- Russian trying root beer, and as well making a cold root beer soup?..
That's not something you expected to see today, right? :)
I hope you enjoyed the video, because I'm really happy to share this experience with you.
I would say we don't have anything close to this here.
Like, you might have heard of Russian herbal beverages like Baikal or Tarkhun, but these are way different.

Cool idea. Crack one open on the live stream tomorrow. Well, it's tomorrow for us in the US, for you - probably already today 😅
Yeah! For you. Americans love that drink. I'm glad you didn't really spit it out.
Yeah 😀 just a clickbait
Root beer Soup
thats a new one
Exactly 👍
Barq’s is so good. I get cravings for root beer like I do kvass now.
My daughter's fiancé is Swedish and when ever her comes for a visit to America he can not get enough Root Beer Floats!
His wifes English is 10/10! His daughters are like little cherubs. Adorable.
Yeah that’s the sarsaparilla lol it’s used in cough medicines so that’s where the similar taste comes from.
I see 👍 bruh, such a difficult word .. sarsaparilla 😅
@@Zangieff also idk if im wrong but ive never seen medicine with that flavor in current day US maybe its a flavor they mostly use out of the US for medicine?
That's the same reaction I had after trying root beer for the 1st time. . 😅😂🤣 You're daughter is really cute and I think she likes the root beer lol. 🤣😂😅
Now I wonder how a “Kvass float” would taste. With kvass and vanilla ice cream.
Well, that’s interesting.. though, I guess, it would be really strange 😅 you gotta try the kvass first. Have you?)
@@Zangieff I tried Monastyrsky kvass from a local store that imports food. It was good, not as strong a taste as I expected.
Kvass tastes like our Dutch Frisian Ryebread . It’s ok but Tarkhun is better.
Soda actually started as a form of medicine, believe it or not. Soda has carbonated water in it which back then was thought at the time to be a cure for arthritis and the flavoring and sugar was meant to make it easier to drink. Eventually this was dropped because that turned out to not be true but the drinks popularity stuck because since it wasn't alcoholic (soft means no alcohol and hard means alchohol is present) it could be marketed to everyone. Hence its prevalence in the West.
No it didn't. Specific brands of soda started as patent medicines, not soda in general
@@JS-wp4gs I already said it was a proposed medicine for arthritis. That is a patent medicine... and yes that is how soda started. Look it up.
Funny that you mentioned the barqs can looking like a beer can. Years ago when I was like 12 I got id'd at a corner store and the guy refused to sell me a can of barqs root beer because he thought it was actual beer because of the way the can looked
That guy sounds like a retard...
Now this is what I live for
But your dead

Very nice video👍👍
Thank you 😊
A root beer float (honest-to-goodness A&W brand naturally) is one of the greatest inventions of mankind. Your reaction reminds me of the first (and last) time I tried caviar. Caviar, comrade, is the nastiest taste one can imagine…
Wether you buy Coke or root beer, the price is similar, either individually from cold storage at checknout or 6 or 8 packs.
Oh, yes, root beer float from a frozen mug!
You eat it with sa spoon like ice cream, then finish it by drinking what remains.
I love your conten!!! So happy your wife is making her own!! Much love from the USA!
Great video! Love to see you smile
😊😊😊
Thank you)
Damn… credit to you for getting not one but both popular Root beer brands. A&W is far better. The key is to make a rootbeer float with vanilla ice cream though! 50 cents or so a can
Your daughter is the cutest thing lowkey
You were so cute after tasting both cans a couple times. Fizzy face.
There are 2 ways to do a root beer float. If you are a person who likes the foam, pour the root beer over the ice cream, if you don't like the foam, put the ice cream into a glass of root beer. The foam is produced when you pour the root beer over the cold ice cream.
I remember the first time ever having root beer, gave the rest to my brother lol. Eventually grew to appreciate the flavor after trying an ice cream float. I honestly want to try some of that Ice cream in a bag, I'm curious to know how that doesn't get freezer burnt!
root beer is done with wintergreen and vanilla for the most part. Also with spice.
I love Barq’s lol
Also Zangieff the ratio for your voice volume and the music volume sounds really good 👍
Good video. I never eat Okroschka with Kvas. Only with mineral water and Smetana. I think i have to taste it
We drink A&W. Loved root beer floats as a kid...i.e. ice cream into the root beer. Coca Cola floats are popular too.
0:02 Yup pretty much my reaction to it too.😂🤣
Edit. Hope you had a towel on the ground. 😅✌
I had 😂😂
roughly coke here costs between $1.50-2.00. Zangieff, from my personal taste i prefer Barq's because it has more of the sasafras plant flavor, and A&W has more of a vanilla/sasafras combo.
Hey man, I guess, I think I would go with ... haha I don’t know. Right now I’m into Barq’s but sometimes I like it more intense, so A&W can be good also
Wow, you must live in California or New York. I can get a 12 pack for $3.25 and a 2 liter bottle for 1 dollar.
@@briankirchhoefer yeah i live in california as well if i go down to the gas station or liquor store 1 bottle of soda is like 1.80 (they dont really sell individual cans and the bottle contains a bit more soda i think) but it is a lot cheaper to buy in bulk even in cali
@@Ocewot Zangieff said a 12 pack cost him 20 dollars in Russia. That averaged out over a buck and a half a can.
@@briankirchhoefer yeah i know i watched the video all i was just talking about myself by as well i meant the guy you were referring to above. zangieff also said a can of coke only costs 50 cents so root beer is probably just expensive because it has to be imported.
Try big red next! And as a big red float! That's my favorite!🥰
It's best to drink ice cold or with ice on the glass... good day...
Your English is fantastic!
Yeah the "beer" part is misleading to some people too. It's just another candy soda. In the category of grape and orange soda.
Well, it’s really herbal / medical (someone mentioned ehh .. sarsaparilla). I wouldn’t put it next to Fanta though. In terms of taste. Really different
Kudos to you for trying out an American classic! I work outside in the heat and cold, and I always like to take a root beer or a cream soda with me.
Coke and rootbeer in the vending machines are the same price, in the suburbs cans are around 75 cents and city's or malls they are like $1.50 (at least in Pennsylvania)
$20.00 for twelve cans? Da, that's expensive! I usually buy a 12-pack of A&W Root Beer for about $4 or $5, depending on where I bought it from.
I believe the popularity of soda in the US is way down because they found out that phosphoric acid is really bad for you. (Both coke and Pepsi have it)
Some root beers have it, some don’t. I’d go by the ingredients.
We had a similar soda called birch beer. In our yard we’re 3 large black birch trees. When they had little shoots growing out of the base of the tree, we would pick them and chew on them for the flavor of birch beer.
A fun show, thanks.
I love all Root beer. And to answer your question all sodas cost about the same price here
They actually have a fast food restaurant A&W in the United States. Which isn't my favorite place for food, but I do like A&W floats.
2:14 Yesssss I've always thought it tastes like medicine. Not the drink for me.🤢
Not bad, but for “sometimes”
@@Zangieff Ain't nobody got time for that.😅
How nice child you have! I prefer natural drinks, without mixing them with other ones. Really nice video
I love this soup
Most non-Americans all say it tastes like medicine and as an American I don’t believe we have that flavor of kids medicine.
Idk but you see, both me and my wife made a reference to smth coming from childhood .. ) yeah, maybe in Russia they treat us with Root (omit beer) 😂
Yeah all the cough medicine I remember was either fake cherry or fake grape flavor, all of it was nasty lol.
The only good flavored children medicine is bubble gum haha I used to love taking my medicine lol
I love A&W root beer floats. And yeah, the texture is weird. It's like velvet.
I can purchase root beer (any brand) or cola (any brand) including Coca-Col for the same price in the U.S. Of course, the price varies, but I'd guess US$1.50 - US$2 each in most markets for any canned or bottled soda. As far as the flavor, I enjoy Root Beer as an alternative to other sodas, such as colas or citrus-flavored drinks, Sprite, 7-Up..
Cool vid! You speak English very well. But your facial expressions are so very Russian 😉 Enjoyed American-style "окрошка" idea and a cameo by your little one 👧🏼
Barqs is my favorite. I would definitely try them cold if you can
*have fun cleaning up the root beer stain 😂😂 they get very sticky*
I love the new editing + the lights very cool looks professional!!!
Edit: Zangiev I got pranked.
I cannot tell you how many times I have wondered if you can make Okroshka with Root Beer! Thank you for testing! Is Kvass sweet like root beer is? There is also Birch Beer that is similar but too sweet for me. Thank you from NY!
Great video with lots of laughs. I am partial to A&W. It is best served in a frosted mug. There are A&W fast food restaurants that serve fine hamburgers.
by the can we can get them about .50 cents a can. Most of the rootbeer is very syrupy.
Yeah, you've got to take it easy with the root bear. It's not gentle like vodka.
Aw your daughter is so precious!!! I can't wait until my son is old enough to try root beer!
It’s better cold or with ice cream as a float.
Ok now I’m throughly convinced Russians can make borscht out of any liquid available.
You could do a video on Russian Proverbs so we know how Russians think.
Here's my favorite one from my country you could lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
It means you can show someone what to do in a situation or give them advice, but they have to choose what to do next.
Thumbs up to the russian soup (what was it called natroshka ?) - Im interested in what Russian people consider nutritious, because rye is not a popular taste in north america even with foodies and health nuts - but I can get rye flakes that I cook with milk, rye kasha you might call it, and its very good food
Root beer flavor is related to cherry, so the brain is going to pick up on that medicine connection first.
A&W is the best root beer for root beer floats. (over vanilla ice cream)
Since kvass is made from rye bread, that means that the soup is basically a sandwich that has become very wet...😁
Root beer tastes good for me but over there people don't like it. My girlfriend doesn't like it plain but she likes it in a root beer float and she lives in Ukraine
Okay I expected you not to like root beer, since everyone in Europe seems to hate it. But the soup thing was a step towards the frightening. I know Russia loves sour cream on EVERYTHING. But pop mixed with vegetables and meat. Who thought of this!😂😂✌
50c a can is still reasonable if you buy a full pack. Lower for larger ones obv. Single cans are ridiculous of course.
Root beer is my favorite drink, and until I visited Europe, I had no idea it was so American, and that so many people thought it tasted like medicine, or some have told me mouthwash. A&W and barqs are both really good..but I like sprechers better.
I prefer Байкал, my personal favourite soda
Funny, I always thought some medicines tasted like root beer.
Try it with vanilla ice cream.
Good joke! We call that a "spit take."
It is interesting to watch this in July 22 a whole world away from then. I did wonder about Kvass which I have never tried. Could it spread across the world like Coca Cola?
I am sure that import substitution when allied with the dropping of international law on patents and copyright, will open up a myriad opportunities and hope you will be able to take advantage of that.
Although she is now a year older, I loved the look on your daughter's face when trying root beer for the first time. Are you in touch with IEarlGrey from St Petersburg as you might have a lot in common.
I hv 🍻 tasted this beer 🍻 in 🇮🇳 it costs Rs 1000 for one can 🥫. Taste was 50-50. Its a costly beer 🍻 compare to 🇮🇳
I was never a big root beer fan myself, though I'll drink it if there is nothing else. Root beer floats are good, though.
I did recently have a root beer flavored beer from Aldis. Definitely won't get that again.
3:45 So cute😊 I don't think she like it though.😆
Yeah she is like “Daddy gives me something to drink, I’d better just drink it and smile” 😂 She’s not a picky eater, so it’s difficult to find something she won’t at least try. Actually she drank I think about a quarter of that can later…. And got hyper just as we had been warned 😅😂
@@NightmareLorelej I agree with her root beer is nasty😖 😅Just kidding not that bad just not my taste.
Bruhh not the root beer soup though lmao. That looked so gross. Overall, I would say root beer is much bigger with older generations and isn't as popular as it used to be. Root beer floats are hard to find in restaurants and are usually associated with throwback diner restaurants with a 1950s theme.
ROOT beer, Alternate versions of Soda..but its fine but not strong haha.
what about half and half cavass and root beer
Why not 😂
Experimenting
when you smell the drink how come you say taste XD haha
I know! 😂 language mistake, slip of the tongue. I know the “smell” word)
@@Zangieff oh okay your english is very good though i only speak english so i cant imagine how difficult it would be to learn another language and then to retain all that information.
I prefer the barq's root beer over the A&w cuz the A&w doesn't have caffeine barq's root beer has caffeine
Remember if some customes might be strange for you somewhere in the world someone might find yours strange
Have you ever tried Ginger-ale?
You should try Dr. Pepper.
all my Russian friends dislike rootbeer. I think of it as the American version of Kvas. I like kvas but I like rootbeer more. rootbeer is made from the sassafras root which makes a good tea.
I personally like root beer
Hey Man . Can i ask you what do you work in Russia? What do you for living? Greetings from Germany , Wolfsburg. ✌🏻
Root beer is my favorite after Dr Pepper. Maybe you have to get used to it
Do y’all have ginger ale? Great video... love from West Virginia....
🤡
I like A&W, I don't like Barq's (weird aftertaste), and I don't care for Coke. A&W has a more vanilla flavor although I don't think they use real vanilla any more. Also, they use to be a sort of fast food chain, and the root beer at the restaurants was the best. There are "craft" root beers that do use real vanilla, and they are usually very good. Root beer floats are great too (w/vanilla ice cream).
Also, in the US, root beer costs the same as any other soda, including coke. Barq's is manufactured by Coke.
There also one soda company here that makes "Leninade". It's actually pretty good.
Have you ever tried Taco Bell? it is great in America.
They have tacos inside of doritos.
Are you drinking cold??? Makes a difference! And barq's all the way
Tastes better cold
I don't like root beer in general. I tried to give it another try when I got older and I still can't drink that stuff. 🤢
And I tried Coke float before, and I just can't. ...What about Dr. Pepper or Fanta float? 🤔
How many times can you say medicine in this video?? 0-0
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👏👏👏👏👏
Anyone else concerned about the color of the water in his glass ? Yikes
Wanna try something that taste like medicine, try Moxie... you won't be disappointed. It's really gross.
I have no idea what you are drinking ,🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
🤪😅😅😅 Awesome... играй на стереотипах! Coke is not Russian Kvass!!! 🍺
To me, Root Beer tastes exactly like Pepto Bismol, the gooey pink indigestion medicine. That weird fake bubblegum flavor.
Root beer in a can is horrible! They don’t make a good root beer anymore! Stuff is only good for a foot!
What’s a better solution then? Glass bottles? Or you just mean other producers
@@Zangieff
Yes some other root beer maker or try glass bottles!
Got it
@@Zangieff A & W especially is made to pour into a glass, like you would a Guinness beer. Then you let the foam settle. But I get how it's unusual and an acquired taste.
Having watched a bunch of Russian vloggers though, I'm surprised. It seems like 'tinctures' of various plants. Rootbeer started out as the American equivalent of that...roots, berries, etc boiled then concentrated into a syrup with sugar, then mixed with soda (i.e. gassed) water.
