I’m 60, and arthritis makes the jumping too painful. But I’m right there with you on the stretching. I’m infinitely more flexible than I was ten years ago. I’m getting a lot of great stuff on this channel
The Kneesovertoesguy channel is a good one for watch muscles to workout for jumping (as well as general longevity).
@@elijahrusso5403 Thanks, Elijah. I just subscribed. I started doing deep squats a month or so ago, and sissy squats (thanks Lisa Chaves) two weeks ago. The difference is already tremendous. I really believe I can fix my knees.
@@gravestonemyth You can definitely fix your knees by strengthening all the muscles around the knee caps to keep everything in place and less likely to slide around and cause pain, sissy squats are DEFINITELY going to help it.
I always get so excited when I find people who are seeing bigger benefits than just the muscle gain and confidence improvement, it's the HEALING part for some of us. I used to have HORRENDOUS posture with a big cervical hump. Well, I started working on holding my good posture WHILE lifting weights, and it tremendously changed the shape of my neck and back, it even defined my jawline. The best part, no more neck pain or back aches when I did this.
Too bad covid had to eff it all up, now I'm starting over, at around 50% progress on my posture correction, and it somehow seems harder to do.
@@saraev1119 Thanks for the encouragement. I’ve been doing sissy and Hindu squats for the past 8 weeks and the difference is tremendous. No knee pain whatsoever. I have FAI arthritis in my left hip so running and jumping are not happening anytime soon. But daily yoga and calisthenics make me feel 20 years younger. It’s unbelievable!
@@gravestonemyth Wow, see that's amazing! Imagine how many ailments can be fixed with exercising? It can even cure depression and anxiety in people. I wish physical exercise was still prescribed by doctors instead of, "heres this medicine to fix that diabetes you have as a direct result from being morbidly obese, oh and the heart problems, heres your monthly prescription", instead of trying the natural approach of taking steps to reach the goal of a healthy lifestyle to completely eradicate those things all together, you know?
Anyways! I just noticed your post is 4 months old so you must be basking in the glory of muscular legs aside from now being pain free.😊 awesome!
You’re keeping me young at 73 !!
I don’t know if you will ever read this but I wanted to reach out to say that I stumbled onto one of your workouts and now I’ve added strength/stretching and flexibility workouts to my daily routines and by god I can do full squats and knee bends like a champion and I’ve been so ridiculously tight in my legs MY ENTIRE LIFE! My friends are probably like “ok enough already” cause I can’t stop talking about these amazing benefits from these workouts- thanks for sharing! You are amazing!!!
ha that's so great to hear. happy you're feeling good.
This is so Dope, especially the Park Clean-up parts... I do this religiously now every time I jog. I grab at least two handsful of trash along my run. Thank you for the brilliant information I'd have never learned otherwise, even after being a lifelong athlete. The parts about levers and the backbend were brilliant!

I love your analytical approach to explaining the three sources of force in stretching - it has helped me to understand it much better.
Love these dudes.
So do I are they related or ?
@@shannonwilliams9055 Yes they're brothers
Thank you so much been having painful back problems but I ran across this video and I gained my flexibility back in just a few weeks and I’m not having any painful back problems anymore !

this is excellent. so useful. clearly explained and demonstrated. thanks Trevor
Great video, really helped me to rethink how I am stretching today! Thank you.
Thanks brother. You have no idea how helpful and inspiring you guys are.
really appreciate all that you do and share 🙏
Hey, I just want to say: yes, you are so right. I tried so many things to get rid of my hip/back/leg pain.... For two weeks I tried your training with the stretch where the foot presses against the wall (min 00:25) ... and now the pain is gone. The things I tried before were quite similar, but never that intense. The intensity of the stretch did the job, so, let me say: Thank you!!! But one thing: I had a professional check my problem and he said that it was in my left leg(from too much sitting) so I knew what stretch I was looking for.
Amazing techniques, thank u for the lovely video 🤩
Something new
Informative
And well explained. wish I could meet you in person someday.
Great work👍
And seriously, who needs a gym
This is such good stuff! I am very stiff from sitting in front of computer and commuting to work via cargo van for years. My body is deprived. I will use gravity to help it!
I love this channel and found you at a most perfect time!!!!
Great advices and tips as usual ! Thanks man, have a great Sunday !
Wow, really heartfull! Thanks a lot ... I enjoyed your joy . Makes me want to get my own stretching in more depth progress ; )
Great video!! Thank you
Wow! Thanks for this! Very informative and definitely some info I hadn't heard or considered before. Definitely gonna incorporate gravity and loading techniques into my stretching routine. Thank you again 😁 Also subscribed.
Love the explanation thanks make it simple and easy.
Great content bro.
Thanks for sharing these tips.
Great series. Just what I need!
I just love hearing you talk.
If I may add to this, I've found progress in flexibility by specifying my flexibility training to my actual strength goals. For example, when I was trying to achieve a pike pushup. I know for a lot of folks that's the level 1 progression for the over head body weight press, but for me it was been like level 4. I'm 6ft11 and was over 360 pounds when I started working out seriously and consistently about 2 years ago. Apart from the fact that I just COULDN'T press my body weight over head, no matter how hard I tried or how easy I made the leverage (I was literally overhead pressing almost horizontally, like off the edge of a kitchen kitchen counter or table), I didn't have the hamstring flexibility to even touch my toes... Hell to even do a downward dog... So how am I gonna do a pike push up, so... You watch videos and routines for hamstring flexibility. And just like that, you've started your flexibility journey. Second example was the same thing, Deep squat. Had a really hard time getting into a deep hunter gatherer, primal squat. So I started working on hip and ankle flexibility and mobility... So what's my ultimate point? Rather than just trying to do all the stretches all the time, think about your LARGER fitness goals. This will allow you to target your searches. So you don't feel lost and overwhelmed by all the information out there. My day job a 3d/CGI digital artist, animator and illustrator, and this is exactly how I learned all the software I've been using on a professional level for years. I had a goal, a final emd goal, say a particular image, with a particular character, in a particular environment, etc, and I would try to achieve that specific goal, and google the specific problems that came up as I went along a specific path. But if I was just like "how to learn ______" I'd be overwhelmed with the plethora of information and tutorials and methods and techniques.
Oooohhhh this was so good to read! I’m definitely going to refocus on my hamstrings and hips because I can’t touch my toes, do a downward dog or a deep squat.
Also, daaaaaammmnnn @ 6’11.
Excellent advice. Learn specifically what you need to help you achieve an end goal. This can literally be applied to everything. Thanks for sharing 💪
Thank you. I have a very mothodic way of learning and I've noticed the same thing for other areas. Never thought of applying it to fitness, so thanks!
Bro...thank you for this. You made me realize something big. Really. Have a great journey
This comment is a goldmine. My personal experience completely seconds this.
I legit came here to find what things I need to switch up in my body too.
Example being born with underdeveloped Psoas; my major hip muscle groups were born tight and weak and sumo squats absolutely kill me without any weight.
I focus more backward bridges, crab walks, things that open the front of my hips where it is worst all the time.
It was the park clean-ups that did it for me the most. 😍
This is so digestible. You are a great teacher
Much needed. TY
the points you made about using your lever with gravity are very smart and helps me a lot! ill be using that tip for sure! thank you
Loving your vibe, spirit and direction. From one Yogi to another. Watching from the UK. I hit the like button and subscribed.
I take ballet class. I want to improve the split! It´s so hard and I am stiff in that movment. Thanks for all the good advice you spread.
Amazing channel!! You got me more into mobility, flexibility, parkour! Please make a video on parkour and your journey with it!
Great video, I'm 62 yo and I have never been able to sit "cross legged "
And I'm kinda stiff all over. I've been following along with Josh for about 3-4 months now. Love the primal crawling routines, I can now crawl for about 2-3 minutes. Any advice on a morning stretch routine ??
Please keep posting this type of videos.
KAJ !!😎👍
Helpful tips! I tried the pancake stretch modification and have renewed hope of gains

Thank you so much for these gravity tips and examples! I have really struggled to stretch like at 4:11 and thought about how to fix it, and here you have such a smart solution that I just haven’t thought of 😅
Sooo good thanks 😊

Also, love the energy from you :)
Thank you
Love it, Josh!
I've always been super tight and at 26 it's catching up to me. This video has some great tips that I'll have to implement while changing my focus from only strength to a balance of flexibility and strength.
Love it! Found you on Tik tok but really enjoying these longer in-depth vids :)
Aaaaaaaaa,Maaaaan!Best video and I'm looked for.🙏THX from Belarus!
Great video! Sometimes the simplest things are so hard to see.
Thanks a lot 🙏🌻☀️
Thankyou for these videos. I’ve always done stretches. But after a bout of Long Covid every time I stretched I’d burst into tears with what I can only explain as “poison” (like a snake bite and no I’ve never had one of those Hahahaha) and a lot of lower extremities pain in ligaments and joints. Very odd feeling for someone who has been very flexible then not be able to do the “norm”.
No that I feel the “poison” (virus) has going/gone out of my system these videos are helping motivate me to do those stretches again as I feel even less than a beginner. Thankyou so much for your motivation it really does help. One thing to be thankful for with covid......CZcams videos became a lot more, our world community became closer and people like me that are “healing” can have your beautiful instruction along with access to sooooo much beauty through community. Thankyou beautiful soull. You help so many. 💖🙏🏻💋
Really helpful cues, thanks a lot :)
Been attempting yoga for 2 years now, no flexibility progress, discovered this channel, I subscribed so quick
Wow, I've been doing it for 5 months
Love watching these guys!
great stuff, thanks!
Thank you from North Carolina where a 57yr old guy is limbering up to your kick ass VIDS! Soooo tight but I see the light!
Awesome, can't thank you enough
Great content!
Such a smart guy. Thanks for sharing :)
Fantastic!
I never comment. But this is great. Great information. Great values.
Thank you very much
As always, such great tips man :)
Aerial progress looked great! Small tip, get your hips a little lower before take off, then explode up. You’ll need less and less depth as you develop the ability to pop the hips the up. We used to say, “start high if you want to go low, start low if you want to go high.”
Great video!
Thank u ⭐
Pancake stretch for the non flexible on a bench is a super good tip. Will be using that one. thanks
Lovely backdrops!
Thanks Bro!!!
Fantastic

Thaank you
Hey man, can you make a video about hip impingement?
I know you already released one but that was 5 years ago and maybe you have a new perspective on how to treat it.
I learned something. Thanks.
I’ve just found my calling. This channel is brilliant
I really want to get more flexible. Thank you for these videos.
thanks for posting almost 67 still training .... training keeps me from becoming "OLD"
This is great. Thanks. My forward fold is rubbish….. time to get gravity on the case.
