Hello from Georgetown, Washington DC. Dad from Montego Jamaicanl, Mom from Ghana, was born in Maryland, 7 year of age, I was brought to Ghana, went elementary school and senior high in Ghana. I'm proud ADISCO boy. But watching this video makes me feel veey sad because of my late friend. My best friend also went to school GSTS so we used to visit each other. A friend I'm talking about came to the states and later on, he joined the U.S army and he served for almost 10 years and retired. He recently passed away. He was a very smart guy. Samuel York, Rest In Peace 😢

Most of our Secondary schools are like Universities due to former students coming back to provide some amenities that the government alone cannot do. We built a new dining hall for my school to replace a dilapidated one that was an eyesore.
Ghanaians take pride in the secondary school they attended. You can go to a village secondary school and their old students will tell you that school is the best in Ghana. It is like a competition.

This school was original build as a polytechnical and next to it was a military barracks. My parents had a house just across the main road. As a kid, I will go to the school an visit and play with friends at the school. When you entered the school, to the left of the entrance was the headmaster's residence and his kids were my friends and as I grew up, I used the sporting field to train as a track and field athlete. This was in the late '50s during Ghana's independence. I am now in the United States. This brings memories. Thanks a lot. By God's grace, when I am in Ghana,I will visit the school and contribute to the renovation of the school.

Good stuff and well researched Lily. I was born and raised in Takoradi. I respected GSTS boys growing up. They are well mannered and respectful. They would cross the main street in front of their main entrance and take a short cut through the type C quarters, the Railway quarters, and then behind club Ampeso, by customs quarters on weekends to go hang out in town, the boys would walk in front of NCR store house where my parants live and where I was born, there was a garden with a walkway between the it and there they walk, and all suddenly the boys are on Liberation road leading to the market circle. The old boys would know as this was in the late 50s, 60s, and 70s. I left Taadi to school in Koforidua, where I did 1 semester and transferred to Accra. Work at Port Authority after graduation in 1977 and left for abroad 1979. I had visited the GSTS grounds so many times as kids to attend inter colleges. The school has produced many great students doing great things for Ghana and around the world.
