Let's forget about De Jong. He is legacy chasing at Barcelona and I don't blame him. Last thing we want is a player whose preferred destination isn't our club. Technical DM who is defensively aware and could make a tackle is the way to go (Casemiro is the other way around). Such a DM alongside Kobbie as no. 8 will automatically make Bruno play a little more composed. If we get a solid right CB and a 2 footed winger in the squad, there is no excuse to dominate most of the games next season and easily finish top 4 atleast.
But his preferred destination might be Man Utd come the summer tho

@@AtlantisFootball Look, we fans would take him in a heartbeat (because of his quality) but he has said it enough times that he wants to stay at Barcelona. Ofc, he is supposed to say that but last season he clearly rejected us many times even though Barcelona were open to sell him. Even if we ignore this, there are tactical problems. He isn't defensively solid, like he is good at defensive and positional awareness but not actual physical defending. He will surely feel the pace and physicality of the PL and he can't get away with it because of the position he takes on the pitch (a deep CM/CDM). Also, I feel that even though we get our summer signings right and we actually control and play patient possession football from next season, it won't be a complete change. We will still be transitional at times and Frenkie isn't that sort of player to be comfortable in it, let alone thrive in it. We want physical monsters because we literally don't have any in our team. It has to be a specific tactical environment in which he will thrive and we aren't in the best position to give him that for now at least. Still, I can't deny that he is world class but I feel Kobbie would have solved that problem for us.

Aleix Garcia would be a perfect partner for Kobbie Mainoo but not convinced about Onana suiting possesion oriented football Tijjani Reinders and Douglas Luiz would be better options to Onana

If DeJong is doable then you sign him, it’s that simple. 2 press resistant central midfielders with good passing and ball retention is gold. Didn’t do Barca any harm with Iniesta and Xavi, or Kroos and Modric at Real.

Glad you spoke about the midfield for the last few weeks all I’ve heard people talk about was the RW position which I don’t why people seem to be making it a priority thee it’s not the strongest but we got garnacho amad and Antony who is likely not going to be sold this summer it’s going to be busy for Utd in terms of both incomings and outgoings
If we sign De Jong its to oust Mainoo in the 8. Its a much bigger issue to sign a 6, an RCB, LB and a striker. I cant see us signing more than 4 players. If we do an left footed forward and a LCB to cover Martinez would still be a higher priority than an 8, especially when Bruno and Mount can both play there.

If they can afford it (which they absolutely might be able to), I'd go for Neves. That guy is 19, ready to shine even on a top level, and will never get injured. Onana body type has a way bigger injury risk. Only issue with Neves is they will lack height, still believe it's worth it. But they will need height around Martinez and Neves if they go for it. Something like Bremer and maybe Gutierrez from Girona. Also, imagine Martinez and Neves build up play. Would be absolutely insane consistency.

I'd absolutely would love to see the other options for defensive midfield options. It's a positive that is vital in the team and in world football, and United simply doesn't have one .

Onana & Garcia may actually be the best combination, for all the reasons you mentioned. Indeed, with Kobbie (& Dan Gore, who you also name checked), that mid would have 3-4 players with different - potentially complementary - attributes.
Time to check out your other vid on potential coaches, in case Ratcliff ditches ten Hag. One who can put in the right system to make them 3/4 thrive.
(PS: its probably also better to pass up de Jong this summer for cost seasons. Pushing a bid for him to 2025 when, as you say, he'll have just 1yr left. There's other critical gaps to fill. in not just about what type of skill set that they have, its more what type of football we want to play. if Ten Hag want to play possession football, we must have more press resistance midfield, or we need all of our midfield to be press resistance even. if we want to play more high press we need more midfield who can press all day. that is the minimal. and then after that we can talk about what unique skill set that they have, whether long pass, dribble, link up, ect.
why i said that, because after the downfall of eriksen, casemiro, and martinez injury, we only have mainoo who can keep the ball, we even cant keep possession against low table team.

I am happy to see the look for option a guy with a 10m release clause and Onana I mean. That’s ideal if we want a strong midfield for the future Onana is just 22 guys. That’s midfield is stacked for the next 6 years.
In a dream world, we get Onana and De Jong and we start dominating mid fields and happy days. But the price will be an issue it’ll 100% go over 120 mill so I’d rather get Onana and another CM/CDM alongside him and Mainoo, we also need a big squad in case of injuries and need to fix the wage structure for atleast this summer and the next so de Jong is a no go for me and I don’t think INEOS would go anywhere near him THIS summer but maybe next summer things might be different

I think Onana and Garcia would be brilliant as well as Onana and a player like Andre from Fluminese would be great to create a strong midfield 3 with Mainoo. Douglas Luiz would be great too but he’s a bit too old and expensive.

Barca are in financial trouble and will want big bucks for De Jong, I suspect INEOS will not sanction an expensive transfer for 1 player when we have need for many players in many positions. United will now have to be financially prudent so I don’t think De Jong will be viable. It’s not that I don’t think he’s a good player but i just don’t see it happening. Also De Jong essentially does what Kobbie Mainoo is doing now. Getting DeJong would just impede Mainoo’s progress as a player. It feels like in the case of Mainoo, we’ve got a player who can play the way Ten Hags wants and as much as De Jong would be a marquee signing we need to use that money for a reliable CF and some one who can replace Casimero. We also need a back up Centre back.
FDJ is a great ball carrier and in the build up but just not a cdm or a great tackler. Barca has used washed Oriol Romeu and a center back in Christensen instead of FDJ. FDJ much like maino would be perfect next to a proper cdm. We need a midfielder who is great on the ball and also great in the tackle but they are kinda rare.

I love these suggestions but we just don't have the FFP room to spend £100-£150m on De Jong and Onana. Garcia is a great cheaper option but I would also suggest Kroos for free and Kimmich in his last year. I would also sell or let leave, bad attitude Sancho, Lazy and petulant Rashford, arm throwing, squiny Fernandes, peg leg Antony, £340k a week Varane, £350k a week Casimiro, £250k a week Martial, £120k a week Erikson and restructure the squad with cheaper, lower wage options who might actually fit a specific style of play and also play for the badge.
de jong is exceptional. but man utd could do with a player that can play both cdm and cm quite well. depending on casemiro staying at man utd. man utd also have mount who they are yet to utilise. so dan gore and mount should be looked into being used. amrabat given he will be going back to fiorentina, a midfielder should be signed.
The problem we have is, over the last decade, we have bought "world class" players in and they have been found out so quickly, our financial outlay looks similar to Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter. We need players that have been proven in the Prem, and we need depth. £100m+ for one player, isnt worth £100m+ for 2 or 3, when your injury record is shocking.

His statistics would not be as high because the EPL is much faster pace and he will not have that much time on the ball due to the speed of the game .We dont need overnight success Mainoo has the ability to be better with experience . United fans are too spoiled expecting overnight success. We have never had time to develop our own talent and now is the time for this to happen .We have already been told that its not going to happen overnight so just be patient and let our youth that we have get the experience they need and recruit from our unders .

De jong wouldn't feature in man Utd squad until the approaching end of his career.. World class players prefer other achieving clubs during their peak years and sign for MU when they no longer feel like playing football for the club has got a great history....

De Jong's lack of physically is a myth. With mainoo we will see a completely different United in midfield we will dominate match after match. However we will have to wait 2 years for his monster contract to run down and agree to take a serious pay cut to sign.

DeJong didn't want to come so, why would we want a player that didn't want to play for us? How about we be realistic, Garcia is an option. Onana is not that good, he's tall, physical, fairly quick but he's not a good passer of the ball or that good at scoring goals. We do need a physical tall midfielder to remove McTominay from being selected when we play bigger teams.

I don't think De Jong will have as much freedom to roam in the PL, and he will get beat on mercilessly. The Premier League is much more physical than any other league in the world, and I don't think Frenkie can stand up to it.
I would like a big, rangy CDM, that is physical. Man United don't have a physical presence on the squad, other than Casemiro and Verane, and they could both be gone by next season. I think the whole team needs to go on a weight training regimen. Garnacho, Mainoo, Dalot, Shaw, even Hojlund, who's already big, could all use an extra 10lbs of muscle to help keep them from getting injured, and being pushed around against the more physical teams in the PL.
Bottom line, let Barca keep De Jong, Manchester United can do better for their needs, and their money.
