Why Are We Called Pirates? Because We YYAARR!! | Republic of Pirates (Pirate City Builder - Demo)

- Republic of Pirates is a pirate themed city builder where we decide to set up a little piratey settlement in order to help us with something very piratey indeed... revenge!
It turns out that the Republic of Pirates turned on our Father and sent him down to Davy Jones' locker, so we want to build up our own little settlement so we can fight back against them.
We begin by sailing our boat around a little in search of a good island to call home, picking up useful goodies along the way, including doubloons! Hooray for exciting-sounding doubloons!
Once we find an island we begin building all those very familiar things; homes, a woodcutter, a plankery, a fishery, all that kind of stuff. Rope is apparently a very important thing for the pirate economy so we have to grow some hemp to turn into rope.
We meet a new friend who joins us in our fight against the Republic but things don't go well when we're attacked by an enemy pirate, "Lucky" Jack! We then have to rebuild our fleet of ships, which we need to make sails for, and go to another island to defeat some other pirates.
NOTE: This is the demo of the game.

Set sail to the heart of the Caribbean and the Golden Age of Piracy! In this era of opportunity, intrepid freebooters seek their fortune upon the high seas, black-sailed marauders prey upon Spanish treasure ships returning from the New World, and opportunistic privateers, emboldened by their ‘letters of marque’ reap the profits of war from their influential patrons.
At the centre of this cutthroat world lies the Republic of Pirates, a powerful league of pirate clans bound together by their shared ideology, ambitions, and code of honour. But while the early days of the confederacy were prosperous, greed and jealousy soon began to spread amongst its members culminating in a vicious mutiny and a final bloody breakup.
Set out to reclaim your father’s legacy and bring justice to the traitors who wronged you. Develop a humble outpost into a sprawling settlement by investing in production buildings to create a self-sustaining economy. Utilise the black market to distribute valuable resources and grow the wealth of your pirate citizens. Recruit heroic captains and command a powerful fleet in real-time as you take to the waves in the name of conquest. Liberate islands, defeat rival factions, and navigate complex diplomatic relationships with the global superpowers of the time.
Create a resource-based economy - Utilise 100+ unique buildings to provide the resources and infrastructure required to grow your burgeoning republic. Develop the skills of your pirate citizens by supplying them with luxury goods, and upgrade to new tiers of industry with increasingly more complex production chains.
Engage in real-time naval battles - Command a fleet of ships to explore the archipelago and conquer new territories. Engage in real-time strategic combat with vulnerable merchant vessels, marauding buccaneers, and powerful ships of the line. Utilise the tactical map to plan and execute your next raid.
Conduct diplomacy - Establish and manage dynamic relationships with local pirate clans and influential national trading companies. Harbour rivalries and forge alliances as you navigate a complex diplomatic web where no action goes unnoticed.
Expand your fleet - Construct 8 unique ship classes, including the nimble Brigantine and the formidable Man-of-war, and customise your fleet’s appearance with emblems and cosmetics. Recruit talented captains and hone their skills in battle to unlock new specialisations and combat tactics.
Undertake missions - Receive orders to attack settlements, collect bounties, and strike trade deals to influence your standing in the Caribbean. Race against time to fulfil urgent faction requests and shape your fate by deciding how multi-choice story events are resolved.

I am enjoying all the dancing around the more risque topics and words that you are having to do for this demo. So many silly people who want to watch birds!
So it's pirate themed Anno.... Got it.
This is very similar to Anno 1800, which was fun to play. You pronounced Rojas very well. You're correct, it sounds like an "h".
Indeed. At the same time, 'Isabella' with 2 L's cannot be Spanish.
Great video Penge. This game remind me of Anno...
Yes Anno but fun
It is Anno. Such a blatant rip off in fact I am surprised it made it to publication without getting sued into oblivion.
🎵Yo-ho-ho and a lovely cuppa tea🎵
🎵It's the pirates life for me🎵
Mary Conner looks like Sharon Osbourne.
I suppose so, a bit, if you squint!
Is that Sean Bean?????
Oh, no. Everyone's going to die, aren't they.
To soon?
Value at time period. When doubloons were exchanged In Spain, doubloons were equivalent to $4
Today the amount of gold in a single doubloon is worth about £398.
@@stephena1196 Knowledge is great :)
Penge saying Arrgh is the cutest thing ever!
It's the same noise I'd make if I stubbed my toe!
Gold, Revenge, Freedom all of this I leave to you take to the sea You'll find it all in The Pirate Republic
A lot people disliked it but my favorite Tropico game remains Tropico 2: Pirates Cove. Maybe this will give a similar amount of fun for me? Time will tell...
I was going to comment about this. It was a good game.
+1
Tropico 2 is still a unique game, back in the days i used to play more with Knights & Merchants and Tropico2 than Age of Empire / Stronghold / Cossacks.
Tropico 2 had that unique management-system, you had to send the ship out if you wanted to get workers for your (for example) banana farm, also that masterpiece menu-animation with that music theme i loved that game so much. Also Knights & Merchants had also only great musics, i don't know how those developers could create such great concepts, some of the games back then was truely an art.
It's such a fun game. The music and sound effects are still in my brain deeply engrained. I could play that game for hours and not even notice much time passed. Kind of like the first two Rollercoaster Tycoon games!
Another old strategy game I always really enjoyed is Lords of the Realm 2 - something about those fire pots that you could move like any other unit was just hilarious to me.
Hello again penge. Always glad to see yer content. Thank you T.G.C.
You play as the Pirates of Anno
Maybe you've forgotten. 'Key bindings' Make spacebar pause. Why torture yourself ? ;) Good vid.
An English man calling a ship a boat Tut Tut
Hang on, is there a difference?!
@@TheGeekCupboard Ship is usually the term for a large ocean-going vessel while 'boat' is for smaller vessels with less distance to travel/that stay closer to a shore or also submarines, I believe, yes.
@@TheGeekCupboard A ship can carry a boat, but a boat cannot carry a ship... recently replayed black flag so it came to mind instantly.
"In casual use, the word boat is often used to refer to any watergoing vessel, regardless of its size or how it's powered."
This is definitely casual circumstances 😂
@@TheGeekCupboard I will pretend you never said that and make sure my Naval companions never ever read this.
its actualy Anno with pirats
44:00 "One death demands another. He'll be made to pay. Publicly... - We will need to build a new _decoration_ " 😅
This looks like they built the game on the "Anno 1800" game.
A doubloon was worth about four Spanish dollars, so that was about 80 grand in your starting fund, or 320,000 pieces of eight
Oh Lord, what an atrocious Pun for the episode title! *Eagerly looks for the next one.* . (Y Si' Rojas es en "Gringo" Row-Hass (Yes, in English Rojas is Row-Hass Isabella or any brothel employee is very good at....err, "Stork Letter writing.")
This is like a remake of the old game PIRATE COVE!
First one here
WINNER!
As a matter of fact, there _was_ a republic of pirates (called 'Libertatia'). It was not in the Caribbean but in Madagascar.
So tropico 2: pirate cove but using Anno mechanics. Will have to keep an eye on it.
It does have less of the tropico 2 piraty feel too it. But that could be because it looks like its an Anno 1800 mod.
how i can get this game to playing in my channel ? THXQ
Mental pic of the day ..: Mr Cup too Mrs Cupboard ....So how about a game of Boules ? wink wink nudge nudge ,,know what i mean ?
There seems to be a modicum of violence. Is this game 'Aaaarrrgh' Rated? Cheers.
Penge, you're a rum man? I'm surprised! You didn't strike me as a rum man. I thought you might be a scotch man. I love scotch! 🤣
I'm a new rum man! Three years ago I went to a wedding and someone thrust a glass of rum into my hand which I initially didn't want but I tried it and thought "hey, this is ok!".
I then had some more rum and possibly some things happened that I can't really remember...
@@TheGeekCupboard Haha! I had a similar experience with scotch... 😂
Spacebar isn't pause? Scandalous!
"Hellooooo---pirate."
Of course they're not going to be predictable. ;)
did jack made a freaking harem?
or sweet baby inc DETECTED?
Fun Fact: 3.14% of sailors are Pi Rates
Boo boo but funny
Seems like a direct ripoff of ANNO1800 ,Almost exactly the same tbh.
I never understood why people were so worried about men, with only one working hand, a missing eye to hamper their depth perception, no teeth thanks to scurvy, and a missing leg...
Maybe it was the hook at the end of their arm that did it.
what? there's only a female brothel? is that really going to please all pirates? arr! 😀
Awww, added a female pirate for the transleft. Cute game for cute fahguts.
Historically there were female pirates. Mary Killigrew, Grace O'Malley, Ching Shih, all female pirates who were allegedly very good at pirating.
So you can get back in your box, close the lid and perhaps come out again when you realise that not everything is out to offend you.
I see another historical uneducated. My thanks to Penge. Also regarding your "comments" many "Androgynous" as they were known in earlier times people were on the sea, so perhaps any pirate or even seafaring game up to the 20th century game is not for you. (Appreciate if you could leave all politics out of casual gaming streamers. There are many many other social forum and media places where that is welcomed and even echo chambered.) Any just for you since you went above and beyond, "Happy Pride!"
Less talk, more show.
My apologies to your attention span.
