    6/15/24 I purchased a Black Cherry 1990 Eagle Talon base mode in 1990, 5 speed, standard engine to replace my Pontiac Sunbird car. My Talon is now 34 years old with only 18,500 miles , in 2023 I had to replace the fuel tanks fuel pump to get it to start, this year 2024 I just replaced all 4 disc breaks and pads and a tuneup, oil change, the rear truck lid supports. But due to hot and cold weather I need to fix the headliner due to sagging. Still the 1990 Talon is in very good shape with no rust and is now my daily Summer car driver. The base 1990 Talon model does not have air conditioning , no electric windows, no fog lights, no rear window wiper, lower body is same color as up body with a black top. In 1990 the Talon came in 3 versions with the top version had AWD and turbo.

    These cars hold a special spot in my heart that no other car can take. The first car I bought with my own hard earned money was a 91' TSi AWD in 98'. I was HOOKED! I have owned 8 of them over the years but have not had one in 20 years. If the day comes around that I find one that is nice and not very modded, I will suck it up! I love your attention to detail and you obvious knowledge of the car. Sub'ed.

    I had a similar issue on my 91 Talon but instead of lack of fuel it would just dump fuel non stop, run only a few seconds and shut-off, and make its way into crank case. Did some reading and trouble shooting and swapped out the ECU with a V3 ecu and she started and ran perfectly. Opened up the old ECU and yep it was toast from leaking capacitor. Glad you figured it out and the feeling of figuring an issue like this out is soo good. Subscribing to your channel.

    That's awesome. most people don't know when owning a DSM that common injectors issue is either with the ECU or the resistor

    • @SlippingTime
      @SlippingTime  Před rokem

      Yes. The resistor one really throws people for a loop when trying to figure it out. The ECU caps have stopped a lot of cars over time that is for sure. The capacitor replacement should be part of regular maintenance.

    I figured the fuel pump but didn't think the ecu would be bad too. I used muriatic acid on my fuel sending unit in the past with a spray bottle, it doesn't hurt painted surfaces and chews through rust rather quickly but you have to keep spraying in on every few minutes for a little while. I buy muriatic acid it at home hardware commercial stores its about $25 for a gallon, dont know if regina has them commercial stores but stoon does. Saved my butt on sending units and fender to bumper bolts etc, eats all the rust away on bolts and they come out like new.

    • @SlippingTime
      @SlippingTime  Před rokem +1

      I have a few thoughts on cleaning up this tank. Muriatic acid might be part of that concoction. Depends on how things look when I drain it. Home Hardware has an assortment of supplies I might pick up.

      @@SlippingTime From my experiments with muriatic acid it will not work when there's any type of oil present on a metal surface, it prevents any semblance of contact it seems between the acid and the metal. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

    My references show a different wiring for the 90 Power Transistor Module
    1=Yellow/Green Collector 1 (OC1) Coil A
    2=Yellow Base 1 (IB1) ECU pin 54
    3=Black Ground
    4=NC
    5=Yellow/Red Base 2 (IB2) ECU pin 55
    6=Yellow/Black Collector 2 (OC2) Coil B
    And a different wiring for the 91+ Power Transistor Module
    1=Yellow/Black Collector 1 (OC1) Coil B
    2=Yellow/Red Base 1 (IB1) ECU pin 55
    3=Black Ground
    4=NC
    5=White Tach Gate output ECU pin 109 and Gauge Cluster
    6=Black/White +12 IG1 (Switched Battery Voltage)
    7=Yellow Base 2 (IB2) ECU pin 54
    8=Yellow/Green Collector 2 (OC2) Coil A
    You'll note that the wire colors match but they switched which of the two transistors was used in the PTM.
    The 90 gauge cluster is driven from the output of the noise filter. You need to retain it unless you swap to the later cluster. It should be bolted to the intake manifold somewhere.
    The 91+ ECU should now get it's tach signal from pin 5 of the 91+ PTM.
    Please its this correct i whant to change The ecu with 1994 1g and The power tr 6pin to 8 pin power tr 1g 1994

It's seems really hard to find the oem ones and I don't know how LED ones would work. Out of everything I worked on DSMs I find it baffling how little information there is relating this. WOW! That's a lot of rust on that sending unit lol. Random question - have you ever considered picking up a 3000gt/stealth as a project? I own one and so far, a lot of the components look identical so the talon (eg. the whole fuel pump assembly, fuel pump tester, etc), which means I'm sure you won't have too hard of a time working on them.

      Get some tools lol. Seriously though that is a tough question to answer for someone. If it makes sense for your situation and what you want then keep doing your research like you are to make an informed decision. Just remember all cars need some funds to keep them on the road generally so plan for that too.
      If it is a dream car for you then planning can make it happen.
