I wouldn't say I don't understand a single thing about what Petscop is, but I will say I have this playlist downloaded and it has been a sleep aid for about as long as it's been out
@@Strifezx A terribly written, half baked, and lazily edited "theory" that he tries to pass off as fact up until the end where he says "just a theory". I'm sorry but his quality dropped immensely after all his fnaf videos...
One thing nobody seems to have touched on regarding the word "scop": in Old English/Anglo-Saxon, the letter combination SC was usually pronounced like Modern English's SH, meaning that "scop" would be pronounced the same way as "shop". Which in turn would mean that, if the title is indeed meant to be broken down into "Pet Scop", it would technically be pronounced the same way as "Pet Shop". And, considering the implications of what might really be going on here, that could very well be one of the most ominous puns in web series history.
I figured it was just called petscop like "Pets-Cop" as in you capture pets like cops capture criminals. With the pets being seen as misbehaving like criminals. And I say misbehaving as in they are running away from their would-be captor, you; not that I blame them for running away from whatever the protagonist is.
I know that the connection to the real life Candace Newmaker case kind of soured the foster care themes for a lot of people, but as someone who works as a case manager for foster children, i wish it was explored more. For example, i see the "child library" and the "you dont have to love them right away" as very very real day to day life. I work with kids who change homes night to night, and oftentimes the caregivers do pass around the children the same way one can give away a dog to a neighbor. Group homes do often sort of collect children and them dump them on other homes the way the child library works. In Amber, i see the fear of being put in a bad home, and a reluctance to even leave the abusive parents side. The devil you know is easier than an unknown. In Wavy and Randice i see a bonded pair of siblings, one who soothes the other of their anxiety and fear, even while Wavey's entry says hes also afraid. In Toneth i see severe disability that no person wants to work with. With our transporters, some will say things like "i feel sorry for you, you have the diabetic one today, you have insulin duty." I see something similar in Pen. "why bother? You wont make it no matter how hard you try." Most of all, the Pet Shop comparison truly works for me. The company i work for is being merged, so cases are being shuffled around. There is a severe pressure on case managers to get children adopted within a year. The Adoption and Safe Families Act passed in the US mandates that children must be reunited or put up for adoption in that time frame. On top of that, the high burnout rate means things slip through the cracks. I have a coworker with 40 children on their load. I worked 60 hours this week with only 12. There is a pressure on workers to get kids in and out, so they do end up placed in bad homes where foster parents are mad that these kids are traumatized. "show them theres nothing to be afraid of" turns into tricking and berating and trapping, and then returning because they wanted Care A, not Care NLM. Because Toneth has a broken leg and hes better off dead. Ive seen parents react like Anne at the end of the series. "Your new life letter" with frantic last goodbyes because the next visit is in a week. While i understand why things went the way that they did, and while i understand abuse within family units as a theme, abuse in the foster system is something i wish was kept as a through-line. The pet comparison was utterly brilliant, and i wish that the pets themselves were also explored more. Ultimately, children are often treated as pets, or gifts, or incinveniences who need to be rebirthed into a new and shiny pet. Nobody wants to close the loop, they just want to start over with a new kid they can rebirth into their ideal pet. Im rambling at this point. But i havent seen it talked about much from the perspective of the foster system, only that the comparison was there. I wanted to share some thoughts from that side of things.
Wow, I appreciate your words and more than that, the work you and your coworkers do. Petscop hit home hard for me as I grew up in/around the foster care system as my mom got sick when I was a tween/early teen, and my non-verbal younger sister has a severe global development delay (which we also now know she has a genetic defect of missing half a chromosome), and (now moreso than ever) due to her size and aggression IS one of those "toneth" type kids you described. My mom doesn't understand why my sister's staff are constantly changing, but it's because as a 20 year old, she can be scary. We just had a situation on the weekend where she wanted to go in our car, and when we refused, it became a nightmare of egress, neighbors looking wide-eyed at this 5'7" girl bellowing and beating the f*ck out of my mom's car (put a dent in it by the tire well ffs, but at least my toe isn't broken and my mom's discs in her back aren't broken/pulled from us getting thrashed, which has happened so often before). I'm in Canada and there's no funding for kids like her. The government won't even give staff 2:1 support, because there ISN'T enough staff for all their houses to begin with. It was a nightmare going through 3 different companies to get her somewhere *better* before she turned 19 (legal adult in canada), and it's still extremely depressing knowing that she can't have a "normal" life like my mom wants her to have.... because unfortunately my sister isn't "just" a kid from a broken home or "only" has autism. Those things you don't need individual, personalized training for. The "you don't have to love them right away" line hit me in the gut and always will, having been passed around from home to home because my sister was "too difficult" even when I was the one taking care of her in those instances. The system is overworked and outdated, and the "child library" really works to show how "depersonalized" caring for these hurt kids has become, including the little "drop-off chute" Paul ends up putting the Care he found into I'm always shocked at how little the adoption/foster care angle is looked at in petscop, because for me, it was extremely clear from the first few signs Paul reads/looks at.
I think that the constant de-personing (the child library, people being referred to as pets, the constant ambiguity between person and algorithm) is extremely telling of the work's themes. It meshes with the themes of abuse, as people are malleable, predictable. The chaos and obscurity of the overworld and the experience of Paul, and the way the game directly speaks to and references his personal life make it clear that Petscop is a work about the life of an object, the life of a person. In each person lies objecthood, the work tries to say.
The different characters illustrate different reactions to life as an object. The reactions range from controlling malevolence, to scientific pursuit of knowledge, to resentment, to panic, to despair. The paradox of objects, pets, having personalities and traits plays into the aforementioned theme, as does the prose on the dog struck by a car, the broken bird, the child library. Paul must sort through this whilst dealing with the troubles of his own path as an object, vulnerable, malleable, predictable. Let me know if you have anything to add or find anything wrong with my thoughts ^^
One point I didn't hear mentioned is that, when you're removing petals from the flower, it may be a metaphor for "deflowering" Care. When you see her again after pulling all the petals off, she looks absolutely ruined. Care may have experienced some sort of sexual abuse.
I thought the same too! Especially since the creepy note itself further on seems to allude that Care was emotionally and sexually abused by someone. The " isn't growing eyebrows" ,"excited", thinking of her "in the bathtub" - yikes I wish Paul would've gone down to check on her first before plucking the flower - I have a good hunch that she might have been in State A - and then after all the plucking (the abuse) she went down all the way pass NLM
I think the part where Paul's feet vanish briefly is just a random grass object. You can see a more clear example on the patch of grass where Randice and Wavey are caught.
Thank you for not putting on any big jumpscares or overkill suspense music, I really want to learn about things like these but I get freaked out pretty easily. Great video!
I'm very surprised that so far I haven't seen anybody investigate the story being told in Care's room. For me it was the most visceral part of the series and seems to indicate that the game was made by a very malevolent person. The story about "Care not growing eyebrows, you are secretly excited by this, you think about her in the bathtub, she'll appear limping from the darkness and I'll shoot her in the head..." it seems to be a HUGE lead in the mystery and nobody has done any real digging into it. For instance, WHO exactly will shoot her in the head? It seems to me that it is the game maker talking, not Marvin, who is the father. This part of the series implies violence, incest and also gets further elaborated when Paul captures Care and her reincarnation from the windmill friend is explained. Does anyone have any theories about this part of the game?
@@tanferecci I think everyone passes over it because there hasn't been enough information to incorporate into a theory, although doing so is pretty damn narrowminded.
@@justalittleloser2482 Indeed. Those big chunks of text are the biggest expositions Petscop ever gets, i.e. this note, the note from Rainer about the gift for Marvin, the note from Rainer on the purple room, etc.
@@justalittleloser2482 I don't know if its narrowminded, there's really nothing to do with that bit of information but read it. I don't even think we know if its a narrator saying this, or if the protag secretly found a note, and its presented as a narration caption to throw the viewer off.
Could she or someone else be pulling out her eyebrow hair with the tweezers? Or is there a medical condition where you don’t grow eyebrows? That part just seems super random to me...
While Night Mind may have a more dexterous and all-encompassing analysis once this series is finished, and his initial video was merely to call attention to an underrated web series, I'm glad that you are breaking things down in this segmented manner as the actual analysis in the former video was rather lacking. Can't wait for the next parts and hopefully Petscop releases two new videos in time for you to do a part four!
I agree, nicks vid was good and all but I was kinda hoping for a little more analysis, and I think that his video being singular somewhat prevented a follow up if a huge breakthrough in a further episode while doing segments allows any changes to help you correct anything that may be proven wrong
Wasn't Petscop featured on Night Vision on his channel? He has different types of videos and Night Vision is basically letting people have a taste of the next creepy thing he's found. Night Mind I think is always in allowing people to experience what is out there on their own, especially if it's new. Unlike when he did his huge series on EveryManHYBRID or TribeTwelve, which have been around for years. I am however glad for channels like these who do like to go in depth about these narratives and give explanation. I hope more people discover Nightmare Masterclass and enjoy what his channel is about. Hopefully not seeing him as a Night Mind copy cat.
Honestly, I find Nightmare Masterclass to be better than Night Mind in general. To me, Nightmare is more informative and has an easier voice to listen to. On top of this, I really don't care for the way Night Mind has a tendency to get too meta in his videos, it's a little too self-aggrandizing for my tastes. If Nightmare Masterclass had more videos, I would probably recommend him over Night Mind to anyone who's interested in this type of thing.
This was a very good video! It was very high quality and I feel that it did a really good job at analysing the series. I'm definitely sharing this with the community.
No problem! (Also, sorry about posting this video on the subreddit before you. Guess I probably should've let you do it, since you did say in this video that you knew about the sub.)
Nightmare Masterclass Have you looked at what the Petscop channel's About section says??? are you going to add that into a video in your series and discuss it? I personally think it's definitely worth mentioning.....
Where the hell do I begin on this. This video is perfect. Your voice, detailed analysis and constantly inserting footnotes through out is super amazing( I work as a teacher so to see footnotes used often is good). This type of topic invokes so many different emotions ranging from curiosity, mystery to sadness and shame. Its incredibly fascinating looking down the lens to see an old game and just wondering how they managed to piece all these seemingly random elements, puzzle making, world design to create such a mystifying game. What makes it even more interesting is that newer games don't really have that level of complexity (guides for pretty much all games on YT these days). As for the game itself its a whole new world. After seeing this video explaining some of the concepts that the game covers( and the manner in which they are presented to the player), I decided to delve a little deeper and found the subreddit for Petscop. Its really opened my eyes to how engrossing the game has been for so many fans who pour so many hours into analysis of minor details, just in the hope they might gain some understanding of the almost infinite realm of discovery that Petscop seems to be. Its not even as if the game itself is so vast, its the avenues of research the game takes you down that adds to the complexity. The unknown and fascination with it can take the human mind to a myriad of places. Thank you for this and good day!
Alongside the analysis of Evencare as a foster care agency, the theme of transitions also fits in. Every time a child is distupted there is trauma. We are specifically taught a class on how to transition kids from manager from manager, from home to home. Quite often there is a traumatic response to change, because the experience IS traumatic. Marvin's desire to return to childhood, to replicate his very early childhood, is a common response to trauma. To lash out at others and dehumanize them is also common. Transitions are traumatic. The courts are involved in every transition. Of course a seven year old would be traumatized by his friend vanishing. I see it every day. Its simply the difference between seeing others as pets or fellow human beings that seperates Marvin from Paul.
God your editing is so good and the script is so clear. Tanks for this, love the footnote system you have, really makes remembering specific details easier, can't wait for future parts!
another great video. content like yours (not to mention petscop) is truly bringing out the artistic possibilities of youtube. also thanks for giving us a less toxic place to discuss some of these things (i get so tired of reading comments by immature trolls)
i swear nobody has noticed this but when you say "window-like enclosure" it syncs up with the music and im STUNNED that nobody has noticed this on a more serious note: i love bingewatching this investigation playlist these videos are so good
Also, I did notice the feet dissapearing. But when you watch further you notice that any time he is on grass, there are these 2D planes of grass scattered around that make it look like he is walking behind the grass and not just on top of it. I'm pretty sure this is just game design but perhaps it has more meaning.
If this is indeed a creepypasta, consider me intrigued.. Because this would have to be the most elaborate, convincing, well-planned prank/internet meme i've ever encountered. I would gladly bow/shake the hand of the maker of this.
Convincing? It's like everyone who watches this shit has never played a playstation 1 game. It's far too clean to be an actual playstation 1 game. There's little to no polygon jitter...
It's not a real game. It's just not. That's not my feeling, it's simply true. It's an amazing piece of work. But yeah, call it a creepypasta or whatever you want, but the guy who made the vid also made the game. This is not hard to grasp.
Ooohhh my gooooshhhh, I'm 10 minutes in and I'm so happy to be watching this! A lot of people ahve already pointed out some of the better praises for this video, so I'll just say, I really didn't expect nearly the level of quality from this youtube I'd never heard of. I'm really curious about Petscop, but am not personally very good at analizing and reading into abstract situations and sticking with them long enough to form my own theories. Having videos like this to break them down comprehensively is AMAZING for me. THANK YOU for making this!!!
I had the suspicion that your frequent use of footnotes (with the pause in storytelling and skillfully appropriated in-game sfx) would become grating, but you use them to give such insightful comments every time that I find myself looking forward to them!
Amber at 12:05 could potentially be a reference to a reference to Gypsy Blanchard, who had her boyfriend kill her mother when her mother was 48. 48 is the amount of pets in the Gift Plane and Gypsy pled guilty to 2nd degree murder and said SHE'D BE HAPPIER IN PRISON THAN IMPRISONED BY HER MOTHER. The motive was that her mother had forced her to pretend to be disabled.
I don't think the "Go Back" button shimmering means anything. If you pay attention, any high color-contrast borders in the game shimmer in the same way. Note that the borders between the path to Even Care and the grass are shimmerirng, the trees in front of even care in front of the pink background, any time the pink walls interact with the blue floor, the border between the collectibles and many different backgrounds, and on and on. It looks like deinterlacing artifacts to me, but it's been a long time since I've had to deinterlace any video. Maybe I'm wrong and every single border that's shimmering actually has some meaning to it, but I think you have to analyze all shimmering borders and not just pick and choose the ones that seem to have obvious meaning.
I never really see it when people talk about the sexual assault narrative, but care nlm could also be because of the assault. Victims of csa often don't understand what happened to them, but they know it makes them feel gross, leading to the conclusion that they're forever unclean and unlovable, hence 'nobody loves me'. also the rebirthing of the friend in care, I don't think it's literal, but Marvin using care as a replacement for her
Nightmind: There isn't really enough content or evidence to continue this series. It's very open ended. Nightmare Masterclass: Hold my beer. I knew there was more to this than what I have seen other people comment on you have dug up so much more and HOLY SHIT I'm glad I've stumbled across your videos.
Oh my gods. I'm only 12 minutes in, but I am loving this so far. Your cadence and speech is very nice to listen to. You are hitting on points, you aren't being one of the many try hard "creepy media analysis videos" I keep finding that sacrifice actual intelligent discussion to appeal to the 16 and under "OH GAWSH THIS IS SUPER SPOOKY CREEPYPASTA I THINK IT'S REAL GAIZ I MAY NEED MY SPECIAL NIGHTLIGHT" That oozes drivel and a superficial understanding of horror from so many other videos on similar topics that I keep hitting. I look forward to finishing out your playlist on Petscop.
Call me a weirdo but I listen to this vid and the next 1 or 2 proceeding one's in the series every year while putting up my family's Christmas tree. This is year 4 of the tradition.
Thank you for introducing me to Petscop! I hadn't heard of it before, and went and watched the entire series after the first minute of this video. It is most entirely up my alley, and made my day. :) I'm going to have to go over Optimality Theory a few more times, I think. Trying to parse it out in one go is making my brain hurt. I'm going to look more into it right now.
I think the shed scene is something else other than "deflowering". Sad Care with her eyes covered is referred to as "NLM," which stands for "Nobody Loves Me". This shed scene depicts the picking off of the petals, and, if you're familiar with the "loves me, loves me not" game, the petals eventually land on "Loves Me Not." It's also important to note that this specific kind of flower in the scene is the most common kind used for "loves me, loves me not." It could be that Care was verbally or physically abused and not sexually abused, as this is the only point in the game when sexual abuse would be referenced; other places and items refer specifically to physical harm and abuse.
Anyone ever consider that the "you dont konw how to open doors" would only suit a baby or small child, or animal? because every actual human can open doors?
iunary not every human lmfao, why do you think we have automatic doors? And the door thing comes into play later in the series symbolically, ie a common way of hiding abuse (to the point of it becoming a trope in media) is the good ol “I fell into the door” excuse.
I'm on round 2 of watching your three videos on petscop and this is by far the best analysis of this "let's play" series. You're so well spoken to explain your thoughts and theories and organize everything in a much easier way to understand compared to just watching the series.
These videos are amazing! Rewatching a second time cause they’re just so entertaining. I used to have these play in the background while playing Dead Rising on my Xbox… good times man. Love that music you made too!
12:24 Amber was the *name* of the child that went missing. She was the cause for the amber alert system. She was kidnapped and killed. Hope this helps!
I admit I was introduced to Petscop by Pyrocynical, but I am so so glad I found your channel. He seems to have cribbed quite a few of the points you organized, and I enjoy your attention to detail and your well-worded observations much more than I did his. Thank you for making Petscop so much more interesting.
I really like your analysis style! You get the details and explain them fully, just like all my professors tell me to do in my essays, but I forget often.
Yasamin Gate Salad Fingers is a British flash animation web series created by David Firth in July 2005. It stars Salad Fingers and multiple other casts. Its story is bizarre. I recommend you try to watch it.
Has anyone considered 'Petscop' being a portmanteau of 'pets' and 'cop', cop being used as a verb in the context of to take something? As in, copping a pet?
'copping' would be a pretty bad term to use for something that's meant to be analyzed as it's not only slang, but rarely used and fairly new slang. You want to use terms that are in common vernacular, or at least ones that can be linked (such as latin)
@@cicada300 it's more widely known than scop, though. If I'm honest I'm not sure the name has any significance at all, but copping in reference to the name petscop was my first thought.
I just wanted to say that this investigative series you have created is absolutely phenomenal and really deserves more attention. I'm watching the whole series again for the third time and it's still crammed with interesting ideas and details I hadn't remembered from the last two watches. Incredible work 👍
You note Paul glossing over the mysterious texture obscuring the character's feet, and then minutes later you have footage of the character running along a grassy field, feet obscured all the way...
16:39 The c in Care's is quivering a bit, signifying that this character is a warning or some pet to collect (which is the case) but since this is the only time apart from the triangle in the file namer is the text quivering when the text itself is in a sentence relating to pets, but looking into the game the message is very clear, the person who made this game is a person that was involved in the death of Candice Newmaker, this may not be shocking from face value but this game maybe a memorial for these people that went on a trip at a windmill, here is the theory. Before the Candice Newmaker incident, Candice went with her friends, their names are Paul, Care, Micheal, and Marvin. These people went to a windmill, and they suddenly vanished. A few years later, before the 'rebirthing' process Candice undertook, a person involve in the death of Candice chatted with Newmaker. He/she got this information: Micheal was bullied by Marvin when Marvin got his PS1, since the parents didn't notice, the bullying got so bad that the month before the windmill, Micheal got beaten up so bad that he went to the hospital for even seeing the PS1 in the same room as Marvin was in. Micheal fully healed when he was invited on the windmill trip, Paul always got arm injuries, and Care was bullied at a school that these kids went to, and her parents didn't knew that their daughter was getting bullied. After the rebirthing process and the charges were made, the person who was on patrol created the game Petscop, serving as a cover up to get the public's support on this matter, creating a fake company, fake copyright date and sold on the ps1 to sell to people that the incident was fake, making strong hints to the Candice Newmaker incident, and making it a child's game to get more people to buy. Since most publisher said it was too dark for a child's game, the person created a quick, child - friendly, unfinished level to cover it up. Since that wasn't enough to publish, because the testers could easily find the Newmaker Plane, he sold into a random family coming with a note that came with the game that included a weird paragraph, a date and a instruction on how to get into the Newmaker Plane, which is the family of the letsplay guy who is recording this game. Well that all, but I think tht was all in vain, because it will get lost in the comments.
28:30 later Paul says he gets his rights and lefts mixed up so I think when he says right he means the left object, not the tweezers, dont know if you went over this in later videos, I might be wrong, just food for thought
Has nobody considered that "Petscop" is actually "Pets Cop", perhaps the "s" in "Pets" seems out of place, but it describes the protagonists rule in the game pretty accurately, seeing as you're collecting pets. I feel like the name, among other things in this video, is pretty overanalyzed.
Looking back at Petscop, it really is unfortunate how non-existent the ending was. There are too many loose threads without enough information to solve the mystery yourself. It isn't good writing to just end without answering ANY questions.
i think it's fitting if you consider that the videos on the channel are the recordings that the family took. no more recordings means that paul and belle succeeded in cutting themselves off from the family and not giving into them anymore. paul didn't want to keep doing it after petscop 10 but they forced him to so the ending to me means that they are free now and in the epilogue at the end of the ost video belle says that they will investigate it together. the rest of the story isnt for us as the audience or for the family to see.
I don't know if anyone else has noticed the shape of "Tool". It either resembles a cartoonish soda bottle or a musical instrument from the strings section. I don't know if those have any relevance but I hope it's food for thought.
Four minuets in and I already subscribed. This is my first experience with this channel and needless to say I have enjoyed it extremely. I came across this channel the same way I came across the whole Petscop phenomena, Im sure ill enjoy the rest of your videos the same way. Its a breath of fresh air listening to well thought out analysis in a serious manner. Thanks for putting this great piece of work together.
One thing that probably won't relate to the story of Petscop but is interesting to think about is how were these videos made? Did the guy design an entire game to make it or is it animated somehow.
Someone in the subreddit speculated that Petscop was designed w/ a game engine called unity. I can't attest to that as I don't really have knowledge of the field, but just thought I'd throw that out there.
I have friends that work on games and animation and have some knowledge about those subjects myself, and what we could gather is that Petscop was made as a playable game in an engine presumably, however certain aspects of the game may have been edited in. For example all the scenes of Paul playing and moving around are authentic and are him playing a game, however some menu's may have been animations or well made images edited in the video. The most glaring example I can think of is if you look at the loading screen in the opening of the game in the first video. The loading screens 3D models show a different style to the games look and overall feels very different to the in-game animation and quality of image. But that's just our opinion, it has been suggested on the subreddit a lot that the game may be released to the public (if it really is a fully playable game) when Petscop is done, but this is unlikely.
That makes a lot of sense. How hard do you think it would be to make a game like this? Like, could this be done by one guy in a month, or is it feasibly a team of people?
My friends who have worked with Unity (might be Unreal engine, I can't remember) have said that the game would be fairly simple technically, since its just a 2d walking animation and interacting with objects. They have said however that if it is a real game that the creator is most likely making it situational and that means that each video (if its being made video by video) has to be st up to do what he wants it to do, in other words its less like he's playing a fully made game and more like hes interacting with a set of prompts he set up before off-screen in a game engine. The high quality in the games look alone (making it look like a ps1 game is a fairly hard feat artistically) makes it likely that a team of people is behind it or that its been set up well for a long time. If your question is referring to why its taking so long for the next video to come up I personally don't think its for technical reasons like setting up for a new video or developing the game more. I think that the creator is waiting for a reason and that the changes to the channel picture and description indicate this.
Moonie I'm more wondering how big of a project this is. It'd give insight as to how elaborate the series is/will be. it seems like a lot of stuff like this is made by one or maybe two dedicated people, I feel like a whole team might imply there's a lot more to come and it goes deep
Re-watching the series from the beginning because I dropped somewhere in the middle of a year ago and didn't remember a thing. This intro music still give me the creeps...
It’s not the tweezers on the right he can’t identify, it’s the TOOL on the left because he mixes up his right from his left. Which wasn’t something we knew yet.
i kind of wish that this game never existed... it scares me for some reason. but its so interesting and mysterious. Im glad that you're analyzing and shedding some light on this mystery.

After further investigation, I have come to the conclusion that it is in fact a dead kid.

I figured it was just called petscop like "Pets-Cop" as in you capture pets like cops capture criminals. With the pets being seen as misbehaving like criminals. And I say misbehaving as in they are running away from their would-be captor, you; not that I blame them for running away from whatever the protagonist is.
Ditto. Pets-cop
Newborn, huh? Well if the Candice Newmaker theory is correct, that would make a lot of sense.
You wont make it no matter how hard you try."
Most of all, the Pet Shop comparison truly works for me.
The system is overworked and outdated, and the "child library" really works to show how "depersonalized" caring for these hurt kids has become, including the little "drop-off chute" Paul ends up putting the Care he found into
I'm always shocked at how little the adoption/foster care angle is looked at in petscop, because for me, it was extremely clear from the first few signs Paul reads/looks at.

That's what I thought the first time I saw it
He loves me, he loves me not, he loves me...
That also makes sense with the quote in Petscop 3, “I wonder what child you will chose next.” Creepy...
I thought the same too! Especially since the creepy note itself further on seems to allude that Care was emotionally and sexually abused by someone. The " isn't growing eyebrows" ,"excited", thinking of her "in the bathtub" - yikes
I wish Paul would've gone down to check on her first before plucking the flower - I have a good hunch that she might have been in State A - and then after all the plucking (the abuse) she went down all the way pass NLM
Dang thats scary
I think the part where Paul's feet vanish briefly is just a random grass object. You can see a more clear example on the patch of grass where Randice and Wavey are caught.
You could be right! I just thought it was weird.
Thank you for not putting on any big jumpscares or overkill suspense music, I really want to learn about things like these but I get freaked out pretty easily. Great video!

Btw the tool is called an ice pick, or an awl. They have several uses, including breaking ice and tuning a piano. Pianos are important in Petscop.
Indeed, that story was one of the juicier parts of the game (at least in the beginning), and no-one really seems to touch upon it.

Thanks! That's really nice of you.
No problem!
(Also, sorry about posting this video on the subreddit before you. Guess I probably should've let you do it, since you did say in this video that you knew about the sub.)
+Penrose Are you kidding? Dont apologize! I just posted it on there because i figured it wouldn't be on anyone's radar yet. Thank you for sharing it!
Oh, haha! That's cool then, thanks!
Hey, thanks! That's nice of you to say.
The note in care's room is so bone chilling, i don't know what it is about it but it always gives me chills

Oh hi Ten Hun! It makes sense that you'd like stuff like petscop!
Hey thanks for actually adding subtitles and not letting CZcamss shitty audio subtitles try to transcribe the video. Appreciate it.
Also, I did notice the feet dissapearing. But when you watch further you notice that any time he is on grass, there are these 2D planes of grass scattered around that make it look like he is walking behind the grass and not just on top of it. I'm pretty sure this is just game design but perhaps it has more meaning.
i just want to say that ive seen this entire series about 5 times now because its so interesting and well done. thank you.
Yes! Watching for the second time right now, personally. I used to have these run in the background while playing Xbox. Perfect for my ADHD ass 😭

It's not a creepypasta cause those don't exist. It's an ARG
More like *Amber alert* am I right lad
That's the joke deal with it
This also fits in with the themes of child abuse by their parents that are littered through the series.

Thank you for introducing me to Petscop! I hadn't heard of it before, and went and watched the entire series after the first minute of this video. It is most entirely up my alley, and made my day. :)
I'm going to have to go over Optimality Theory a few more times, I think.
The biggest mystery is, why hasn't Paul caught Roneth yet?
I've not been feeling too well, and I just knew I had to rewatch this series and get a good dose of **clap: footnote** to lift my spirits.

Newmaker theories have nothing to do with Petscop and should not be followed

shadowclock13 Might have to wait 6 months to find out if Paul goes back for Care :((((
merry christmas
Returning to this playlist again 😭 So much nostalgia I was so obsessed with these videos
Looking back at Petscop, it really is unfortunate how non-existent the ending was. There are too many loose threads without enough information to solve the mystery yourself. It isn't good writing to just end without answering ANY questions.
i think it's fitting if you consider that the videos on the channel are the recordings that the family took. no more recordings means that paul and belle succeeded in cutting themselves off from the family and not giving into them anymore. paul didn't want to keep doing it after petscop 10 but they forced him to so the ending to me means that they are free now and in the epilogue at the end of the ost video belle says that they will investigate it together. the rest of the story isnt for us as the audience or for the family to see.
im really late but, this series was highly recomended and now i see why
This man would make a fantastic lawyer
Holy. Shit. This is extensive.
I'm incredibly impressed. You got a subscriber.
I like the sound when the main character collects the little gift thingies. It sounds nice. I want a 10 hour loop of nothing but that
I don't know if anyone else has noticed the shape of "Tool". It either resembles a cartoonish soda bottle or a musical instrument from the strings section. I don't know if those have any relevance but I hope it's food for thought.
Or a fountain pen.
I GOT AN AMBER ALERT 20 MINUTES AFTER HE MENTIONED IT............my phone rang with an alarm....my heart sunk
Pretty sure the "fluttering triangle" is just a product of the imitation deinterlacing filter on narrow lines
Still watching after 6 years❤
going back through these still gives me anxiety jesus christ
Probably the best analysis committed to video thus far, great work! Looking forward to more.
Outstanding job commentating on this and putting it together!
Awesome video, my friend. ❤️ You have original talent and creativity!!
Its amazing
It’s not the tweezers on the right he can’t identify, it’s the TOOL on the left because he mixes up his right from his left. Which wasn’t something we knew yet.
i kind of wish that this game never existed... it scares me for some reason. but its so interesting and mysterious. Im glad that you're analyzing and shedding some light on this mystery.
awesome video and nice jingles, I found the intro song stuck in my head every now and again from a few years back. good job, I hope your future video endeavors serve you well
