Yes, unbearable, as in the whistles keep away bears that could interfere with the riders. They left the whistles in just in case a bear tries to sneak up on you while you're watching the video. Pretty obvious really

To let people further down the track know that a rider is approaching and if the whistles stop suddenly then a rider might be down.
