I have been listening to new Michael Schenker box set and can report that the care done with the packaging and especially the remastering are top notch! Though not on your list, i just received via Amazon Rod Stewart's "Every Picture Tells a Story" on SHM-MQA HQ cd and Yes's "Tales From Topographic Oceans" also on SHM-MQA HQ cd. Both of these releases sound exceptionally good/excellent. Thank you again for your "What i have been listening to..." post as it entertained/educated me for 18+ minutes while I lay in recovery waiting for my hospital room after total left hip replacement surgery. Cheers!!

Too true: the Sensational Alex Harvey band were sensational. That that album should have been a double. As you say, what a band. Today only bassist Chris Glenn and guitarist Zal Cleminson survive.
Also recommended: the band's 'Fourplay', which was minus Alex. Great tunes, great playing, great production. And a great back cover photo. A must have for any and all SAHB fans.

Absolutely loved the video Phil, you made me just want to take out Master Of Reality and wake up the street hahaha. I just love your enthusiasm for individual albums, and music in general, love it. I think the reason i enjoy your channel so much is because we're both from the same time, the 70's, the same age, and with much the same taste. It's so true what you said about albums you bought at the time, it's the connection and the memories that make them so special. Nearly every album i own has a story connected to it, signifying a moment in my life. I can take out an album and i probably can tell you where i was living at the time and what might have been going on in my life at that time whither good or bad. This week i have been listening to Status Quo live from Dublin 02 Arena, Iron Maiden's Dance of Death, Jon Anderson's second solo album which i picked up in a charity shop. My recent music purchases tend to be a lot of album reissues, box sets, albums i had on vinyl or cassette years ago which have worn out disappeared or whatever, plus albums i missed at the time or never had at all. I find it difficult to really find new bands or music that is like nothing I've ever heard before, music that when you hear it for the first time gives you goosebumps followed by... FUCKING HELL, WOW ! like the first time i heard Judas Priests Sad Wings Of Destiny, the afore mentioned Master Of Reality, Close To The Edge, when was the last time you got that feeling, if like me it was probably a long time ago. Two bands which have caught my attention in the last couple of years are 'The Paradise Twin' and ' Riverside ' they're not overly different but there is just something about their music that grabs me, the rest doesn't. I also have to be picky about what i buy now, especially vinyl, guess why ? Cause I've no fucking room hahaha. Anyway, keep your videos coming Phil, i enjoy them immensely, take care.

“Sommargryningsljus” by Kaipa and “Stranger Skies” by Ellesmere which are for me right now my favourite albums of 2024 that I have heard so far. The title track of “Stranger Skies” takes me to extraordinary depths of enjoyment and features some terrific flute playing by John Hackett.

Finished collecting Saigon Kick on CD. Just got their self titled CD thru eBay. They came out in 1991 & had such a unique sound & feeling as opposed to the other hard rock/metal bands that were already out there.
Of course - their most famous song is Love is on the Way from their 2nd CD - The Lizard. But that song doesn't even scratch the surface of their musical genius.
Their 3rd CD - they split with their lead singer & the lead guitarist took over singing duties. They do a great cover of Space Oddity by Bowie on their 3rd CD titled Water.
Their 4th CD - they continued their unique sound.
The only CD of theirs I don't have is their last album titled Bastards. That one is extremely hard to come by.
But if you want a great band whose musical style is very eclectic - Saigon Kick is a great band to listen too!

Been listening to Jon Savage's (excellent) compilations: The Secret Public 1955-1979, Welcome to Techno City 1983-1985, The Art of Things to Come 1980-1982. These comps are so good if you (like me) are trying to widen your perspectives on music I either didn't know about at the time or steered clear of (maybe cause it wasn't "rock" enough). Also, Jon Savage's books come highly recommended from me.

Phil, Interesting playlist ! I found myself enjoying something very different and new for me, Big Audio Dynamite (B.A.D.), formed by ex-Clash guitarist Mick Jones and film director Don Letts in 1984. Someone on your FaceBook group mentioned them, and I gave them a listen on CZcams. Their sound combo of reggae, hip-hop, punk rock, funk and dance music have a hold on my ears, purchased 3 of their cd's !!! Also, finally purchased those poly sleeves you talked about before. You were spot on about space saving and ease of use. All the best from the U.S.A.
