    I think the "shark fin" made the difference. What's that cost you, like 15, 20 watts? Without it you win for sure! LOL! Seriously, I can't believe the training you guys endure. Thanks for bringing us along!

    Hey Nick,
    Nice video!
    I have a question; you always change your wheelset and gearing when warming up on the rollers, why don’t you just use your regular disc and gearing?
    Greetings from Germany!

    • @nick_wammes
      @nick_wammes  Před měsícem +3

      Its very important for us to activate our nervous system on rollers, it would be more difficult to do that on the big gears that we use for training and it would also cost us more energy to push those gears on rollers. We also don't use the disc wheels on rollers because they have more expensive tires on them and its better to put less heat cycles through them. I hope that answers your questions!

    What’s the rational behind doing a AM gym workout and PM Hard bike session. Is it purely logistics or are you emulating racing on tired legs ?
    Great video

    • @nick_wammes
      @nick_wammes  Před měsícem

      Theres a few reasons, but a lot of it is based on muscle activation before track. Fatigue is also a factor!

    great vid! question though, why do most track cyclists use thin width rims during warmups, and not a disc wheel? great watch also!

    • @nick_wammes
      @nick_wammes  Před 23 dny

      We try to minimize the wear and tear on our race equipment. The shallow wheels also offer more resistance

    I've always thought about the velobike cleat locks, how do you end up unclipping? do you get one of the coaches to or do you just get a good pedal position and try to reach?

    • @nick_wammes
      @nick_wammes  Před 6 dny +1

      @@nick_wammes yeah I do like the idea of them but I don't really see people using them, I think Jean Spies is the only person I know who is using them when I was on track with him but with me not being at a high level yet I most likely will not see many. But after British nationals in a couple weeks I'll have a look into them.

    For decades, socks in cycling were not the norm, and in fact people competed without them. But millennials invented that they were better and today there is a symphony of horrible and impractical socks. Hopefully one day the kids will go back to the old school and cuilcism will once again be a sockelss sport.
