Amazon Parrots 🩜: Do They Make Great Talking, Cuddly Pets?

  • You know, they do. They really do!
    Any exceptions aside, Amazon parrots are people-oriented. They are charsmatic, energetic, funny and playful; they talk - some sing - and even learn the context of words so that they aren't just "parroting" them back to you.
    Best of all, they are affectionate. Amazon parrots click and purr when they are happiest, which is often when you are cuddling, petting them or doing something special with them.

    They are hilarious and make great family member addition, they love attention and people and have different characters toward different people. Mine loves company and gets more happier when we have guests over, but sometimes he has a bad attitude and attacks people that he doesn't like and only allows me to pet his paws and chest although still bites me once in a while. I Love him!!! You got to watch him or he will destroy your stuff chewing on it.

      I always hear that people LOVE their Amazon, but that the Amazon only likes 1 person. So lucky, so glad your Zon likes your son! And the diet
 I know, parrots are good at making you feel like they won’t eat anything if you don’t give them what they want. however, you can insist
 I don’t think human food is bad, as long as your Zon does not get meat (I know, loves it) or processed foods and ‘bad’ oils. It’s worth trying to at least modify his/her diet :)

    I’ve been reading so much on the Mexican Red Headed Amazons for a few years now. It appears they are calmer than the “hot 3” I been reading about. I finally have a chance to get a baby that is being handfed. There are 2 extremely young babies. One has a vibrant red head and one seems a bit more dull red head. I just bought your Bliss Bond audio book yesterday. I want to be sure I can get through the hormonal stage. What are your thoughts on getting this baby? Is it still highly likely he will get aggressive eventually and bite me hard and continue to do this for a long time?

    • @ParrotBliss
      @ParrotBliss  Pƙed rokem +2

      @@peppytheecky1703 here’s the thing, since I’m not an avian vet, I don’t really understand why his poops are so frequent and so liquid. What I have learned is that that’s not how parent poops should be. Of course, I don’t know if there can be exceptions. For that reason, if I were you, I would get him checked out. Liquid poops are supposed to be diarrhea. I would also remove fruits from his diet. I think that may contribute, not sure. In any case, you are probably buying and giving him right fruit, which is high in Fritos and may contribute to this. so, I would definitely take my Amazon to the vet. You may be able to have your vet look at the droppings, and your vet may say it’s fine, which would be an inexpensive vet visit. Just the office call. Then you would have peace of mind.
