers for not making the mean teacher a cartoon villain. Since he's meant to be the real world counterpart to the villain, it would be really easy to make him a monster who does everything wrong.
"Mr. Electric, send him to the Principal's office and have him expelled!"
-Linus, the Bully
"For every person who dreams up the electric light bulb, theres one person who dreams up the atom bomb." -Mr. Electric
I've seen on TVTropes some similarities between this film and Deltarune
I don't know what to do with this information, but now you have it
Thanks, I hate it
What the heck happens in that game
@@andromeda_va39 a kid and the school bully get isekai'd together and become friends
It may be weird but it’s our childhood and will forever be a masterpiece. As the song says “dream dream dream dream dream” and we do that every day
Her hair is technically PINK damn it, not really purple.
Holy crap, the script for this movie is just PAINFUL. Every few lines, a character makes me go "what?"
Bro when you mentioned Welch's fruit snacks I was eating some 💀
Hilarious stuff my milk brothers 😭😭😭
They're the Milky Spillers👯👯🍼🍼😂😂
Wth
Hey bro
I think there is something in your video at 6:47
But that fanart is not yours, it is gabe's
Her Twitter has stated
As for what you should do,I think you should know
She's not even fire, she's lava.
Lmao they do the same thing they both burn
Well, her hair is supposed to be fire. I know it looks like hair but this is a live action movie keep in mind
If this were a comic book her head would be on fire and her skin would look like stone
Imma be honest this movie "blink 3 times to wake up" has actually worked for me and I'm curious if that worked for anyone else
Dude the mr electro guy has the best fucking villain design ever 🤣
Great video ,you guys deserve more recognition
God, I remember liking this movie as a kid, even saw it in theaters. It does not remotely hold up but it feels like it's the perfect "kids movie". Purely for kids, nothing for the parents. Knows exactly what it wants to be and does it well.
The sequel really sucked in my opinion, but to be fair, I don’t have the immense nostalgia favoritism for it like I do for the original.
This one has all the soul the whole thing was like a movie of those playtime stories you made up with your action figures or in the backyard
while the other has some of that crazy but much lesser amount sadly
thou we still have plenty of these wacked movies still real happy
He said "this poor little white boy" indeed.
Bro I was literally watching this while on an edible amd the he straight calling me out at 7:10
I loved this movie as a kid
The movie does everything it wanted to give kids a bedroom playtime storyline brought to screen its so unnatural its perfection
AND NEVER SAY the films have no talent look up the director and your gonna be inspired holy shit he is very chad am not mad just disappointed in this milk lol
11:40 Because he used his powers to cast *INVOKE DRAMATIC WIND!* Like when Vader used the force to make his cape billow when riding that tie fighter in the void of space.
One thing I'm baffled by this m9vie is why acting legends David Arquette and George Lopez are in this movie. George Lopez plays like 5 characters in this movie...David Arquette plays his Dad and Cookie Giant from Planet Drool. The best scene in the movie (Which you guys skipped how dare you) is when Mr Electricidad starts shouting *YOU'RE IN MY CLASS...NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND! I KNOW EVERYTHING...AND YOU...KNOW NOTHING!* Best scene in the movie.
Thar line was surprisingly raw
David Arquette knows exactly what movie he's in the whole time and he gives 100% the whole time.
The CGI gets really good especially with the sequel
cap
14:30 Wait, why aren't the sharks being electrocuted? Everybody knows that electricity travels through water.
I watched this movie so many times and thought it was amazing as a kid and even years later I didn't know there was a sequel til now
imagine watching this while tripping
After ten days I know realize Kor wasn’t in this video
This movie proves Taylor Lautner's acting career was doomed.
ya but i'd say this was the good or better version of his acting and ig twilight, but ya L for Taylor :P
You guys should watch Arthur and the Minimoys, you’d have a real trip…the uncut version has some..interesting scenes
There’s an uncut version??
i dont know what you mean its totally the best movie ever
I will defend this movie with my LIFE
It’s one of those movies that is so bad it’s good. It just makes me smile no matter how much time has passed.
I still remember watching this at school
Oh let’s go I recommended this after seeing it in the classroom after state exams
1:39 I think Max is colorblind
I remember this movie with mostly nostalgia, like Spy Kids.
But also a little bit of cringe, _like Spy Kids._
*SOMEBODY RING THE DINKSTER?*
(is that youtube channel still going? brb)
(edit: Yep.)
divorce speedrun anypercent% world record
the og shark boy and lavagirl just gave me rahld daal vibes
the adventures of boygirl and lavashark
Haven’t seen this movie in a minute 💀😂😂
I’m normally happy that my name is max, but the last 20 minutes is an exception
This is like the 30th video I've watched of you guys, I think I'm legally obligated to subscribe lol.
them flaming the children is definetly a spilling the milk moment
I remember this being my favorite movies as a kid
Do Spy Kids LMAO
Guys i swear this movie looked awesome as a kid
Linus is the best movie villain of all time
When I saw this movie as a kid I thought I was on shrooms.
4:18 so satisfying
omg I was OBSESSED with this movie
I grew up with this movie and only just found out there's a sequel. How did I go almost my whole life not knowing thi?
Good job !!
Those bubbles are my go to spooky kid singing song.
im fire, she ice, were enemy. I burn things, you freeze things. We are not the same.
Imagine a Sharkboy and Lavagirl Grindhouse
Yep
The most iconic part is Sharkboy’s ‘lullaby’, if you watched this a child you remember that part.
When I was a kid I wanted to be able to do the dance flips like Shark-boy lmao
You suggested spy kids, you doomed your entire careers, you'll be forced to watch every single one of these masterpieces, forever to come
After reading the comments it seems that I'm in the minority that saw this as a child and thought "What the fuck is this shit, this is terrible"
I remember liking this movie as a kid
I loved, and still love, this movie. I think it has great messages and ideas, for all people! I would position Shark Boy & Lava Girl in 3-D, relative to the movie version of The Neverending Story.
If they watch Spy Kids I can only imagine their reaction to the fucking thumb people cgi.
So in the sequel (which is absolute shit don’t watch it) sharkboy and lavagirl had a child
But lavagirl literally sets on fire anything she touches…yeah I’m not gonna ask
10:25 Diluc talking about Kaeya in a nutshell 🤣💀💀
I had this movie with the 3D glasses and I thought it was the coolest thing ever
Both the spy kids and the sequel is pretty unhinged so I'm good with either
10:40 I wake up to the sound, of the silence that allows...
This is like the funniest thing ever XDDD
Just noticed that the dad looks like lost pause lmao
