  • On this video we share how we are using food we raised on our farm for Thanksgiving. We are making everything from scratch keeping life simple and frugal. Life is very busy this time of year on the farm so we chose to "make do with what we had". No packages or expensive ingredients. Actually we didn't even have a large grocery haul in preparation for Thanksgiving. A wonderful family Thanksgiving can be had with just a few simple dishes.
    God Bless,
    Caren

I am so thankful for this video. You spoke exactly what is in my heart. It’s hard to imagine doing anything extra. We try to eat mostly from our little farm. Our 25 guests will be treated to a couple of our heritage breed turkeys. We may not roast them like others are used to but I know the turkey will be good. I’ll be using fresh milled corn for our cornbread too. I feel more comfortable changing up the same old menu and making it more to our whole food lifestyle. I have even used our own honey for our cranberry sauce. You have helped me decide to be happy to share our homegrown thanksgiving with our guests. Thank you!

I love that you are inspired by your husband's upbringing. The skills you have shared are truly something we need to pass on to newer generations as they will be essential to know one day. Your videos are so inspirational for me! Although these skills take longer in our modern world, they are well worth learning and doing.

Thank you so much! I aspire to learn skills from 1883 and know they will be useful one day. I am so happy to see some interest in the younger generation in learning homesteading skills.
