Enjoying your excellent content. Gets better with each video. Just one piece of constructive criticism. Please stop using the dishonest/deceptive clickbait thumbnails. (DON'T TRAVEL TO VIETNAM). That old trick is for amateurs who only think about short term clicks. Your channel will grow organically with your awesome content. Don't risk damaging the trust you have built with your loyal viewers and subscribers.

About the Beer, 80% of the time they'll served you the cold one. For the other 20%, just ask them to change it for you or ask for a bucket of ice to chill it yourself, have one with the ice to wait for the rest to chill :)) We use a lot of ice here in Vietnam because of the weather, the beer won't stay cold for long so ice is the way to go. For most of the soft drinks, they're very sweet and needed to be diluted by the ice, so don't drink it out of the can/bottle.

Now, there is aircon restaurants everywhere. Having said that, happy for the country itself that it's developing. The war did put VN many many years back in development.

As long as Vietnam is still ruled by the oppressive and exploitive Communist regime, her potential remains greatly diminished. For any 1% that wants to stay, 99% of the population wants to get out, and many have risked their lives doing just that (for example, 39 doomed lives found in UK container truck recently on the news, and that's only what's been reported), unfortunately. Yet another shocking and also recent example is that during the Covid pandemic when almost all countries assisted their citizens with financial aids in one form or another, the corrupt and murderous Vietnamese Commie regime saw it just another opportunity not to help but to exploit its ruled citizens even more, essentially making money over the corpses of its citizens by presumably killing at least 30K of them, due to misdiagnosis and being and cramped into barbwired unhygenic living quarters for isolations, so that they had to sleep on the concrete floors, with inadequate food, water, or medicine, like animals, with the fake nostril Covid test kits, mislabeled as approved by World Health Organization (WHO) in Việt Á scandal, colluded by at least 4 different government agencies (Y Tế , Khoa Học, Công Nghệ, Quân y) and the top Politburo members, including Nguyễn Phú Trọng, Phạm Minh Chính, Nguyễn Xuân Phúc. Murderous Vietnamese Commie regime even had a thug murdered Christian pastor Giuse Trần Ngọc Thanh, like it has done with many other pastors across the nation. There is a reason why the current Commie Vietnam ranks at the bottom of the world in freedom of speech and freedom of the press, barely above Commie China and Commie North Korea. Similarly, its passport ranks at the bottom, 89th out of 111 countries for a reason, barely above North Koea 104th rank. even below many African nations. For comparison, South Korea 2nd rank. That's what Republic of South Vietnam would have likely been ranked among at least the top 10 had it not been invaded and occupied by the North Vietnamese Commie terrorists, aided by Commie Soviet and Commie China.
Travelers to Vietnam in her current form (not at all like this before the Communists took over) should keep this in mind. Behind the beauty of the land and smiling faces at popular tourist destinations, there are a lot of darkness and sorrow, horror, and sufferings all over the country.

Due to the northern accent, "yum" is totally fine in the north because it is not close to any Vietnamese words spoken with the northern accent. In the southern accent it does sound like the Vietnamese word for horny.

I'm surprised by what you're surprised by. Vietnam, like much of SE Asia is in fact, quite rural. But they also have big, gleaming cities. It's both. Have you never been to Manila, Jakarta, KL, etc etc?? And you're shocked they drive on the right? Much of Asia does. Also, this may sound like a semantic distinction, but these cities are modernized, not "westernized." Changing that perspective can help to understand these cultures better.

Hi Lloyd and Mandy, our next trip to SE Asia is Vietnam and this video was great. I'm a meticulous planner when we go overseas and this was very helpful. One question; does it not worry you to have the ice in your beer? We usually don't eat anything washed in water or have ice in drinks when in Asia. A couple of previous crook gut incidents have made us more wary.

Also ask if your drink is hot or cold without ice , got caught off guard when I order a peach drink and it was hot without ice . Last expect half a drink without ice maybe less lol.

This brings up an important activity travelers should always do before venturing to a new country. One should read up on that country's history. Not only will it make the trip far more interesting and relatable, but that knowledge could prevent possible embarrassing and/or insulting interactions with the locals.

The French influence in VN is now limited to the architecture of some old buildings like churches , post offices , opera houses , villas , etc... But the French language is no longer as important as before . Nowadays , the young generation prefers to learn English , Korean or Japanese . Only a few old-timers are still fluent in French . Today there is a sentence that the Vietnamese like say : l`Anglais est la langue de l`avenir et le Français est la langue du souvenir . ( I hope that Mandy who is Canadian could understand what it means ) . Also maybe , you didn`t have enough time to check-out the other beautiful areas of VN , you didn`t mention that besides Ha Long Bay , VN has the most gorgeous and stunning landscapes in SEA , such as Ha Giang loop , Mu Cang Chai rice terraces , Ninh Binh , Phong Nha Ke Bang national park ( nicknamed the cave kingdom ) where is located the biggest and largest cave in the world Son Doong and over 300 other stunning caves forming a huge cave system in VN , Cuc Phuong and Cat Tiên national parks , Phu Quoc Islands with the longest over the sea cable car in the world ( 8 km long and 27 minute ride ) , Con Dao islands , Ban Gioc waterfalls , the Central Highlands ( the land of tea and coffee plantations ) , the ecosystem mangrove forests in Cân Gio and Ca Mau recognized by the UNESCO as one of the most important in the world , Bach Long bridge , the longest glass bridge in the world ( about 655 m long ) in Moc Châu ( Son La province ) and much more interesting sites . To discover all what VN is offering to tourists , you have to spend at least 4 to 6 months there .
Thank you for coming to our country , hope to see you back in a near future

In the cities, the traffic-the thousands and thousands of mopeds. The people are most kind and gracious. The food rivals the best in the world-a spectacular, year-round variety of fresh fruits and vegetables and sea food that just doesn't quit. And, rural Vietnam is beautiful.

Any honest Vietnamese friends would give you a fair warning though. Freshly made food is only good if it's not contaminated. Otherwise, you would just end up with freshly made contaminated food. Quality control of food in Commie Vietnam is dubious at best and deadly at worse, even when grown organically. Plenty of agricultural products in Commie Vietnam were grown with unchecked fertilizer and even human wastes. Food exports from Commie Vietnam were routinely banned in many European countries and US for high levels of embedded contaminants. Those rejected exported foods were then sold in Vietnam to consumers. Many fruits in Vietnam were actually imported from Commie China with low quality control, including those rejected by Chinese food standard board. All true. Please do your research. Here's a few clues to get you on the right direction: "EU cảnh báo mỳ ăn liền Việt Nam chứa ethylene oxide vượt ngưỡng", "Catfish from Vietnam recalled for lack of reinspection". Tons more if keep searching. There is a reason why "Vietnam among countries with highest cancer rates globally". The article just came out today, so that's the most updated info one can get. But here's another article from last year "Vietnam position worsens on global cancer map: report". But it's not only the food to be blamed but also the air and water pollution. Search "Air pollution is Vietnam’s silent killer" or "Hanoi the most polluted city in Southeast Asia". Heavily contaminated food and water and deadly air pollution all contribute to the high morbidity and mortality rate in Commie Vietnam, unfortunately.

Most of the public buildings and many residential buildings in Saigon, Hanoi and particularly in Dalat are largely French influenced, and the way the Vietnamese do daily like driving is a lot more American influenced, but the traditions and culture like ancestor worship remain predominantly Vietnamese in their families and society.

That’s why I had the idea that everyone should spend at least two weeks in another country; to see how other people live around the world, to experience the culture and how their lives differ.
The French, English and Spanish all had colonies in Asia spreading their influence in the past. The first time I landed in Saigon and went to what WAS the piece of land where my grandparents(mother’s side) lived, all the stories I heard it sounded rural with lots of trees. I was surprised that the area was so developed that the house is now buried deep in the middle of an alleyway, no trees at all and there is a really stinky river nearby. I would loved to have seen the area when my mother lived their back in the late 50s and 60s.

Vietnam is very smart to keep main cities looking good for sure for the tourism but past that its for show
Saigon for example, if you move to District 4,5,8, or even 12 they are land fills, everything is falling apart its just err its bad
But you get to district 1,2,3, 7, or even Go Vap you'll see a "Modern" look most buildings don't last past 10 years and the chaos follows from the poor to rich areas sadly.
If you take away the iPhones and TVs Vietnam really is just farm land, not a bad thing at all..but this proclaim I see so much that Vietnam is so developed is just insane. @@ShadyD365 It's rumoured that starting from Sept they will reissue 90 days visa, guess we have to wait and see.
For now, most people just do a 1 day visa run, to Laos and back, that way you can get another tourist visa and it's quite cheap.

Hey guys, enjoying the videos and happy that you'll are living your dreams. The new camera is nicer video and audio for sure. However, the focus appears to be a bit slow while you panning across a variety of foods. A little frustrating when I'm trying to identify individual items or read labels. Keep up the adventure and great work. Cheers.

I wish I knew more about Danang before traveling there. As far as prices, I had a super affordable ocean view hotel room. The hotel staff were excellent and recommended private drivers to take me around to see the sights. It was worth it since I don't like all-day bus tours. What I didn't like is the food selection in the beach area. There was nothing but those overpriced seafood tank restaurants. I love seafood but I'm not going to pay $100 USD for a lobster. Another thing that I was not prepared for was how the entire Vietnamese family including grandma and grandpa go on vacation together. They hit the beach at sunrise because they don't like to be in the sun during midday. The hotel lobby was constantly noisy with kids running around while the whole family was waiting to check-in to their room. Oh and the whole family stay in one room to save on cost.

Dear Mandy and Lloyd, I would urge you both to do more research before you visit different countries. Being surprised that cities are “developed” in Vietnam is quite patronizing (and upset me a lot when I heard it!) and knowing nothing about Vietnam’s colonial past is inexcusable for people who are posting travel content. You both can do better.
