In the "fun" category, I have a story for you. Back in the late '70s we had a lift pump go bad on an 1855 GAS, dealer overhauled it, ran it for about 2 hours, oil pressure dropped, and it started clattering. dealer took it back, put new bearings in it. 2 hours later, same thing. Dealer mechanic came out, put a drop of oil on his tongue and declares GAS in the oil. Deleted the pump and put an electric on on it because the tank is lower than the carb on those. One complete overhaul and 2 sets of bearings later, I agree on hating those pumps.

The few dollars you lost on that harrow is made up for by the good deed you did with that young man. I am sure he is as proud of it as if it were new. I bleed Deere green too but I also have the "other green" in a 1952 Oliver 66 that my father in law gave me. It had been owned by two of his brothers over the years and he wound up with it. It was my first restoration. I feel your pain on the pump. I just replaced the one on my 2020 Deere to the tune of about 90 dollars and believe me you aren't the only one life kicks in the butt on a daily basis...

Nice jester on sell the disc to that young man. Made him feel like a real farmer . I hate those sock filters dad showed me a trick on then put it on the flat side of a concrete block n put your knee on it , light pressure n squish it lol . A got to play with my new toy the 185 white neighbor had some hay ground that wasn't well , so he was gonna plow it but his plow was barried in the back of the shed . I needed to test this tractor out we have a 12ft rock disc with notched blades it well go in the ground 8 to 10 inches it's mean . This tractor has more than I thought it never seamed that it was behind it about 10 acres only problem was radiator hose leak n a rotten hydraulic hose on the cylinder. Figured it be loud with a straight pipe but not really. Hopefully get it on the dyno but it's got to be 200hp plus . You ever work on one . Anything to watch for. From turkey creek farms be safe n thankful

That was cool what you did for that neighbor boy!! Yes that disc is appropriate for a 60. I was the same age as him when I traded a pre war hand start B JD that did run for a stuck 60 JD. An old man helped me out . That was 1980 that was 43 years ago. I'm 57 now. I got the 60 running and put the #5 JD mower behind it that the B had been pulling. I had live pto and live hydraulics. I thought I was king of the world. Proud as a peacock as you said.

What model was the disker? I sold mine, It didn't have wheels on my model. Sold it to a guy in North Pole, AK just ten miles North of Fairbanks, Alaska. His dad stopped out first to look at it to see the condition.I can't remember the JD model. The guy told me he and his dad just got a section and needed something old to clear 40acres. His only other option was a new $14K one from the lower48. That was his story but the vibe I got was he got it for his dad. Because his dad came out and looked at it for two seconds and started telling me everything about how he used the same ones back in 19?? . The son unloaded a new tractor The dad had a big smile on his face as they left (like that young man in your video.)

The sock probably was a better filter media as the oil had to travel thru a lot of cloth not just some paper-type filter media. You could use a Franz oil filter that was accepted for airplane engines. It used a roll of toilet paper as its filter media.
Years ago we used to have customers that wanted their car engines flushed out. We drained the oil, put in a gallon of kerosene, and ran the engine for 10 minutes. Of course, that was back in the days when oil filters were usually bypass filters not full-flow. The kerosene did a good cleaning job. Fill the engine with non-detergent oil and all was well.
So having diesel fuel in the crankcase probably did some cleaning of hidden sludge.
Those RoosaMaster fuel filters sure were a good idea as even a blind farmer could see if it had water. BTW, when was the last time that the fuel tank sump valve opened and any water collected drained?
Keep us laughing at you playing with/by yourself.
