I don't understand why we don't target players who are position wise flexible. We missed out on Timber (can play as CB, RB, LB, WCB in back 3 and CDM), Pavard (CB, WCB, RB), Gakpo (ST, SS, LW, LM, RW). Buying such players just elevates the quality of the squad. When we have injuries, then such players are almost equivalent to 2 players and on top of that, having such types enhances the tactical flexibility of the manager. Look at Man City, apart from Haaland, Dias and the GKs, everyone can play 2 positions atleast. Not all players, but many Arsenal and Liverpool players also have this capability.
In our squad, Martinez (CB, LB, CDM), Dalot (RB, LB, inverted FB), Mount (no.8, no. 10, LW, RW), Amad (RW, no.10) & Mainoo (no.6, no.8) are only such types of players (Yes, Rashford and Garnacho have played either wings but that doesn't count).
Physicality is a huge huge problem than we think. Maguire, Evans, McTominay, Casemiro, Amrabat, Hojlund are the only players who can try to compete and win an aerial or ground duel. But how many of them also have speed and technical prowess!?, only Hojlund. What about press resistant players!? Onana, Martinez, Mainoo, Mount (can do extremely well) & Bruno, Hojlund, Amad, Shaw and 2-3 more (are good to ok). These are basic technical stuff professional players have we are talking about!!
Easy to say the manager is the problem because it is easier to get rid of one than 9-10. I would say don't ruin De Zerbi's, Nagelsmann's, Motta's or any other manager's reputation because their tactical ideas won't work with this set of players, trust me, IT WON'T!! Sacking the manager isn't the solution, OVERHAUL IS!!!

I agree with you but Ten Hag make some mistakes too.When you have 9 midfielders at the start of the season and only 2 strikers one injured or don’t perform that is a mistake.When you have Eriksen available and he is not playing when you saw that our midfield was one the best last season with Casemiro I don’t understand… If Casemiro need a rest or is injured than play Mainoo as a 6… and Eriksen/Mount 8… Bruno need a rest too at some time in the season like Rashford needed a rest.When you play Premier League football+CUPs+ Champions League football you need all your squad,when players are injured you need to rotate maybe less but still rotate to not injure other players.That is my opinion

Honestly I don’t think we are this far from Liverpool Arsenal and City REALLY !! With all the injuries we had this year MY GOD !! Half the squad were injured at a moment,Lisandro,Shaw,AWB,Varane,Mount,Casemiro,Hojlund,Rashford,Antony etc + Sancho’s problem,Greenwood’s problem before the season etc HONESTLY IT CAN’T BE A WORSE SEASON THAN THIS ONE.If we get the right players this summer with the right mentality and a good preparation without a lot of injuries United will finish top 3-4 next season for sure.Lisandro-Varane-Casemiro were a big part last season+Mainoo and Garnacho already playing a part I think in the next few years this team will shine and win some trophies,Maybe the CUP this year who knows… Hopefully

We should have signed Taremi on a free for the summer. It's mad we need Midfielders and forwards and could have had Kamara, Tielemens, Thuram and Taremi for free, then splash out on your defence and another wide forward, lovely stuff. Instead we'll scrape around and be desperate

Bakayoko, is very good indeed, but I read that his price tag will also be about 50m and PSG are in for him, so that kinda ruins it...
Would like Welbeck too, still good enough to have in the squad, free, MU hearted and can help develop Hojlund.
Guirassy has a release clause of only 20m, so if he wants to come, it's a no-brainer imo.
Branthwaite would have been great, but too expensive. For that kind of money Yoro is better imo.
Adarabioyo for free would be a swoop and a must-do, but not first team probably.
I'd like Nico Schlotterbeck, he would be my first choice together with Todibo. Good other options could be Scalvini, Boscagli or Itakura
If we spend big on one, then Neves imo. Best CDM. But not realistic. There's many good other options though imo:

Finally I would love to get Orkun Kokcu, but that would mean benching both Bruno and Mount I guess...

I'm a big fan of looking for some transfer free options and cheap unknown players. That way we can spend a bit more lavishly on our priority signings.
It's a process it's not gonna happen all in one summer transfer window but slowly slowly we can get back up to the top level challenging for titles and champion leagues

Sick and tired of hearing it, INEOS don't own enough of the club and we have massive debts. Basically relying on the government at this point to build us the stadium. Even worse at this rate there is going to be an inevitable decline in revenues nobody is talking about when the next generation could give 2 shits about our meme club and support City instead.

I'd have Todibo too but Calafiori instead of Lucumi. I'm torn between Ederson and Koopmeiners of Atalanta for CDM as Koopmeiners originally started out as CDM but plays more attacking role now and I like the versatility because of that. Olise is still a good shout for RW. I still like Martin Terrier of Rennes, had a great season last season, this season not as good however he's 27 y/o and I still see Hojlund as our main ST but Terrier will bring competition and is big in the box and probably won't cost much.
Tell you what, I'm sad about us not signing Marcel Sabitzer whilst we had the chance
In terms of wingers I believe , Nico Williams would do & Bakayoko can also come if we sell Rashford to PSG. It does not hurt having crrative wingers if we want to compete in multiple Comps
I think we need to consider a versatile striker that can maybe play on the wing as well, like RVP in his Arsenal days. Someone that can, on occasion, play with Hojlund would be more a much better use of funds. I also agree we will probably get priced out of a deal for Brandthwaite but, at the same time, I'm not sure who else has been linked with him. We may be his only suitors.
A bit left field but would anyone take tammy Abraham? Seems to be frozen out at Roma and has scored goals in the prem before. Really good hold up play and good finisher. Could potentially get him on loan then buy outright when we’ve sorted other positions. (Not watched the full vid yet so my bad if he’s been mentioned lol)
I would. Not a bad idea imo, probably reasonably priced, homegrown, and yes, versatile. Bit of a wildcard, but could pay off and its for back up.
my choice for right wing is Edon Zhegrova. elite dribbler and chance creator(technically and statistically more impressive than Olise) and most importantly available for a fraction you'd pay for Olise.
I think Girona is part owned by City Football Group so would they sell to United? Zirkzee sounds great also but Denkey is most realistic. Great show Sam! Keep it up!
For a striker I would go something like Solanke. Proven in the Premier League, goalscorer transfermarket around 35m. For a winger let's be honest if we don't sell Rashford (I don't want to) or Antony we cannot afford someone for a winger. I would like olise but a lot of ifs included.

I think Hojlund is good enough to start at striker if we get wingers to provide for him. So I'm happy to get Welbeck in for free and use Amad centrally as well from time to time. I think United need a right winger like Kubo and maybe a backup left winger because I think we should cash in on Rashford now.
Striker position Danny Welbeck (free agent, will not mind staying on the bench, will not compete with Hojland and allow him develop, knows and loved United, experienced)
Right winger - Mohammed Kudus (skillful, has pace, strong on and off the ball, takes on players, good on the cross and knows the EPL well)

Zirkzee offers something different than Hojlund in terms of deep lying creativity like a Benzema. If given the opportunity, having both of them in the team will be ideal for all situations.
Also Bakayoko will go for more than both Nico and Olise

Frimpong ain't goin anywhere, he just won the bundesliga, will no doubt be offered a better contract and has one of the best upcoming managers in world football at the helm, champions league football also next year, he'd be mad to leave

Andre yea is completely unproven, but United unlikely to afford Amadou Onana as well as either a top centre back or half decent striker. I think it's a very reasonable suggestion. Amad Diallo can play all along the midfield. Garnacho and Diallo can create goals for themselves aswell as teammates.
United should go get Dovbyk & Ollie watkins as Uniteds strikers. Hojlund for me can play as a Winger / CAM

Serhou Guirassy at Stuttgart has been on fire this season. 2nd top goalscorer in the Bundesliga & has a release clause of around £17million. At 27/28 he’d be the perfect experienced CF option for us to get for a good price.
Dobvyk and the Benfica mieldfielder Neves Frimpong and Luke Shaw fit we’d be unbeaten scratch Olisse off the equation
For me the perfect option for a ST will be Toney, if not him then Sesko
What do you think about singing Serhou Guirassy since he has a small release clause
Dream window for me is Todibo + Bremer or Branthwaite for CB, Kimmich + Onana for CM and Olise. Then get a full back and striker on loan or free transfers. Build the spine first and fill in the rest over time

Eriksen is old, Case too, McTom average, Amrabat on loan. Leaves Bruno, Mount,Mainoo. 2 or more midfielders ideally.
I admire your well researched work regarding possible signings Sam, but for me the OUTS are far more important!!! The overpaid coasters, and sub standard favourites are what are really holding progress back....Of course we need new blood, with ability, passion and work ethic, but please God let's ship out the dross!!!

Hear me out, If we bought Lewandowski from Barcelona and rotate hojlund and Lewandowski, hojlund would still get his minutes to play and he can learn from Lewa while Lewa can also be a monster on the pitch and be a key striker for Manchester United
For me Bruno and Rashford arent a part of an ideal or even realistic eleven going forward.

TBH...we need like 5 ...here's my opinion;
We need young experienced players keeping in mind the low price tag
While Slightly aged players have the experience but if they don't fit in a good team like our rivals arsenal and city ,they will also be not put to their full potential

We need young and experienced players not 27 year olds who by the time we start fixing the team problems and truly compete will be approaching 30 or even already 30

The problem with Bakayoko is that he's about as one-footed as Antony is... hardly does anything with his right foot. After watching Antony, I never want to see us sing another one who can't use both feet

In Sam's defense: Amrabat didn't really have enough play time to show himself either. He's very much the right profile of player (distributer), but not top club prem level. He was just the only one available. ETH got Casemiro, but he wanted de Jong. He also wanted Pavard and De Ligt who are the best passing/distibuting CB's. He want to build from the back, but nobody can do it currently, that's why it's chaos. We're in desperate need of a regista type CDM and building CB.

I don't understand why we need another striker who is young, big, tall & has a bit similar style to our 21-year-old Hojlund. Utd never ever gonna play 442 with Bruno & Rashford and 2 strikers. And here's another thing with Utd striker: they don't have the service. So there are already a bunch of problems with this striker profile.
I think we either bring an experienced striker like Giroud from 2-3 years ago who would be an excellent mentor for Hojlund or a versatile forward..Liverpool have Jota, Arsenal have Jesus & Trossard. I love Utd to go for Wissa. He's 27, not a superstar, kind of under the radar £25m. Pressing, defending, keeping the ball, drawing a foul, movement, involved in the build up. Ofc if Utd keep playing this chaos counter attacking style, he's not the one. But we want to see a different Utd , right
