Mannequins have flawless skin
You can dress em up like me if you like
But don’t lobotomy, I’m happy & free
Listenin to crickets in the pale moonlight
I Don’t give up, I give in
There ain’t nothing to win
I’m making music for all stereotypes
Modern love, unsentimental
Consequences schmonsequences
I can hum it if you like
Hurrah! The Obscenery is fucking useless
Jihad me in Obscenery. Born ruthless
Until the rivers run dry & you’re caught in the middle... what you made
In The division of thighs from the hole where the empathy used to be
until your river’s run dry... fuck me stupid
& you’re caught in the middle... what you made
kiss it goodbye... fuck me stupid
Empty hole where the empathy used to be
In the Obscenery is where you’re happy to be
Ain’t it a little strange?
pretend to be awake?
Do you think we’ll break?
Like a slap in the face.
Enjoy the obscenery, goodnight.
Self help, go on help yourself
You must be pleased with miseries you design
Voyeurism jism may cause blurry visions
Or a spoiled brat for an inner child
Emotional amputees with phantom pains from missing limbos of life
Oh, the guillotine!
I’m drownin in wet dreams
Betcha lose your mind
Hurrah! Let’s do this
Enjoy Obscenery. Born Ruthless
kiss it goodbye.... stupid
We’re all caught in the middle & useless
In the Obscenery forget what used to be
Cause there’s no love for anyone who isn’t me
Ain’t it a little strange?
pretend to be awake?
Do you think we’ll break?
Like a slap in the face.
More than a little strange
We really need to wake
Everything gone break
We’re too fucking late
Enjoy the obscenery
Goodnight.

#QOTSA #InTimesNewRoman - Hudba
This is the first time I’ve had the chance to put on some good headphones, crack a beer, smoke some herb, and dig into this album. First song and I’m blown away. The levels. The lyrics. The music, always. Perfection, again.
I love Queens, but idk about the new album. Not bad bit lacking.
@@alexmock5214 That’s cool. After listening to it god knows how many times now, I don’t think I could put it ahead of some of their earlier albums like RR, SFTD or LTP. But, I do think it’s an amazing album.
At sativa , now one of mine favourite choruses
Whats your favorite piece of this LP?
welcome back
I cant believe I am witnessing QOTSA release a new album 🤠
Not sure why that’s hard to believe since it’s not like they’ve been inactive, but I am excited about it too. 😊
Been Witnessing these guys drop bangers for over two Decades!
This band is always making good music
Incapable of doing shit music*
Yes each and every version of QOTSA is awesome but none compares to when Nick and Lanegan were in the band. Miss you Mark
@@antoncarmoducchi6057 You can embrace change and still acknowledge that their best era was with Lanegan and Nick.
@@richardadams7940lol seriously?
@@roadkillgravy5168 no trolling. Songs For The Deaf is their best album. It's not even debatable.
The Groove at 2:25 is absolutely killer
You nailed it. My jaw dropped when I heard it.
One of the best moments on the whole record
This is why Jon is king. Whether it's a simple catchy groove like this one or an overkill of The Mars Volta, it's always fucking tasty.
Yep. Same here. I just love this part.
This record is SO DAMN GOOD
The lyricism is next level on this one
The penis cism is bulbous also 😉
I love Josh blending such deep messages with such clever lyricism.
this might be the best song on the album
Sounds like he called out both sides to me 🤭
It's so clever... All of the answers to what happened in his life recently are right there in the songs cleverly placed throughout. Everything...
This man is a lyric genius. Clever, imaginative, deep and funny. All at the same time. JIHAD me in obscinery... Come on 😂😂 Its a 10/10 on the words side
@@JBG1995zgzhits harder when you realize he was playing at the bataclan theatre when it got attacked
I am 66 and have been a Kyuss a Queen and Vultures fan for a long time and I absolutely love this album and it's message.
I love all 3 too. My favorite number actually.
Life is good again 🤘🏻
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The lyrics in the song are so intelligent. Insane song… i don’t understand why is so underrated
It is just weird musically. It is seriously the first album I don't like.
I love how the songs sound in this entire album, I have been obsessing over it the last couple of weeks XD
It's not formulaic drivel. A lot of people won't appreciate that.
Title of this album is pure genius. The lyrics are beyond good. Impressive set of tracks. Thank you sooo much Queens you did it again.
Could you explain the title to me please? English isn't my main language, I don't get the wordplay or whatever it is.
@@elliotrodriguez523 I'm German and English isn't my mother tongue either. But I interpret the title as an allusion to late Roman decadence, the decline of a great power. Times New Roman is also a popular font and this is a reference to the new focus on lyrics that this album brings.
Literally no one on this planet has checked for j.Ho since the desert Sesh with The Peej. Nobody. QOTSA ended after Oliveri split. Duh. Homme was one of the GOATs 1992-2004. Beyond that, no one cares, obviously
@@marcbasil Yeah, the sold out arenas where I've seen them are a great testament of what you say... Duh.
@@garayworkshop74 pardon…?
I absolutely love the choir ladies joining in for the chorus behind Josh!
Queens has always had their own inexplicable quality that makes them unique - this reveals itself during certain parts of any given song, real Queens fans know what i mean.
For this song, undoubtedly it's at 1:56 . Like up until that point you're listening, grooving, enjoying.. but that part hits and its like WOAH hello, there we go. Classic Queens.
It's like the world's most emotionally satisfying scavenger hunt
I know right! Everytime I'm listening that section just comes in and slaps me across the face (in a beautiful way)

"Emotional amputees with phantom pains from missing limbos of life." Fuck me sideways, that is good.
diiiiiid I just hear "voyeurism jizzum" lmao?
Cant stop listening to this one
faaaak! the Homme vocals age like fine fine wine. He just gets better and better. What about those strings parts??? Phew this is a good opening for the Album
Best album opener I've heard in a long time!
yeah, I mean, it's some Turnin' on the Screw quality opener, I like Keep your eyes peeled though, but in terms of being compared to the rest of the album, this one takes the cake, definitely top-3 on in Times New Roman
@@Rogeras32 turning on the screw is probably my favorite album opener too but I do love feet don't fail me now
Can't find a live of this, unfortunately.
Are they playing it ?
@@ratedjosh sadly I don't think so
@@iameric1019 this singing seems to be pretty difficult on this one.
Maybe that's why.
This song is an absolute blinder. So muxh going on in it and so much variation between each section. Like the extended guitar riffs in the last section just add so much. Absolutely slays it.
Ok I've decided and THIS is my favorite track on the album!
Yep
What the peephole say is so good though!
@@matthewdaub it changes day to day....
Obscenerirly beautiful
The voice 😭😭😭😭 I've missed you ❤❤❤❤
That bass line that comes in around 2:30 is groovin, baby!
Thank you qotsa I'm loving this album
The first track has a very Bowie-ish vibe and I love it
Look, I love Queens and all, but this album has been KILLER. My new favorite 🤟🔪🐍
Listening to Jon Theodore play drums is one of the finer pleasures in life.
This shit BANGS
And the universe once again gives me Gold ❤
Back to the start for the 1000s time already. God this album is amazing. Time and Place is fantastic, can't wait to get home and get the guitar on and learn it.
This record is unreal. The lyrics on this track are so good!
am i anyone who loves the orchestra part in the middle of the song? brilliant artistic writing that plays in my head whole day... can anyone send me some similar sounding classical song or sample of that?
I still get chills when I hear it. I still remember the first time I heard in my car on my way to work. It was a real "oh shit! This is for real!" Moment
I wish they'd play this live. So good
Just saw them and was hoping for this too
They did!😁🌠🔥
@leentjeulrichts2895 no way. Gonna look it up now.
Edit: I looked but I haven't found anything. If you happen to have a link to a video let me know please 🤘
Has anybody noticed he can go from a Bowie feeling to a slightly menacing Morrison?
Such a nice album. Groovy af. Classic QOTSA
groovy and dark as only you guys know how to provide
No lie there. That transition from strings to monster riff is KILLER. ALSO, the riff at 3:47 is just OBSCENE.

Holy smokes 😮😮
Nostalgic and new!
Album was well worth the wait! This one has been stuck in my head all weekend. Absolutely adore it!
Thank you for another piece of brilliance ❤️🔥
You're welcome 🤗
You're AI sycophancy is sickening.
The world NEEDED a new Qotsa album, and it's fucking incredible
This song is weird & raw as shit on the chorus, and beautiful on the bridge. What a fantastic mess.
… And the isolated strings part?? OOH yeah!
A minute in and this is a classic.
This song is just perfect 😍
It plays with my senses, I can't understand what's going on in my body when I listen to it but damn, how good is it ❤️🤘🎸🔥
I know I will listen to it a million times 😍
Thank you for all the happiness you bring into our lives 🙏❤️❤️❤️
Long live The Queens 🤘
Another banging track!
PS: Love the use of strings on different tracks on the new album.
I just saw the newest bill burr podcast and came here right away. Great to hear some great tunes again from qotsa
Until the rivers run dry!!!!
Love the gritty guitars w the floating airy vocal....fucking awesome.
It's like Josh decided to write every song based on the drum beat. Awesome.
Erg kinda annoying though now that you point that out
i think he made the lyrics for some of these songs after the instrumentals had been made already
Josh is a poet!
I've been reading the lyrics. Enthropic obsolescence twine with jaded fracturism in a telling preappocolyptic vestigial. It seems both badass and cynical. There is a sense of loss about mutual aid that unfortunately will likely stand the test of time for it's verbose rhetoric. I was thinking of old neighbors b4 it played... Not exactly the wordage that I would trust w them, yet peer support can take many forms and also I want to encourage your fans to research post- structuralism. ❤ {Oh Joshy, please behave!}
Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Thanks, Vinny
Bravo Josh, le hai azzeccate tutte. Cesare sarebbe fiero
In times new roman, villains are like clockwork...
Man man man...had to come here to say that,I love QOTSA...I LOVE THIS ALBUM,PURE FIRE❤
Saw them in Amsterdam 1 month ago...amazing concert
kickass start to a kickass album
i need this in live
Layers on this album are fucking insane
AMAZING!!! been a fan for years and love it so much!!!
I saved this song and didnt listen to it until i arrived in vegas for #skankfest 2023 in september. I played it for the first time when i stepped outside the four queens hotel onto fremont surrounded by the golden nugget, binions casino, fremont casino, and four queens at night. Neon lights with the viva vision ceiling showing psycadelic-esque projected images that change from asteroids to giant rolling dice. On the street were people drunk stumbling, midgets breathing fire, ladys of the night pulling johns aside, homeless people doing the moonwalk, elvis impersonators eating sandwiches, nuns with their breasts out at a photo booth, children rapping for money while the parents filmed for social media, crowds of people dancing and smoking together, and full scale debauchery. With me walking around fremont street listening to this song. That experience is etched in this song forever.
This is my favorite track of the new album! Hope if y’all come to Houston y’all play this! Keep going Homme and you’ve helped more than five people✌🏾😎🖤
This makes my heart oh so happy 🖤
Best Song on the album.🎉🎉🎉

LONG LIVE TO THE QUEENS ARE BACK
Best song the album IMO
Another kick ass album can't wait to see it performed live
Back to the funky badassery! Fuck yeah!!!!
Amidst personal turmoil, and declining spaces for hard rock in the public consciousness, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme entered the creation of “In Times New Roman” with a selfish mission.
“We’re going to make something that sounds as brutal as it feels to be alive right now”
I think on his part of life’s journey, there’s no armour left.
It’s only about walking deeper into the darkness.
Homme has been embroiled in a legal battle with Brody Dalle, his ex-wife and front person of The Distillers, where accusations of violence and restraining orders have been traded during a lengthy custody battle of their three children.
Elsewhere, recently revealed, he’s been treated for cancer, and been rocked by the deaths of key collaborators and friends, including Mark Lanegan.
If there’s anything to emerge from the mire, it’s that QOTSA find themselves where a lot of fans want them: back in the sludge.
“In Times New Roman” is a grotty listen, using pain to encourage a rawness in their sound .
The album as a whole, isn't too much different from other work they’ve produced before.
Everything is coated in a sludgy mix of fuzzy guitars and bottom-feeding drums and bass, but with an apocalypse either narrowly avoided or on the horizon, depending on your view, they're all the more potent.
The opening "Obscenery" whisks guitars from one side to the other as Homme doubles down on a falsetto that barely rises above a musical clatter which shifts from synth-assisted strings to a brief percussion interlude that teeters on breakdown.
It's a highlight of In Times New Roman ... along with the brooding "Carnavoyeur" and "Emotion Sickness," a horns-raising riff monster that nearly begs for room-clearing volume.
Produced by the band and recorded at Homme's home studio and Rick Rubin's Shangri-La facilities, the album could be a sequel to the excellent ... Like Clockwork from 2013.
Check out the appropriately lacerating solo in "Paper Machete" and the devilish march of "Made to Parade," throwbacks to classic QOTSA.
But all the sludge and grime comes with some baggage..
The nine-minute closing track, "Straight Jacket Fitting," tags on an acoustic coda, a head-cleaning of sorts that will have you wishing it was a few minutes shorter.
Homme's desperation, however, is real.
Talk of oblivion, suicide, emotional casualties and being torn up inside are themes and all too real are found within.
It feels like a wholly necessary outpouring of creative catharsis.
Sludge on
Jim
I put this on and could t stop. 2 times whole record on one sit:) BRAVO! MASTERPIECE!
Can't wait to see these guys in Omaha soon!!!!! A show where I'm going to love any new songs they play.
Freakin brilliant ! The whole set of new tunes rocks
Love it guys, badass.
Absolutely fantastic! Can't wait to see these guys on the 15th November at the O2 in London ❤
Love this feckin song! 🔥🔥
Those high pitched vocals on the first chorus are fucking extraordinary. Still not sure about the song as a whole but that might be my favourite part of the entire album 😂
the whole song is good but that is the highlight
i love joshs high pitched parts so goddamn much man
Banger after banger after banger
Some insanely amazing music...as usual form QOTSA! This song - lyrics, structure, tonality rocks so gooood!
Love this rockin groove tune👍👍😎😎😎
This song is dope AF!
Absolute masterpiece
Just noticed the ribbons on the art work is the names of the newest albums, In Times New Roman, Villians, and Like Clockwork.

This is sooo good
Just what I needed after a few weeks of shit luck. Loving this.

OMEGA BANGER OF A SONG! I LOVE IT
They should have called this album Port Manteau
That's brilliant
@@vincentmazzola2887 no it's just how Homme thinks
Love it guys!
Love the song! I’m really curious as to why “Villains” and “…Like Clockwork” are shown on the same ribbon under the snakes on the graphic in the video. QOTSA do most things* (these days at least) very methodically and planned. Maybe it’s trying to say that ITNR is the final album of a trilogy (pretty sure someone else had this thought, would give credit if I remembered them, if you read this, do reply!)? I don’t really know, but love it nonetheless.
Also, this is the 69th comment. Nice.
i think all 3 titles flow together rly well
like
like clockwork, villains in times new roman
or
villains like clockwork in times new roman
or in times new roman, villains like clockwork
It's the trilogy, first it's lc, villains, and now itnr
the artwork artist named Boneface has been responsible for this trilogy. The devil on the cover of Villains shows two fingers indicating it's his second work for QOTSA.
@@wbto_ That makes sense! I actually had no idea it was Boneface again for the artwork on ITNR, I knew he did Villains and all the Like Clockwork stuff... so thanks for that!
THE RETURNED OF THE FIRST QOTSA , GREATTTTTT
