Suspected DUI Driver Crashes Into Home - Family Forced to Leave - Irvine, CA

A male driver was detained by Irvine Police officers after crashing his vehicle into an Irvine home last night.
The driver of the black late model Ford was handcuffed at the scene, and was transported by ambulance to a nearby trauma facility for evaluation prior to legal detention.
Orange County Fire Authority special teams were on hand to verify the home's safety. Firefighters initially attempted to bring down the battered chimney that appeared to present an imminent danger of collapse; eventually, it was left upright though thoroughly mangled.
Utility companies arrived to check for possible gas leaks and damage to electrical wiring involving the home which endured significant structural damage when the car struck the exterior chimney wall.
Onlooking neighbors said that the same house had been hit before, but that report is unconfirmed.
