    Tata is a business empire with a heart. The group trasformed lives of an entrie generation of Indians when they started their steel plant in Jamshedpur. The city is called now "Tatanagar".

    As world citizen I'm not worth my salt if I'm not even inclined to investing in the TATAs who, of all, spend 66% of ethically earned profit in charity. Name the close second with over 350 billion dollar investment worldwide.

    They don't give 66% profit to charity. They have given 66% of their ownership shares to charity organization. So basically the charitable organizations are now the owners of the entire conglomerate, which is unheard of in any other multinational business group in the world.

    Alex, it was not the coffee brand called Gap, but the coffee machine maker Gap. Secod, Tata is 60% owned by Tata Trust, and the res by Institutional and individual shareholders. It’s not that Tata gives 60% of It’s profits to charity, though they do a lot of social work and cummunity help.

    TATA gives the largest portion of the share to charity (66%) which is why he is not among the top 3 richest people in the world. No other companies are close to them in terms of charity.
