We have a yellow headed Amazon, Lorenzo, who has been in our family for 62 years. My grandpa brought him back from Columbia as a gift to my grandma when my mother was a child. He has now lived with 4 generations of our family.

Josee is a very chill bird indeed. I have a female Yellow Nape Amazon that’s 34 now. She’s very chatty and has a sizable vocabulary. She asks for head and neck scratches through the cage bars but that’s all I can do with her, as she doesn’t allow any kind of approach when she’s out of the cage. Oh, well…. I love her, anyway.
She is so cute with you! How she tilts her head and listens so intently when you speak of her! She is beautiful! She seems so absolutely comfortable and relax with you, even scooting closer and leaning into you! You must be her favorite woman! Her sneeze was SO CUTE!
My 2 year yellow naped is a wrecking ball in comparison. On my shoulder only long enough to find something to chew. And sunrise, sunset, attention demanding squawks are crazy loud

I have a female amazon. I really think because of Josee's demeanor she is female. I hope you keep her❤
My yellow naped amazon just passed away & im crushed! Got him when he was 5. He picked me. Had him over 20 yrs. Yes, Moemoe was a big bird too. He came with a few words..he would figure out how to put sentences together. He had a really big vocabulary by the time he passed. Sanctuaries wont adopt out to people over 2 hrs away & we live rural. 😢 He was my baby.
try calling and letting them know ur circumstances maybe if you took a ride a few times they might be willing to work with you
we only have 2 in our state and only 1 adopts out and not if u live in a condo or apartment and we live in an apartment so we couldn't rescue so we ended up getting a CAG from a pet store abd unexpectedly about 4 months later we ended up doing a private rescue rehome with we think close to 30 BNG that was never handled nor let out if cage but at about having her almost 2 years I finally picked her up first time

Hi Marlene, this was a great way to learn more about Josee, she really does seem laid back, and it was cute watching her lean into you as you spoke about her. Yes, please do a DNA test, however I think you are correct. I hope you and (is your brothers name Rob?) keep her, she seems really content. Can't wait to see the new bird room and what the birds feel about it too! Always good to see you, and you look great (just so ya know,lol). Thanks for the vlog!

Marlene, what a sweet older bird Josee is and she does seem to like you. It is really cool she gets to spend time at your brother's house. Is there any way your bird sitter Ti (spelling?) could or would be able to adopt her? I know sometimes it is a huge commitment and not all living situations allow for big birds. But she is a sweet and mellow and (so far?) a fairly quiet bird. I have always loved Amazons and I remember one named George my next door neighbor had who was quite fond of me. Turned out to be a female, but she definitely knew who she liked! She flew down to first floor and chased a female neighbor. Bit her toes (toenails were painted red) and rhe bird laughed uproariously at the screams. Maybe territorial because I was talking to this neighbor. 😊 I know--not funny for the lady, but it was hard to be serious at the time. George loved to chew wood and had made a mess of the handrailing at this apartment! Imagine the guy moving out and what they might charge him for the damage! Another reality of parrots, especially active young ones. 😮😢

My cockatiels always get jealous when I give Babybird scratches, Weeble (who doesn't let me pet him) will rush over and put his head down & if I don't pet him he will nibble at Babybirds toes. I have had them both for 2 1/2 yrs. Babybird is definitely bonded to me. Had him since he was a baby eating formula and Weeble I got from a breeder at 4 months old & he is not as friendly.

The owner in her video said he says pit bull but she didn't know we're she'd heard it from wish I lived in America I'd loved to have given him her a home I have a lorrikeet I have had her from 12 weeks old she is now 3 years old id love an amazon I pray she finds an amazing home
Are yellow napes relatively calm compared to double yellow heads and blue crowns? They have always intrigued me but have only really been around double yellow heads and blue crowns. And they can be intense!
She seems really comfortable/content on your shoulder, though. Awwe, definitely a female with her male love.
My blue-headed Pionus smells so good. I was surprised to learn that Pionus parrots can smell similar to Amazon parrots.

Yes I would like to know the sex, I would also like to mention she or he sure seems to like you, hope you find the perfect forever home, she really seems to be relaxed on you and your a girl, lol very pretty amazon although she is the largest amazon I've seen! She is beautiful. Definitely a big girl for sure! Is she always so calm and sleepy? It almost looked like she was falling asleep on you. Would be fun to do a DNA gender reveal. Has she had a vet check recently? Sometimes they can feel the pelvic bones during the exam and get an idea of sex too. I hope you find her a great home, she seems like a sweetheart.
